Is anyone going to order/watch Wrestlemania 24 tonight?
I’m not. I’m not a wrestling fan at all, actually (which might raise the question of why I’m starting a thread about it), but I like the theory of professional wrestling, and I guess I’m a little curious about tonight’s show. If I knew a local bar that was showing the show (for free, or at least for a minimal cover) I’d check it out–unfortunately, that isn’t the case.
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship (Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton)
World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Undertaker
Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs. Big Show
Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels (Career Threatening Match)
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
SmackDown vs. Raw: Batista vs. Umaga
24-Man Battle Royal - Winner faces ECW Champion
Finlay vs. JBL - Belfast Brawl
BunnyMania Lumberjack Match: Ashley & Maria vs. The Glamazon & Melina
As a non-wrestling fan, there’s nothing on this card that really catches my eye. There’s been some hype over Floyd Mayweather stepping into the ring, but whatever–I can’t help but correlating it to Jay Leno getting into the ring a few years back.
If anyone sees the show or has any opinions on it, I’d be interesting in hearing them.
I’ll make a few predictions though I can’t afford the PPV
Triple threat match- I don’t know. This is all RAW stars and I don’t have cable, so I can’t make a good call on this one. Triple H and Cena are pretty well loved, and Orton is loathed.
Edge VS Undertaker- Taker wins, or wins by DQ fueling further rematch. I predict that taker wins and a title change is in order since Edge has held it for way way too long and the fans are pretty sick of his cheating. Taker is undefeated at wrestlemania events, and I heard somewhere that it stipulates in his contract that he cannot lose at one, though that is complete hearsay.
Mayweather vs big show- recently announced that it’s anything goes no DQ, so there will be loads of interference and cheating. Mayweather wins by paying off enough of the roster to slow show down enough for him to administer the coup-de-grace.
Flair-Vs Michaels - Unknown. We’ve done this before and flair always comes out on top, but he really is past his prime and michaels is a close friend. If he loses to “retire” it would be to michaels.
MITB- Don’t know, don’t care. Come for carnage.
Batista-Umaga- All out slugfest, if no interference, then Batista.
24 man- eliminations continue until mark henry, and someone from RAW is left, Henry takes it as he is due for a push lately.
Finlay JBL- Unknown. I’d take Finaly, but the storyline is really weird and it’s a sort of grudge match that usually ends with the face getting beat down by the heel’s henchmen.
I’m a Wrestling fan, but I never buy the PPV’s, just don’t have the money. But I’ve been watching it since I was a wee tyke. My Predictions:
Bunnymania: Maria/Ashley Win.
Belfast Brawl- Finlay Wins
Battle Royale- No Clue, but I love these matches. I’d go with Kane.
SvsRaw: Batista wins.
MitB: This is ALWAYS one of the highlight matches, and I REALLY love these ladder matches. A shame Jeff Hardy got kicked out of the match, he would have been a great addition in the match. I believe… If a “good” guy wins it’ll be CM Punk. Otherwise who knows, but def. will be fun to watch i’m sure.
CTM: Flair will retire to Shawn.
The Mayweather Match- Honestly I have no clue. Both of these guys are disliked by the Fans, and both of them could end up winning. The cynic in my says Mayweather Wins, because hey if you’re the famous undefeated Boxer getting 20million dollars to fight- Are you gonna want to lose the match? But I’d be happy to see BigShow win, as I like the guy.
Title Match EvsU: I say Undertaker continues the streak. I love the 'taker since I was a kid. Edge is one of my fav. villains though- but 16-0 is far better than 8-0.
Triple Threat- It could go any way… I’ll pick Orton to retain, as that’s the least popular option in my book. If something else happens, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Bunnymania- Maria and ashley win
Belfast Brawl -JBL over finlay
Battleroyal- Kane- Beats Chavo and is new ECW champ
SvsR- Batista wins
MITB- CM punk wins it
Flair michaels- Flair loses and retires
Triple- orton retains title
Mayweather/ big show- Mayweather wins by chair, low blows, and brass knucks
Woot! I even got the Kane one right, and the CM Punk one. And i got the Orton retains correct.
I only missed the JBL/Finlay match with my prediction!
Not bad at all… I always wanted to be a WWE writer. Heh.
