A pin is worth 2 points
A pile driver is worth 3 points
An eye gouge is worth 4 points
You lose points everytime you throw a folding chair.

I feel kind of bad about that smart-ass reply.
Go here, and “good luck” to your son:

Obviously that didn’t work very well…it should have said:

If I remember correctly:
The individual match is scored, as are the teams. During the match the scoring is:
Pin: You win
You must touch both of your opponent’s shoulderblades to the mat to pin. Once the ref sees both are down, it’s a pin, no 3 count needed.
Takedown:2 pts
To get a takedown, you must get the opponent to the mat and establsih control.
Reversal:2 pts
If you gain control from your opponent without escaping, it’s a reversal.
Escape:1 pt
If your opponent has control and you get out of his control without gaining it yourself, it’s an escape.
Near Fall: 2/3 pts
If you get your opponent’s shoulders to within 90 degrees of being pinned (one shoulder down, I think) but don’t pin him, you get a near fall. Points are based on how long you hold him there. I think it’s less than/more than 5 seconds, but I’m not certain.
The team gets 15 pts if the wrestler pins his opponent or goes ahead by 15 or more points (the match is stopped at that point). I believe they get 10 if the wrestler wins on points and 5 each on a draw. I’m fuzziest on this part though. It’s been a few years.
