It’s a clamplike device that police can put on one of the wheels of your car when you’re parked illegally. If you drove away with it on the car, it’d do a bunch of damage.

It cannot even be driven away. It sort of slides a bit with loads of grinding noise. I am not even sure you could make it a block. My friend had an old junker Tempo booted, and tried to Simpson it. Before Homer did it. I wish I knew if it caused much real damage to the car, but he abandoned it.

Ah, I missed the opening segment and assumed the “driving with the boot” gag was similar to one used when Grampa wanted to drive and an untrusting Homer kept slamming on the brake pedal with a boot tied on the end of a broomstick.

He’s not referring to this episode. He’s referring to the New York City episode, also written by Maxtone-Graham. Homer finds his car illegally parked outside the World Trade Center, and drives off with the boot attatched.

Moe has gotten the babe from time-to-time. There was the waitress (Collette/Catherine O’Hara) in “Flaming Moe’s”. He had a girlfriend (Renee/Helen Hunt) in “Dumbbell Indemnity”. He was seen making out with Selma in the astronomy blackout episode. He seemed to be having a good time with an actress in the one where he got plastic surgery and went to work on the soap opera. He also was surrounded by “babes” in “Homer the Moe” where he redid the bar into a trendy place. (There was also the Simpsons Spinoff Showcase where Grampa Simpson/The Love Tester helps him out with a gal. But that is probably non-canonical.)

If you have Catherine O’Hara and Helen Hunt as girlfriends, you aren’t doing too bad in my opinion.

Yeah, but in nearly every ep Moe’s whining about how lonely and unloved he is (there’s been at least a couple of refs to him attempting suicide), so while you and I might think that tagging Catherine O’Hara and Helen Hunt would be pretty spectacular, it’s obvious that Moe has higher standards.
