Go for it. I find most astronomy pics to be restful or relaxing.
Mind you, they wouldn’t be as appropriate for your BDSM dungeon. 
They would if you put them up with tacks.
Who doesn’t want heavenly bodies in their bedroom? I also agree that it’s your room, decorate it to please yourself.
Just don’t put up an pictures of Uranus.
And the Keyhole Nebula’s out, too.

I’ve been wanting to order some of these prints by E.L. Trouvelot. He was a French astronomer in the mid to late 1800s. His illustrations incorporated chromolithography, and they all have a very romanticized, artistic and stylized feel to them (and sometimes creepy — look at his drawings of the moon surface and sunspots in particular).
I think something like these might look better on your walls than explicit photography (IMHO of course 
)
I’ve been meaning to order a couple for myself. He has some very interesting and beautiful works.
My downstairs bathroom (the one that company sees) is decorated in an aviation/aeronautical theme. I’ve got autographed photos of astronauts, aviation signs, a large print of an old biplane, airplane wallpaper border, a photo of earth from outer space, a couple of Cessna signs, a clock that looks like an altimeter, a thermometer that looks like a vertical speed indicator, numerous other knick-knacks, and next I’m going to put up a framed collage of 5 images of the Shuttle being launched, which I took a few years ago.
So of course I say, “go for it”.
It’s really cool. I had some up in my bedroom before I moved.
p.s. – If you could get a really big one that took up an entire wall, that would be REALLY cool.
I say go for it. I’m thinking about a picture of a gas giant for my bathroom; then nobody can say they weren’t fairly warned.

I lived in a house that had the Earthrise mural on a bedroom wall. It was really a kid’s room, but with my love of Astronomy, I decided to live in that room while I was there.

Heh. One of my then-very young sons asked me once what a star was. I said, “Well, it’s a giant flaming ball of gas that’s very far away.” He thought for a moment and said, “Gas? You mean like a fart?”
I just bought the picture of Uranus from there nicely matted. I’m going to put it in my guest bathroom.
I might have to buy a gas giant picture later and pretend there is a space theme in there.
