Wow. The Onion tasted bad.

I feel ashamed that I understood everything in that article…including the character sheet.

No one’s mentioned Stephen Hawking Builds Robotic Exoskeleton yet?

Funny I read The Onion all the time and this is the only article that struck me as in bad taste. Otherwise I think it’s hilarious.

How can you be offended by the Sharon line and not even notice the “Iran’s Holocaust Conference” infographic? (right there, next to the photo of holocaust denier Ahmadinejad)

Yeah, but didn’t they run it under a picture of Siskel?

Still one of my favorites.

My all time favorite non-article headline:
Special Olymipcs Tee-Ball Stand Pitches Perfect Game!

I can’t access that one for some reason. Can you paste the text?

That’s a good one but “Aging Pope Blesses Everthing in Sight” is mine.

It’s a picture. Try this.

Like probably everyone else on the planet, I’ve found myself writing Onion-style headlines for my own amusement. For example…

**PMS: Now in Menthol!

Jeb Bush Calls on Florida Supreme Court to Raise Terry Schiavo From Dead

Elvis Has Left The Building: Would You Like His Voicemail?**

etc.

What about the non-article headline God Grants John Ritter’s Wish to Meet Johnny Cash? Posted the day after they died, of course. In bad taste, but hilarious.

Also, one of my favorite articles: God Answers Prayers of Paralyzed Little Boy; “No,” Says God. WAY worse than the Ariel Sharon joke.

How about

There’s no " I " in " My kid has cancer. "

Ha, I screwed that up. It’s " There’s No ‘My Kid Has Cancer’ In Team "

Well dammit, you went and broke it, didn’t you? Now I can’t.

My fave has always been “Letter D pulls sponsorship from Sesame Street” The doctored photo of Zoe as the new gay muppet is just priceless.

What’s grosser than that?

He stands up, and you’re still on his lap.

So no love for the historical headline (in like 72 size font):

Holy Shit! Man Walks on Fucking Moon!

The article afterwords is priceless.

I thought the headline in the OP was only moderately funny, but I didn’t find it particularly offensive. “Ringo Next” was in very bad taste–and is absolutely hilarious (and I say that as a major Beatles freak). I don’t see why they felt the “Quadragon” joke was going too far; I thought that was funny, too (took me a few seconds to get it, though).

But there was one “editorial” piece maybe a year ago that just utterly turned my stomach and pretty much turned me off the Onion. It was the one about a policemen “comforting” the parents of a murdered girl, and everything he says makes it clear that she went though the most horrifying sexual tortures. That’s one I really wish I could scrub out of my brain.

Bwhaa… I mean “Ooouuuuccchhh!”

 But it wasn’t.

Look, I’ll bite (since you baited twice). If there’s one thing I’m jinjoistic about it’s American humor (but there are other things  ). British humor is at an almost parallel close second, but the rest of the world’s got some developments to be made in the comedy department, IMHO. Are there some concrete examples of Israeli humor online that you can link to so that we can judge for ourselves?
