Would you like to eat this?

Vanilla ice cream over chocolate brownie with scotch whiskey poured over?

This sounds so decadent to me. I’ve had little experience with true desserts.

Oh, but if I could.

(Hey, you could share, ya know!)

Yes, i would. Although I’m not sure the Scotch improves it.

Single malt would be great. But shy away from those peaty Islay malts.

Where do you find such goodness? Never heard of it before, but it’s going on my bucket list!

I’m not a big fan of Scotch but yeah…sounds good (at the very least I would try it).

Sure, but I’m not sure scotch is the best thing to pour over such a treat. Better options are amber or dark rum, or (for a non-alcoholic version) four-star (sweet) balsamic vinegar.

Grand Marnier might be good. Or any number of liqueurs.

Can I substitute hot fudge for the scotch? I have pedestrian tastes.

Drambuie, not Scotch

Stout is the answer here.

Straight whiskey on ice cream sounds unpleasant. A dessert sauce flavored with whiskey, on the other hand, goes great on bread pudding, so it would probably go well on ice cream as well.

Sure. But hold the ice cream and brownie.

Fun Fact: The Scotch kinda “unbaked” the brownie and rendered it into a slurry. Had to lick the bowl clean, not wanting to go fetch a spoon.

I lied about the Ice Cream.

Aaaaacccckkk!

I’m gonna need one with Scotch and one without so I can advise on whether one is better than the other.

If I’m not sure, I’ll test again with additional helpings. We wouldn’t want to get it wrong and misguide people now, would we?

ETA: This reminds me of a dessert I used to make that I called “chocolate death.” It started with a slice of Giardelli “earthquake coffeecake,” which was a chocolate coffee cake with a cinnamon-cocoa streusel. That was then topped with homemade bittersweet chocolate ice cream and topped with chocolate fudge sauce.

I’m still here, so I guess “chocolate death” was not a literal description. But it was to die for.

Great ideas!

Better idea!

And pour it over the brownie and then top that with ice cream.

I’ve had brownie, ice cream, and Kahlua. It was very good.

I’ve also had chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, and Guinness. Many times.

Yeah that sounds more pleasant. If going the whiskey route, something like a wheated bourbon would make more sense. They’ve already got plenty of vanilla notes. I suppose if one were to insist on Scotch, a Speyside malt like Aberlour would do, but definitely stay away from the Islays unless you like the taste of burnt band-aids (I do, but not on my ice cream.)

The brownie makes it too rich for my taste, but I’d try the ice cream with a chilled single malt schotch.

There was a TikTok trend or similar social media fad about a year ago of putting a little bit of soy sauce on vanilla ice cream. I tried it, and it’s … interesting. I’d advise going light on the soy and using Japanese soy sauce over Chinese soy sauce, if you want to try it.
