Wow, I walked out of the freaking movie(fear.com)

Sounds like the most feasible part of the whole movie.
Come on, how many people were told “AAACKKK Don’t click this link, it’s bloody awful!” and still clicked (yes I am thinking goatse.cx).

Oh, btw, don’t click this link…

Did the hemophilia have any relevance to the situation, or was it just a plot device to irritate the biology-savvy members of the viewing audience?

Even three wrong’s do not make a right (though three left’s do)

World Federation of Hemophilia:

"Does hemophilia only affect men?

Hemophilia usually only affects men, because the hemophilia gene is carried on the same chromosome that determines whether a person is male or female.

The chromosomes that determine a person’s sex are called X and Y. Men have an X and a Y chromosome and women have two X chromosomes.

The genes for hemophilia A and B are on the X chromosome. Because women have two X chromosomes, if one does not work properly, the other X chromosome makes up for it.

However, if a women has the hemophilia gene on both X chromosomes, then she will have hemophilia."

Canadian Hemophilia Society:

"Hemophilia affects people of all races, colours and ethnic origins.

The most severe forms of hemophilia affect almost only males. Females can be seriously affected only if the father is a hemophiliac and the mother is a carrier. This is extremely rare. (See The heredity of hemophilia.)

However, many women who are carriers have symptoms of mild hemophilia. We are only now fully recognizing the importance of bleeding in carriers and the degree to which these symptoms affect a woman’s quality of life.

As hemophilia is an hereditary disorder, people are affected at birth. This means that children can have hemophilia. In fact, hemophilia is often diagnosed in the first year of life."

“Mild hemophiliacs have even fewer hemorrhages. They may be aware of their bleeding problem only in the case of surgery, a tooth extraction or a serious injury. Women with mild hemophilia may bleed more during menstruation (periods).”

Haven’t seen the movie and probably won’t in a while, seems like it might be going straight to video here in Finland.

Damn you - I clicked that link you told me not to, and now my eyes and ears are bleeding. (damn britney spears)

(While we’re on the topic, don’t drop a dime on City by the Sea. I saw an Access Hollywood that mentioned an “Oscar Buzz” surrounding the flic, and I was rolling on the floor. DeNiro obviously owed someone a favour, and the director came out before the screening was like “Um, what a great cast. Tell your friends!” You have been warned.)

Let me clarify… at least 2 people were fully aware that they would die in 48 hours as a result of logging in. Human condition or no, I don’t taste cyanide because someone tells me not to.

And as for it being the most feasible part of the movie, that may be true. As sad as that is…

I saw this Saturday night…awful, my friends and I agreed that we should have gone to Goldmember instead. Two of us walked out, but three of us sat through the whole thing. Ick.

But…

My understanding was, she not only wanted revenge on the killer, but to a lesser degree, she wanted revenge on the people who liked watching torture and death. Also, I think the 48 hours was significant because the length of time before she died was 48 hours. Or something. Stupid movie.

You’re lucky you didn’t. That movie is horrible as well. I wanted to walk out of that one, but my “I paid for this dammit” principle kicked in and I sat through it anyway.

Mishell, I believe your spoiler to Max’s 48 hour spoiler question is correct based on how I understood it.

And Snooooopy, the reason why the female with hemophilia was significant was

Everybody who visited the site died within 48 hours, but they also died of their greatest personal fears. The woman who breathed life into the website was a hemophiliac who was cut up by the Bad Guy over a period of 48 hours, and getting a cut was her worst fear (she was terrified of knives and sharpie things, according to her mom). She couldn’t rest until she had vengeance, and evidently that was enough for her to reach out from beyond the grave and Instant Message people using spooky fonts.

Oh yeah, and I suspect that a hemophiliac male wouldn’t have had the same appeal to the typical horror fanboy during the topless torture scenes, as compared to, say, a bleached blonde female.
