Wow-Thursday morning and no Survivor thread?

Well, I surely expected to see this one already started, given the cliffhanger they left us with last week, but I’m proud to start one.

Well, I’m completely off the Rupert Love Boat. That roaring hissy-fit was the last straw for me, and I wouldn’t mind seeing him booted. Somehow I think he may be in more danger than Jon, but either of them could leave and I’d be pleased.

If Morgan goes to counsel, I’m afraid my little sweetie Rhino will be sobbing real tears onto his 20-year-old cat tonight as he relives his untimely ouster. I hope not, though. I’ve totally swung over to the Morgan tribe now. Jeez, what a fickle bitch I am!

Ok, I feel compelled to chime in with my completely free opinion/analysis of the game

Rupert. Now, I realize that his outburst at Jon appeared menacing, and dispels our big teddy bear image of him. I’m thinking, he works with troubled teens… that is no walk in the park. Tough love would be a major factor in his line of work, I would think, as well as being open and honest with Jon. Now, please, no bashing; but I think he deals with Jon in the same manner he would deal with an unruly, out-of-control teen. Sure, it seems brutal, but he forced Jon to own up to his choice. I’m sure that they will also be all buddy buddy soon. Rupert pulls the furious papa bear act, bitching Jon out, then pulls him back in; “It’s ok, son”. Personally, I think it is brilliant.

Now, as to who is coming back. I have no real idea, but I would love to see skinny Ryan come back, as well as Nicole. I think she especially could be interesting. Her main fault was she was too eager to start playing the game. I imagine, as many do, that the returnees will go to opposite tribes, there will be one more tribal council, then the two will merge.

I will also be disappointed if one of the returnees wins the whole thing. I’m a bit of the mind that they were voted out, keep them out; but it did make for a very interesting twist.

If Drake goes to council, I imagine Jon will go, unless he can win over Sandra and the returnee (assuming the returnee gets a vote).

If Morgan goes to council, I too am afraid it would be Rhino, as Andrew would be better able to control the girls; but I also think their returnee will have more of an impact than Drake’s.

Oh, one other thing! Andrew (I think it was Andrew) made a pretty emphatic statement that they were going to get rid of their returnee the first chance they get. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they did get Burton, and he quickly changes his tune, voting out Darrah and keeping more of a boys team.

I’ve been surprised every time Jon HASN’T been voted off, but I’ve got the sense that there must be some reason we’re not seeing that’s keeping him afloat. I think that Rupert is too valuable to vote off yet, but of course we’ve seen quite a few tribes vote off valuable members before.

I’ve been thinking a little about which booted members might be most successful after returning. Will it be someone who is angry about being booted the first time but who can forgive for the sake of a second chance, or would it be someone who was booted before he or she had the real chance to make enemies? It strikes me that someone like Lill, who was booted not out of anger but because she didn’t fit in, might stand a decent second chance.

Wouldn’t it be great if Morgan went into the TC and voted off Andrew? Just for the sheer jaw-dropping audacity of it. And also because I don’t like the arrogant SOB. It won’t happen, though.
As for the returning members— it would be good if they did not go back to the tribe they were voted out of, but there is no guarantee that the returnees will be from different tribes, is there?

Did anyone else catch the “What to Watch” section in this week’s Entertainment Weekly? The blurb placed under Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets was “Starring Rupert Boneham as Hagrid”.

I just love it.

The shock of Rupert yelling at Jon last week troubled me at first too. But the more I thought about it, it looked like a brainwashing technique and thought that Rupert might just be using some of his job skills to perform a little behavorial modification on Jon.

Andrew bugged me more. I was just warming up to him in the last couple of episodes. But his reaction to the Outcasts coming back was overboard to me.

I was bummed about the cliffhanger. This weekend, I was thinking that I may be becoming too obsessed with the show. It was either Friday or Saturday morning where I woke up and the first thoughts I can remember were about what will happen on the next episode.

I must say that the twists in this game and Rupert have made this season the most interesting since the very first Survivor. I was a Rupert fan from the time he stole the shoes.

Andrew is toast tonight. I knew it as soon as I saw that long shot last week of him telling everyone else in his tribe that the returnees were unworthy, should be voted out ASAP, etc. This complies with the Second Rule of Survivor Editing: Pride goeth before the fall.

Andrew is also set for boot under the First Rule of Survivor Editing: Characters must always be shown in a different light the week before they are booted. Andrew was an insufferable prick for the first five episodes, then he became the Jon-Hating Challenge Stud that everybody suddenly loved. Now we’re back to the original insufferable prick, so he’s dead.

Note that Rupert may also be vulnerable soon under both editing principles.

I wonder if the 2 Outcast members get added tonight (which I hate, and think is the stupidest gimmick since the purple rock of doom), and then they merge so its a tie vote and the Outcasts matter to each tribe. Or do they hold off on merging for a while to let this gimmick sick in.

In any event Darrah or Jon goes tonight. I hope its Jon, but given how stupidly Hagrid has acted as of late, who knows.

In any event, tonight should settle a few issues.

Can we change this thread title to Survivor 11/06???

It was rather hard to search through the CafeSociety for this thread… I was gonna make the thread with the above title suggestion.

Regarding the decision about who goes to which tribe, Burnett said in an interview:

The returnees pick buffs out of a hat/pot, so who goes where is (supposedly) random

re: Jon not being gone yet - it makes sense to me, strategically. If in fact he is as annoying as he seems (and I think we all know the show’s editing can change the public perception of an individual drastically) then he might be viewed by the other survivors as somebody who couldn’t possibly win, and is therefore safe to keep around. And he seems to contribute around the camp in the meantime.

I hope it’s not Ryan; I’m starting to really like him. Did you notice him and Darrah holding hands at the last TC? Very subtle, and kinda cute. But if Darrah knows what’s good for her, she better keep her hands off my TV boyfriend!
And I, too, am off the Rupert Love Train. His outburst at Jon was really uncalled for. Hey, it’s a game, Rupe, everyone gets votes now and then. I think once they merge, he may be the first to go. Others will see him as a threat, and unless he wins a long string of immunities, he’s outta there.

As simply cats said, I’m guessing there will be one more regular TC (where the new returnees will be immune) and then they’ll merge. By then some new friendships or alliances will have formed, and the former bootees will be a little safer.
I’m also hoping they’ll go to the other tribe, so they’ll have at least half a chance. I can’t imagine the first Ryan or Lil going back to Morgan. If they go to the other tribe, they can dish some dirt on their former tribe, and get a chance to form some new alliances.

I hate that I read spoilers! Next time, I’m not reading a single one. Nope. Nope.

Anyway, tonight proves to be entertaining, at least.

Whoops, I hit ‘submit’ too soon.
I’m really curious as to how the lucky two are chosen.

I know they most likely each get to plead their case as to why they should be the one allowed back, and there’s probably a vote, like with the Tribal Councils, and they probably can’t vote for themself.

Will the three Drakes chose a Morgan to go back, and the three Morgans chose a Drake to go back?
Or maybe each of the three Morgans decide which among themselves which Morgan gets to go back, and the three Drakes chose a Drake to go back?
Or is it totally random, meaning they each get to plead their case, and then everyone votes for someone, and it’s just the two who get the most votes?

I emailed a mod and told them I had no problem with them changing the title - but how hard is it to search for the word “Survivor”? That’s how I found out there wasn’t one already.

I’m just sayin’…

Wow! This is so much fun! Surprise, surprise. Below are spoilers for night’s episode-- just so you know.

Soon Jon. Soon.

Wanna know how stupid I am? I never realized they showed how everybody voted during the credits. I don’t think Lil really needed to be wooed by the Drakes. Smart move by Burton. He had nothing to lose and a lot to gain by handing over the— whatever it is they use to symbolize immunity.

Rup’s gonna be hard to beat. He seems to have lost some weight-- he was always a strong guy, but those few less pounds has given him stamina.

Preview spoiler:

Was that Tijunana who said everybody works too hard on this island in the preview? Did Lil say that nobody does anything on Morgan.? It seems to me now that it’s each man for himself more or less much of the old Morgan is doomed.

That big “whose going to which tribe” question turned out to be pretty moot, didn’t it?

Again— Boy that was fun!

Spoilers BELOW!!

Ahem. Not to toot my own horn, but here were my comments after last week’s show:

Lil is an idiot if she believes Rupert. Oh, sure, Drake will keep her around. Why didn’t she try to make a deal with them? Okay, Rupe, I’ll give you my word that I’ll vote for Andrew tonight if you give me your word that you all won’t vote for me for the next two rounds or until the rest of Morgan is gone.

Personally, I’m bummed to see Andrew go. He was smart and has that dangerous edge to him. Okay, so maybe he could learn some survival skills, like how to fish (I love a man who knows how to fish)…but he’s not so bad on the eyes, even though he was getting too skinny. (Ain’t it odd how even paired with a 20-day beard and boxer shorts, a well-tailored suit jacket can make all the difference in a man.)

And Andrew’s exit speech was the worst. You’re PROUD of Morgan? Dude, you were COMPLETELY OUT OF FOOD! Your team had NO survival skills at all. Hint: If I were starving and freezing cold at night, I would be busting my ass during the day to: a) figure out how to use that spear-gun; and b) building sides on that shelter. They reminded me of a bunch of chickens sitting there looking up at the rain. Get ye some shelter!

And, finally, Lil’s comments to Andrew “Oh, like how you promised me that you’d come tell me that I was going to be voted off.” was PRICELESS. Touche, Miss Lil, touche.

Oh, and I forgot my obligatory 6-week-and-counting mantra:

Jon must die*.

*Preferably a long and torturous death.

Come on guys, Jon deserves to be in, he plays the game.

and we need someone to curse and laugh at. I loved his MachoMan impression. I knew it was coming but just seeing this frat boy act makes me laugh out loud.

Jon needs to be in for the long haul for this season to be enjoyable. Him and Rupert make things interesting. I hope everyone noticed the diplomacy juxtapositioning they showed with Rupert coming out with an olive branch, and Andrew letting things fester. Great show. Although the first ten minutes weren’t at all great and important like the ads said so.

Is Burton trying to show the fact that he’s aligned with Rupert? I thought that was a terrible move. He did say that Rup gave him a good challenge but giving away the immunity like that is definitely a noticeable alliance. He should’ve bartered with it somehow.

Oh well, we wait again for next week’s ep.
