A new month a new tract. Who’s missing starts with the death of… well it almost appears to be Mr kofi Annan and just gets nastier. the nifty part is not only the return of Mummy Jesus but a cameo by all of the doofi that followed John Waters (sorry Bob’s) lessons.
Once again we have an ugly nonbeliever who gets uglier as she rejects him.
At least we have someone rejecting him… unfortunately they seem to live afterwards… strange.
If god sends people to hell, and there’s no escape from hell, and the rapture won’t happen until the last person is saved, does that mean no rapture because the people in hell aren’t saved?
Wow, I thought Chick had been slipping lately but this has everything, bad exegesis. anti-Catholic bigotry (the Church is the “Whore of Babylon,” the Popes are “antichrists.”), a pot shot at Billy Graham, UN paranoia, moronic attacks on college professors, and a completely non-Biblical “rapture” fantasy. I’m surprised he forgot to slam homosexuals but i’m sure that was just an oversight on his part. I give the tract a nine. It could have been a ten with a little homophobia or a few dancing demons.
No way that Jack would make a blunder like that - it was in a caption.
“It is no longer ‘politically correct’ to warn people that God hates sin - sodomy, divorce, Masonry, Islam, or the Whore of Babylon.”
Methinks the Chickster has seen the $ucce$$ of the “Left Behind” series, and is weighing in on it. When oh when will he put out his own series of novels?
FYI - I actually did a search on the Billy Graham quote. [Indigo Montoya voice] I do not think that quote means what you think it means.[/Indigo Montoya] Billy seems to be rejecting the notion of a literal lake of fire - he defines hell as separation from God.
Of course, distinguishing literary images from reality has never been Jack’s strong suit.
Well, Panel 23 had a reference to “sodomy” as one of the sins God hates, along with divorce, Masrony, Islam and the Whore of Babylon.
The smoking in Panel 32 cracked me right up, reminding me of the Simpsons episode when everyone thinks the world will shortly end:
Wiggum: 10 seconds till sundown.
Patty: [takes a smoke, along with Selma] We did it, we beat cancer.
Among the faithful in Panel 39 is a white-haired guy with the eyepatch, which made me think “Wow, even Emilio Largo will be saved!” Evidently James Bond was a bit too sinful to qualify.
[InsideJokeGoneTooFar]What does he have against masonry? Doesn’t the fool know that the illuminati is the archrival of the Roman Catholic Church in their battle for global political domination?[/InsideJokeGoneTooFar]
I don’t know why I read these things. I guess it’s because I can sometimes find them funny; like Dark Dungeons. This one just made me sick. I don’t understand the mentality of the people in the comic; I mean, that one guy Damien believes that his sister is going to go to Hell, and he’s all, “Oh, okay” about it? What does that have to say about evangelical Christianity as practiced by Chick?
I also wonder why Damien is still dressing in black. Maybe he only pretended to convert in order to take out Bob’s organization from the inside…
Hopefully I’ll find one of these soon for my collection! (Working in a North Carolina hospital is second only to working in Chick’s own warehouse.)
I can’t remember all the ones I have so far, but I know I’ve recently found The Scam, Party Girl, and Who Cares?. I’m holding out for Big Daddy, Dark Dungeons, or Soul Story.
