Would you buy Sampiros book?

My apologies for not responding sooner, but for somebody who can be a chronic attention whore I can be amazingly shy about being the center of attention.

I appreciate the words of encouragement (others, expect a letter when I ascend), and it has prompted me to dust off and finish the book. However, I think initially I’m going to go the old fashioned route of sending it to agents. When ready I intend to make some YouTube videos and a website since I think ‘hearing’ some of the stories (every member of the family had a unique speech pattern) and seeing some of the pictures of the people* and imo places adds a bit to the ‘resurrecting’ of them.

Examples: my mother in a wrestling pose ca.1952-53, my parents (being their morbid selves) visiting a cave-gravethey went out of their way to see on their honeymoon, spooky pic of the twins c.1904, me with the twins and my grandmother in 1976, Carrie alone 1983, etc… While they can’t go in the book, I do like the notion of them being available on a blog or somesuch- for one thing they add credence to some of the stories.

Hooray!

Anybody got any ideas on how to find an agent? I’m curious, too. Hoping that if Sampiro can do it, maybe I can, too. So I’ve got a lot riding on his success. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sampiro, so glad you’re forging ahead.

Love the pictures.

Ageed! I love tangents and parentheticals.

Yay! I love reading your posts. Your humor, your insight, your memory, your eye for details, and your skills with language are all wonderful. Memoir is not my favorite genre, but I will read yours. You have much worth saying, and the skill to say it well.

I am a fan of parentheticals, tangents, and other digressions and ramifications.

I would not only buy the book, I’d kick for Kickstarter. But it looks liks Sampiro has another plan. Sweet! I salute that plan.

This. I’m glad you are moving ahead with your book. I look forward to its release, and hopefully I’ll have enough work by then to be able to buy a copy!

('Cause we can argue all we want about artistic styles and philosophies; what artists really want is to get paid…)

Although I hate to have to wait for it, I’m just relieved that you didn’t show up to say “Naaah… not feelin’ it.” And glad you’re thinking big. I do think there’s a national audience for your stuff.
