Y’know, I don’t really know where I stand on this whole mod thing, but with this comparing their actions to such unquestionably wrong things as raping/eating babies and concentration camps, I can’t help but think that more of a sense of proportion is sorely needed about now…

I can’t figure this out - are you trying to end your thread by invoking Godwin’s Law? It’s only on page 2, and we haven’t even gotten to one good example of the behavior called out in the OP. I was hoping this would go on for a couple more pages, at least.

Yeah, great analogy, because instead of providing examples of the mass annihilation of the Jewish people and the atrocities carried out at Auschwitz, people usually just answer “No, it’s just a general impression I get - that’s it - the Nazis were generally slaughtering the Jews. In scanning through this thread it appears that many of the posters are missing the point of the OP. Hildo did not appear to be complaining about the Mods and their mistakes. He was complaining about the posters who kiss their asses and defend them to the death even in the face of evidence that the Mod was in the wrong, hence the entirely ridiculous example in the OP.
Yeah, but why use a ridiculous fictional example to illustrate a supposedly real phenomenon, for which, supposedly, real examples could be found and presented?
My guess is that the real examples aren’t nearly so exciting, or don’t quite support the point Johnny is trying to make.

Look, of course there are some posters that chronic brown-nosers. You’ll find that at any moderated message board. I don’t know what brings it out, but there’s always someone like that. Then there are those posters who may happen to agree with a moderator on a particular issue. Maybe to a “n00b” it sounds like brown-nosing, but if said “n00b” would just make an effort to actually search they would find instances where posters have disagreed with moderators in the past. And finally, there are a number of cranky posters here who disagree with moderators on a regular basis and yet still hang around. There’s a whole range here, so what Johnny “Dildo” is complaining about is just FUCKING BULLSHIT.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m waiting for some Archons to return to the thread.
