wow...i don't like this (new boards)

This is my first time back to the boards and I’m a bit put off. I haven’t had time to explore yet, but at the moment the new scheme bothers me - I really enjoyed the simplicity and minimalocity of the text-based boards. I know that there must be plenty of threads like this already, but I don’t have much motivation to look around for them right now. I’m sure you are all still just as cool with great things to say, but I feel like I’m in a theme park with y’all when I really just want to take you camping and chat around a campfire under the stars.

To make this thread different and keep it unlocked, I’ll turn it into a game/poll. Maybe this should really be in IMHO but I’m so much more at home in MPSIMS. What’s your creative metaphor for your opinion of the new boards?

mine: I love California but I go there for Yosemite, not Disneyland.

(p.s. I don’t discredit the designers of the new scheme; it looks great, I just don’t like it.)

I don’t mind it, but the challenge of properly doing vB stuff was part of my fun. Now with all these buttons if I try to challenge myself and do it wrong, I look stupid.

If you go to the “user cp” (your control panel) at the top of the screen, then into “Edit Options” and scroll to the bottom, you can turn off those buttons.

I don’t see any strong reason for moving this thread to IMHO, but I felt it necessary to say that just because you prefer a certain forum doesn’t mean you should put all your posts there. You should still consider which forum is the appropriate one for your post/thread.

I like the new look. Was disoriented at first, but that wore off after half a dozen posts or so. If I had a metaphor it would be a positive one. But it’s too late to think of one right now… :stuck_out_tongue:

I was wondering where you went off to, whatmove. The colors bother me too. Too sterile and drab. As for the coding … I still just type it all in because I don’t want to mess up and I’m too lazy to actually try to figure it all out. I tried to use the font size/color option one, but it didn’t work. Oh well.
