A very different take to Taylor Swift’s original: Look What You Made Me Do by Jack Leopards & The Dolphin Club.
I love this version of Big Yellow Taxi. Stripped down and clean. I love this girl too. Not just a great set of pipes, she’s also a champion fiddler.
A very soulful version of Stand By Me.
Brian Wilson’s death reminded me how good the Beach Boys were at covers. Their version of Bobby Freeman’s “Do You Wanna Dance” made the answer hell yes. And on their Party album they turned The Regents “Barbara Ann” into one of the world’s great earwoms.
My first Beach Boys record was Beach Boys Concert which had covers of “The Little Old Lady from Pasadena”, “Long Tall Texan”, “Monster Mash”, “Let’s Go Trippin’”, “Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow”, “The Wanderer”, “Graduation Day”, and “Johnny B. Goode”
Heh. Looking at the credits for “The Wanderer,” Dennis came out from drums to sing, Brian moved back to play drums, and Al Jardine moved over to play bass. Still sounded pretty good.
Love Kacey.
I loke Brad Paisley version of Boys of Summer. I play it regularly. The guitar is so much better.
I rarely listen to Don Henley’s original.
Nice, she also does a killer Heart Of Glass
Uncle Kracker’s cover of Drift Away includes a guest appearance of Dobie Gray for the last verse.
Very special because Dobie passed in 2011.
I really like this young woman’s rendition of “Midnight Train to Georgia” originally by Gladys Knight & the Pips.
School of Rock is a series of high school students doing various old covers and, while the young adults are talented they usually fall a little short. But I think this young woman really has the chops and gets it done.
This one is different. A cover of Rollin’ (Limp Bizkit song) but certainly VERY different and IMO light-years better:
That reminds me of The Gourdes covering Jin and Juice. Somehow hardcore rap resonates with Bluegrass artists.
This is a cover. Kind of. It’s also an essay about Sultans of Swing.
If you love the song, I think you’ll find it worthwhile to spend (sic!) 12 minutes with Mary Spender.
I’ve always liked Mary’s videos. That was a good one.
