Lol. I know I’m wasting my time here, but could you break down why you think each of these is true? Maybe not the “burning cities” thing, because I know the republican talking point on that, but that other stuff? Sounds like nonsense to me.
It is nonsense. Just the Trump party line, pure propaganda. Some are inclined to actually believe that stuff.
Just strike the word “progressive” and substitute “regressive” and you have a perfect description of the Trump years.
Again, Sam. Gotta thank ya.
Hey, I agree. Trump is fully responsible for how insane the Democrats are now. He also did not consider that mouthing off and enraging his enemies might result in political blowback.
There is a reason the government had policies like the filibuster. It ensured that you wouldn’t go on a policy rollercoaster every time one side has 50%+1 vote, and that major changes in policy wouldn’t happen unless a significant majority of the polity agreed with it. Yes, I know the legislative filibuster is still in place, but it won’t be for long.
For two decades, both sides have been running around with matches, burning down the rules for civil society and responsible government that we learned through centuries of hard lessons.
“Both sides”…
What a joke. The Democrats are highly flawed, but they’re still not remotely comparable to the party of Trump.
Agreed.
I keep telling people here that the Republicans have been on a constant line from Nixon and his Southern Strategy. They are irredeemable, unsalvageable, and beyond apology.
After Trump, however, nobody can ever utter “both sides” and be taken seriously. It puts one outside the realm of decency. Comparing Democrats to the modern Republican party is an obscenity.
It’s over, Sam. Your side lost. Stop attempting the impossible by defending it. It irrecoverably stains you.
I agree it sounds like nonsense. I would be delighted to see a cite for any Democrat calling for the burning pillaging of our cites or open borders, etc. But I’m not holding my breath since these are just Fox News talking points.
It’s a far more accurate characterization of the modern Democratic party than the constant, unhinged characterization of the Republican party that has been the norm here for decades. Biden strongholds aren’t pillaging and burning themselves down. Leftists are doing that. Of course a kid wearing a non approved hat evokes orders of magnitude more vitriol and threatening language than actual political terrorism. I wonder why that is.
Speaking of unhinged characterizations…
So I take it you have no cites for the absurd things you claim Democrats support, such as burning of cites and open borders?
Still waiting for CNN, CBS, Fox, NBC, etc talk about these betting sites. 4 years ago UK bookies paid out a Clinton winner before the election. I guess they were able to get that money back.
Most people don’t want to admit that they were so wrong about their own worldview. It’s easier to admit that the candidate wasn’t who they thought he/she was, but don’t ask them to change their view of the world.
For that, life experience itself is most likely going to be the instructor - experiences that force people to emote to some degree or at least think on an emotional level so that they get seared into memory.
I was a snotty, arrogant little libertarian in my early 20s, partly because I believed that I was too smart to fall into a bad work situation that would end up getting me shit canned. Losing a job only happened to people who were disagreeable or too stupid to function at their jobs. Reality threw a nice little bucket of ice water on my head while I was soundly sleeping.
But it wasn’t the getting fire that changed me; it was just the knowledge that, really and truly, nobody outside, say one or two people, gave a flying fuck about my state of mind during that time. Another realization - an even more important one - was that as bad as I thought I had it, I knew that other people have probably had it much worse.
Sure, as soon as I see cites for the decades of ridiculously hysterical posts about how Republicans are literally Nazis and the Devil incarnate combined. That said, the daily news on violent political unrest and the failure of democratic ‘leaders’ to allow the arrest and prosecution of the mobs responsible ought to be sufficient.
Confiscatory wealth taxes= Nope
encouraging burning and pillaging of cities= nope
racial hypocrisy= it is to laugh
open borders= nope
So where are the arrests and convictions for the arson, looting, rioting, assault, and violent suppression of civil liberties in these Democratic strongholds? When Democrat mayors, governors, and DAs are complicit in the violence of course you aren’t seeing the mayhem end. I know it’s hard to pay attention to riots and opportunistic looting and destruction disingenuously cloaked in the self righteous veneer of racial justice when kids wearing evil hats and people possessing evil flags need to be smashed.
Interesting to see a window into another universe! Thanks for the glimpse of what’s going on inside Trump’s brain.
Well, many were arrested, but since jurys go easy on charges of “rioting”, usually they are cited and released. And since many were wearing masks, they dont know who set the fires. Looters are often arrested and charged.
As to "violent suppression of civil liberties " we have explained why local police cant arrest Barrs brownshirts.
So you are basically admitting you are repeating hysterical talking points that have no basis in reality. The same with claims Democrats are saying Republicans are literally Nazis and the Devil incarnate.
And about the failure of leaders to arrest and prosecute those committing acts of violence:
Over 100 arrests in Chicago
Local police in Portland arrest looters
New York police arrest more than 980 people in two days
275 arrests in Houston of looters and violent protesters
1000 looters arrested in Los Angeles
That took less than 5 minutes of searching online. There are many more instances to show you are incorrect. See how easy it is to find cites to support factual statements? Of course, I understand finding cites to support hysterical statements with no basis in reality is much more difficult.
@Sam_Stone, I’m reminded of the tile of a novel by Ross Thomas: The Fools in Town Are on Our Side.
I’d feel sorry for you, but I guess I’m not a big enough person.
How dare you refute GOP propaganda with reality and facts? Don’t you know that reality has a well-known liberal bias?
