Total for which, cost or people coming?
Due to a family emergency, my plans for roughly the next month at least have been scrapped.
Damn. Sorry to hear that, Doc. We’ll try to catch you on the next get together.
I don’t know if Dave and Buglet and I will make it. I went to Richmond last weekend, am heading south again this weekend. I think we’ll have to let you know a little closer to the function.
We’ve done the Franklin Institute. I don’t think we’d enjoy the IMAX with Buglet, and it’s a bit far to drive just for dinner in a restaurant/bar - bar means smoking, and smoking means I’m not interested.
Cost. In retrospect, however, I’m not sure that taking Aaron to the IMAX is appropriate. I don’t think he’d have problems with it, but I don’t want him to disturb others. While he may not cry, he does babble, and it’s hard to convey “be quiet” to an almost seven-month-old.
So, please put me down as “tentative.” I’ll talk to Gramma tonight, and if she’s willing to take him for the day, I can go. Otherwise, no.
Robin
You could always meet us for dinner. Or take a look around the Franklin Institute. Or something like that. We’d love to have both of you for dinner.
Gingy, I understand. But I’ll miss you.
as i mentioned before the please touch museum is right next door. THE place in philly for kidlets.
if we go to tgifridays we could go non smoking.
TGIFriday’s sounds like the best plan to me. Family friendly, and non-smoking to boot. Do they take reservations, or will be just have to show up and home they can fit us all?
I did ask Gramma and Great-Gramma about babysitting last night, and they said they’d let me know.
Is anyone else going to the Franklin Institute (and not the IMAX)?
Robin
i think with the crew we are expecting we may want to have reservations.
My boyfriend knows there’s a message board where I hang out (though I’m pretty sure he’s unclear about the extent of my addiction). Last night I was telling him about getting all these valentines from y’all, and “Oh, speaking of these folks, although I’ve never met any of them, a bunch of us are going to go see the coral reef Imax film and then out for something to eat.” I was astonished when he said he’d think about joining us. It is okay to bring a civilian to a doper gathering, right?
Most definitely. That’s one of the many ways we recruit new people.
I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it. Turns out I’ve got a big exam the following monday, and I need all the studying I can get. Maybe next time.
You’ll be missed, Sir Dirx. And I’ve heard from Zappo that he won’t be making it, either. sigh
So, now that we’re less than a week from the day, can we start getting some numbers of who’ll be there? If you’d like, I can call Friday’s one day later this week for the reservation. What time sounds like a good time for that, btw?
Oh, and Verrain and I will definitely be there without a problem. It turns out our gaming weekend got cancelled, so we’re in Philly for the whole weekend anyway.
I’m not sure if I can do it or not – my boyfriend’s mother died last night, plus my boss is threatening to have us come in next weekend – which, since I missed today and will probably miss tomorrow, I won’t be in a position to argue with. Can I have a few days to find out how all this will affect my plans for the weekend?
Definitely. I think Frank said that he needed the numbers by the 18th, so that should give us a couple days.
And my condolences on your boyfriend’s mother. We CERTAINLY understand if you can’t make it because of that.
thank you.
Can we start a head count so I can plan to order some IMAX tickets in advance? Those that are tenative can purchase tickets (if they come) there at the office. Please do not think that tickets must be purchased in advance. I am only doing this because of the chance that 20+ people show up and they only have 10 tickets left. I want everyone to be able to see the show in one sitting.
The running time of the film is 50 minutes. The show times are 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 5pm. I’m thinking the 2pm or the 5pm show.
Let’s get some thoughts on an itinerary and a count of the film-viewers so I can order tickets on Wednesday or Thursday.
As I said earlier, Verrain and I are definitely a go. Either the 2pm or the 5pm show works for us. Both have advantages, so it’s up to whatever majority decides for us.
