Wow, that's a great cover of that song

I always liked Annie Lennox doing Whiter Shade of Pale. Of course, I like all of Annie’s songs.

A Whiter Shade of Pale simple and sweet.

Bangles doing Hazy Shade of Winter…sorry if I missed it upthread. The Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter (Official Video) - YouTube

The Thrill Is Gone/Summertime Milk’n Blues.

Oh yeah, definitely.

Holy shit. That’s great!

You’ve heard it for the first time? I liked it when it came out and didn’t even know that it was a Simon and Garfunkel cover. The Bangles were a great band, much better than what they were promoted for.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in large part due to a cover. It’s pretty good. Sounds exactly like the original, but as most people think it’s the original, it definitely worked.

A close friend of mine just the other day made me aware of Rowland S. Howard’s (co-founder of Birthday Party with Nick Cave, later in Crime And The City Solution and These Immortal Souls) solo stuff, and it’s fantastic, including this great cover:

White Wedding

Another one I’m listening to right now, where the interpreter has totally immersed himself into the spirit of the original artist, is Stevie Ray Vaughan’s instrumental cover of Jimi’s Little Wing. Breathtaking. Stevie totally understood what Jimi was after and expanded on that.

David Douglas and his band do a jazz cover of Poses that I like.

The original is by Rufus Wainwright.

Skynnrd cover. Caitlin Koch, Simple Man

If you’ve been at a live Brandi Carlile performance in the past year or two, she typically does a cover of Joni Mitchell’s A Case of You that is simply spine-tingling. There are a couple of poorer quality amateur videos out there, but no really good captures of it. I keep hoping for her to release it.

Here’s a fair video, with good audio anyway.

Springsteen doing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” is my all time favourite Christmas song since my teens.

Yep, first time I’ve ever heard anything by them. I’m an old fart. But I saw Simon & Garfunkel perform it live in '67 and '68, so there’s that.

Here’s Carlile covering Zeppelin’s Going to California.

Here she covers Elton John’s 60 years on

Well, I’m an old fart too, but the Bangles cover is from 1987, and I thought everybody must have heard it some time since then ;). And I’m envious, would have loved to see S&G in those days.
