X-Men 3 (spoilers)

She was on the TV in Xavier’s classroom introducing the braindead patient. Xavier then asked if it would be ethical to transfer a non-braindead but deadbody mind into the body, or something like that.

I always thought there was something odd about Strom Thurmond; turns out he was a mutant.

The reason Leech and a cure dart from a distance was mentioned by Revenant Threshold; Jean would’ve shredded both to bits instantly. I think the only reason she held off on Wolverine for so long–and even then not much–is because deep down the part of her that was still Jean Grey wanted to see him live.

It does beg the question of why he didn’t hit her with the cure dart when he got close enough, but the killing works more dramatically.

What I want to know is… as Wolverine/Logan is fighting against Jean’s powers to get to her, we get to see his shirt disintegrate, his skin lift off his bones, all that fun CGI stuff. All around, water is spewing up, things are flying around.

But why are his pants TOTALLY unaffected by it all?

WHY DEAR LORD WHY!

(ahem. Sorry.)

I disliked it. Disliked it so strongly that it’s going on my fanboy’s list of movies that never happened.

I agree with most of what Push you Down said, especially that Dark Phoenix and the big Brotherhood v. X-men clash should have been two different movies.

There were too many mutants. You got to see one guy who looked sort of cool and he’d disappear or get killed off. You never got a sense of what Arc-light’s power was, or what that dude was shooting out of his veins.

Too many characters got killed off or “cured.” It was too dark, and not in a good way.

I just found the writing and the direction blah. The fight scenes were much less dramatic and exciting than the ones in the first two flicks. The dialog just seemed weaker, though I can’t tell you exactly why. The sly humor of the first two movies was lacking. YMMV, I guess.

Bart Simpson, after Homer becomes (sort of) The Incredible Hulk: Thank God his pants stayed on!

But Leech could negate her powers by being somewhat close to her. She can’t shred him to bits with no powers.

:smack: Maybe that’s how he managed to live so long. I always thought he was born 400 years ago on the Highlands of Scotland.

Depending on how much you want to allow the comics, her powers transcended mere mutant abilities. He may not have been able to affect her.

Logan could, not just because of his healing factor, but because of their personal connection.

That’s not how his powers worked. His power was to negate the powers of the mutants close to him not negate mutant power effects as they get closer to him.
Its not like if she had sent a wall of flame at him the flame would have dissipated as it got to him.

I never read any of the comics nor did I see the first movie. Given the various scenes at the end, is there going to be a fourth movie? Or were they just put in so that the possibility for a fourth movie exists?

If any film takes big money at the box office, Hollywood will make a sequel. (e.g. Rocky)
From the plot point of view, since Magneto is recovering his power and Xavier has presumably got a new body, there’s a sequel ready.

I wanted to third the pants comment. It totally took me away from the moment. “WTF…? His pants are still on, but everything else is gone?”

Color me disappointed with this movie.

Clearly, they were his emergency pants.

Not quite sure how much time elapsed between the scene where he gets stabbed with the capsules and the chess playing scene but it can’t have been more then a few days - how come Mystique still didn’t have her powers back (and she only got hit with one dart)??

Because Magneto’s powers were always so much greater, and because he practiced and perfected them so much longer, and also (I think) because they were powers of the mind. Rather than an overly physical problem. The mind is very very strong, is what I think they’re saying.

I assumed that Mystique would be getting her powers back; they just chose to only show Magneto with a shadow of his power. After his scene, I don’t think they went back to her at all.

See? If they’d been clear, I would have been fine with that too!

… wait, that’s not what you –

…oh.

sigh

Yeah whose to say Mystique didn’t get her powers back eventually?
Rogue will as well…most likely while kissing Bobby…thereby making her hate herself more.

And I doubt we’ll see an x 4 anytime soon.

Wolverine solo film is in development…as well as a Magneto solo film.
If they did do an X4 I’d want it to be a team of Iceman, Angel, Kitty, Colossus, Storm (recast) with maybe someone new like Chamber or Cannonball or Sunspot.

Have the story be about Genosha. Have it be more like South Africa under apartheid rather than the cartoony slave nation frm the comics. Mutants are kept in line with cure collars or some such thing.

And really at this point bring in Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.

I had really expected that scene to end with Mystique sitting down across the table and turning into somebody else. Same concept, different execution.

Yeah, I was disappointed by that too . . . mmm, naked Hugh Jackman.

I’ll be in the bathroom for awhile.

Xavier has a new body?

Did I miss something?

Anyway, I have to kind of assume that even if Magneto retained some hint of his old abilities, that he doesn’t have much chance of recovering them. Meanwhile, Mystique owes him an ass-kicking.
