I just recently got an Xbox. I think this console is great. I have a total of 3 games: Halo,Bloodwake, and Rallisport Challenge. The 2 former I love the latter just seems blah. Well I was wondering if any other Dopers had an Xbox and any suggestions for games. I’ve been thinking about Oddworld: Munch’s Oddesy.
So any suggestions?
I played the demo for Oddworld and didn’t like it very much, but then, I didn’t like the other two very much, either. I thought the controls were too awkward…
I’ve enjoyed Onimusha, Silent Hill 2 (though unless you are a hard-core fan of the first I would only rent this one… it is rather short, even if there are 6 endings… all totalled it should last you ~24 hours of play), Morrowind (a lot!).
Morrowwind is very good. I have been told “Hunter: The Reckoning” is excellent. Simpsons Road Rage is fun. Project Gotham Racing is excellent; even if you don’t normally like driving games you’ll probably like it.
If you like sports games, there’s a lot of first rate ones.
I urge you to rent “SSX Tricky.” If you don’t like that sort of game, rent it anyway. You’ll buy it within a week of renting it. It’s fantastic. It’s in my XBox half the time it’s on.
I was also thinking about Night Caster? Anyone played that game? Is it any good/worth my time a money to rent/buy?
I would also suggest SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk 3, and Jet Set Future.
Rent Simpsons Road Rage before buying it. I have a Dreamcast too and played Crazy Taxi (1&2) and Simpson’s is a pale redux of those games. Good for a rental.

Nightcaster is a very fun linear game. The story is very cookie-cutter, and it can get repetitive, but the game just looks REALLY cool and the gameplay is suh-weet. It’s a simple, basic game with some spiffy graphics, good music, and… wll… lotsa runes.
But for the love of Spam, avoid Azurik like the plague!!! That game is a huge stinkeroo. I’d also suggest that you avoid Amped… but maybe it’s just me and my dislike for such games.
Morrowind is great on the Xbox… the load times are slightly longer than on the PC, but the graphics are FAR better and it runs MUCH smoother than on any but the most powerful PC’s out there.
Silent Hill 2 is very, very cool (although, admittedly, confusing in its lack of explanation), but it is so short that it’s painful. The graphics are absolutely astounding. The environments are scary as all hell (literally). It’s a very well-crafted game. But it’s so SHORT!! And the “add-on” scenario for Xbox is pretty dull.
I’m reviewing Hunter: The Reckoning right now for an online pub. Hasn’t really impressed me so far. The game play is cool but in the end it’s just another Evil Undead story. Been done a few times, you know.
I really dug Obi-Wan. I just finished it.
But I’m a Star Wars geek. Be warned.
Oddworld was a lot of fun, the woman and I beat it in about 2 weeks of playing.
I could help more if I knew genres you liked or what you liked about the games that you have liked so far. While many would disagree, I liked Project Gotham Racing alot more than Rallisport. PGR has much deeper gameplay - there is a Kudos system where you get points for driving with style (sliding around turns, catching air, etc). A couple other interesting games are Gun Valkyrie and Max Payne if you didnt play it on PC. (ive actually never played the Xbox version)
So far im disappointed in console games vs. PC games.
I like just about every kind of game. The only games I hate are racing games that are borin and repetitive like NASCAR. What are the good sports titles? As for Simpsons Road Rage I’ve never played it or Crazy Taxi, but my step-brother has Crazy Taxi 1&2 for dreamcast. He said pretty much the same thing that has been said about SimpRdRg but he liked it.
