WTC close calls

I’m sure there are plenty of narrow escapes. Here’s one:

My company has a sales rep in New York. He’s also a good friend; we’ve worked at a few companys together before. He had an appointment in the WTC on the morning of the attack. I’m on the west coast. I couldn’t get him on his cell, office or home; all the lines were down. Emails weren’t responded to. I was sure he was lost. He called me later in the day. Turns out the appointment had been postponed, and he and his family are all ok.

I can’t back this up, but I think I’ve heard here and there that the four hijacked planes weren’t at full capacity. This may have been a case of people getting premonitions. Not full-out predictions, but maybe a sense that they shouldn’t fly just then, or a subconscious will to let things happen in such a way that they couldn’t or wouldn’t have to be on those flights.

I read this morning that Sarah Ferguson was supposed to be in a meeting in one of the towers, and would have been there when the planes hit, but her cab was stuck in traffic. :::shudder::: That would have been extremely creepy.

Everyone I knew that worked in the WTC was either late for work, had decided to not work on Tues, or was on travel. My family and their friends lost no one, and we are counting our blessings repeatedly.

Well…
I was in New York last year at this time for a seminar. I was supposed to go this year too. I just never submitted my application, just didn’t feel like it, even though I made about three grand last year and had a great time. Last year I stayed in a room about two blocks from the WTC and walked by it several times everyday. Don’t know if I would have stayed at the same place this year… but you never know.
