Well, I must say overall this PPV was a big ole blah. A one match wonder from the start. Right off the bat when Regal was talking to Vince you knew that the WWF would win, when Regal was talking about Monday as ‘Raw’ and not ‘Tommorow’ or ‘The Day After Survivor Series’. The many rumors rolling around Smarks about Nitro on Monday were wrong it seems.
Did anyone else really think that SCSA was gonna turn? Hell, Angle had to be the mole. It was to obvious from the very start of his ‘defection’.
The rest of the show was pretty standard fare from start to finish. I almost felt like I was watching an episode of Raw or Smackdown!
Al Snow vs. Christian for the European Championship
w. Christian by pin
This was a match formed on Heat before SS started. In reality this was for Tough Enough 2. Really standard match sadly. I still think Al Snow has the power and fan base to be a top notch wrestler, but he likes to train the youngsters. His best stuff really wasn’t shown tonight.
BTW, is anyone else getting tired of the heel Christian? I mean he can bash the place he is (like saying he was in South Carolina when he was in North). Angle is better at that than him, plus he is a whiny bastard. Put him back with Edge or throw him off the show.
After the match was the meeting between Vince, Linda and later William Regal. Vince had a few little points for Linda, but she said very little. One thing that erks me about this whole scene was the bleeping of “shit happens”. This is a PPV for goodness sakes, lets not bleep things.
William Regal vs. Tajiri
w. William Regal by pin
Boring. And BTW Regal. Get your nose checked. You bleed like a stuck pig. Remember also, don’t powerbomb girls. You just piss people off.
Tajiri really needs better matches than this. He is to good of a wrestler.
Test vs. Edge Unification Match of US an Intercontential Championships
w. Edge by pin
Another pretty standard package. Both these guys are really good, but Edge looked really good out there. This vain Test storyline they have running through now is interesting, but I don’t think Test has the looks to pull that off. Edge, maybe, but Test? No.
The Angle/Stephanie storyline was extended a bit after the match, but it really didn’t matter. Plus, more Matt/Jeff/Lita ho-ha. So just when is Lita gonna hook up with Jeff. Mmmmm… Lita.
The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boys Unification Tag Teeam Steel Cage Match
w. The Dudley Boys by pin
I love the Hardyz and this being their hometown (Greensboro, NC) I figured they were a shoo in. Sadly Jeff had the win in his pocket when he went for the big Swanton off the cage going through an empty table.
The Whore of Dudleyville was at ringside and flashed a little bum to Alliance ref Nick Patrick to get a table inside. Can I just be the first to say to Stacy… BORING! Find a new schtick. You are not a wrestler, and you are not a passable valet. To bad the WWF is more about boobs than skill most of the time with women.
Jeff was carried out on a stretcher, but we should see him tommorow.
20 Man Battle Royal Immunity from firing for one year
w. Test by last man standing
Scotty 2 Hotty was beaten up by Test prior to the match, but a total of 22 wrestlers were in the ring after Tazz, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hugh Morrus came in to try to clean house and keep their jobs.
In the end Test took the win from Billy Gunn after throwing him over the top rope. Nothing really exciting about this match other than it was a Battle Royal.
Trish Stratus, Jacqueline, Lita, Ivory, Molly Holly, and Jazz Federation Womens Championship in a Six Pack Challenge
w. Trish Stratus by pin over Ivory
The suprise wrestler was Jazz from the ECW. I was kinda hoping Chyna, but sadly no. Once again, a pretty boring match only made better because it was a bit womens match.
Lots of back and forth until everything got cockeyed. All 6 wrestlers were in the ring, and it made watching difficult. I didn’t even realize that Trish was legal at the time she pinned Ivory. That stuff really sucks because we are supposed to think that this is a sport.
Backstage Vince gave the big 5 a pep talk. Woo.
Shane McMahon, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle and Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Big Show, Undertaker, Kane, Chris Jericho and The Rock in a Winner Take All Elimination Tag Team Match
w. The Rock by pin to Stone Cold Steve Austin
At 50 minutes (including all 10 intros) this was the longest match I have seen in a while. Not a bad match overall, but nothing to sneeze at.
Shane O’ Mac was the most active early on breaking up 7 or 8 pins before being man handled a couple of minutes later.
Big Show fell after taking an Angle Slam, a leg Kick from Booker, a 5 Star from RVD and finally an flying elbow from Shane for the pin. I am just glad that Show got in some beating time on Angle.
Shane-O went out next after taking a massive beating from the WWF including an old school Tombstone Piledriver from taker. Shane was pushed off the ring by Earl and had to have trainers come pick him up off the mat. Now he can go back to being a good guy dammit. I like Shane.
Kane and Taker fell next in a pretty plain jane interference tactics from the Alliance.
Jericho pinned RVD after nailing him with a spinning wheel kick and a school boy. Not the most dignified way to go out, but hey, RVD still has a job with the WWF.
Rock took out Angle with a Sharpshooter, the Jericho fell to a wimpy clutch pin by SCSA.
… and then there were two. Who didn’t see this coming. The Rock and SCSA wailed away at each other for another 12-15 minutes while wasting away time. By the time Angle came up and slammed SCSA with the WWF Title I was exahusted after watching all those near 3 counts and Earl getting kicked around by SCSA and then Nick Patrick. Phooey on them.
Rock scored the pin, and the WWF wins. Goodbye Alliance. Glad to see you go. Vince came out afterwards and threw his hands into the air.
Raw and Smackdown! should be interesting this week, as there are still a ton of loose ends to tie up (including RVD, Booker, Shane/Steph/Paul, among others.
So there you go folks. Hope you enjoyed the breakdown, now discuss.
