I was wondering what the Dopers who are wrasslin’ fans are thinking of the recent developments with Kane and the removal of his mask.
At first, I thought it was gonna suck. But I think it’s been done rather well. First, they made it look like he hasn’t taken his mask off ever, not even to wash his face. Then he starts walking around with the towel over his head. I know how stupid that sounds, but the way he’s doing it, it kind of looks like a hood or something. Pretty creepy. Now they’ve added just a bit of makeup. Not a whole lot, just enough to make his face look pale and scarred in a few places. I’m enjoying it a lot.
What do you think of the story so far? Where do you think they’re going with this?
Personally, I’m hoping for a return of the Dark Side. Maybe even a reformation of the Ministry. They have the people for it. It could be Kane, Batista, Sean O’Haire, and some new guy they bring up from the farm league.
Naah, I kind of liked him back in the indies as Unabomb.
I would have preferred they leave the mask on, or maybe taken him off TV for a while and used a “plastic surgery” angle, but I do like they way they portray him as a total nutcase now.
I just hope he doesn’t become a victim of the Hriple effect. Jacobs is too good a “monster” wrestler and has done enough for WWE/F. He deserves a decent push.
I don’t know, I guess I was just expecting more. He doesn’t look burned at all, and he was supposed to be horribly disfigured. That was his whole gimmick. On this week’s Raw he just looked like a scowling bald guy. He could at least have better makeup. I mean, from a dramatic perspective, Glen has done a bang-up job. But as far as appearance goes, he’s just not all that menacing. Maybe it’s the fault of my imagination. I imagined this horribly scared monster, and I didn’t get it.
Looks like they’re making him the super strong child who’s really sensitive about his looks. YOU SAID YOU WOULDN’T MAKE FUN OF ME!
Bad thing for Kane is that he’s no longer in the same club that Ric Flair, Jeff Hardy, Rhino et al are members of…the Hair Toss Club. You know, they do the hair toss just before they kick their opponent’s ass.
Since the botched Katy Vick angle around Halloween they have floundered around with Kane quite a bit. I think that the Kane un-masking went really well, and they seem to be moving him towards a more Monster type character than he has been lately. His run with RVD was cool, but to be truly effective he needs to be a monster, and he needs to be a Heel (bad guy).
One of my favorite quotes from a wrestling board was “Kane is currently rehabbing his injuries. Progess is good and is only impeded by the gym bursting into flame when he does military presses”.
