Yahoo Mail captchas

I have several Yahoo Mail accounts, one of which I’ve had for over 12 years. One of the others I’ve had for about three years, and recently it’s been asking me to type in a security captcha before sending messages.

How do I get it to stop doing that!!!

It never happens with my other Yahoo accounts, and only seems to occur on this one when sending to multiple addresses. It’s obviously an anti-spamming tool, but I can’t seem to find any way to disable this function. How can I convince it that I’m not a spammer?

On top of that, no matter how carefully I type in the captcha, sometimes it doesn’t work. I’ve lost several messages because of this. Thanks for any help.

you can’t stop it. once a few good emails go out it goes away.

it does give you multiple chances for hard to read captchas.

We’ve covered this recently. Can’t find the link to that thread.

Yahoo has a help file on their CAPTCHAs.

I’ve have several Yahoo accounts and still am not required to verify via CAPTCHA. Basically, if your account(s) have been nailed, Yahoo thinks you are a bad person. From what I can tell, once a Yahoo account is tagged with the CAPTCHA requirement, it’s permanent.

Quoting from their help page…

Try changing your password.

My account was hacked or Yahoo was hacked or somesuch (I had a thread on that a while back). Someone got access to a lot of people’s email passwords and have been using those email accounts to send spam to the contact list associated with that account, usually just a single link in the body.

My account was one of those, as was my wife’s. One day I started getting those captchas. I guess Yahoo wanted to preempt all that spam coming from their servers. I changed my password and it went away.

I tried logging in at a later time using my old password (I’d had it for over 15 years) and, I’m guessing, due to the failed log in, the captchas were back. So I changed it again and was real careful when entering my passwords and the captchas went away again.

The same went for my wife’s account. We’re not spamming anyone anymore.
