Today, after waiting years and years, suffering toil and heartache and tears… the cable company finally came through and dug that last mile of tin-cans & string, only 3 years late.
And now finally, at long frigging last, I have broadband! Cable Internet. 1.5 mbps/128kbps. Whee!
OK, so, what neat stuff can I do with this kinda bandwidth? Where’s the stuff us dial-up shitheads couldn’t even dream about before?!? How can I best use my new found power, for good or evil ?
Disclaimers and explanatia:
I’m not migrating from dialup, I’m migrating from StarBand, so I have had tiny glimpses of what a fast connection is like. However the bandwidth and responsiveness difference from StarBand to cable internet is pretty damned amazing; I feel as if I was on dialup before this.
Yes, I did buy this connection for a reason, I bought it for working at home, and my job is paying for it, and it’s going to be darned useful for that purpose. I’m just wondering what other silly fun can be had with a connection the size of a firehose.
I wasn’t advocating that I’m just wondering why is your cable so slow? Last time I looked at cable it ran aroudn 15 mbit down/1.5mbit up. GRanted… this was 2 years ago.
