The right wing finances Nader and Bernie or people like them? Who exactly is financed by the “right wing” in your conspiratorial fantasies?
I agree that it would be a terrible idea to impeach a sitting SCJ for political differences. And if the Democrats attempted to impeach Gorsuch, I would be against that.
But Kavanaugh lied under oath and revealed an intent to implement a blatant partisan bias in his judicial considerations (to the point of “revenge”). Both of those should have disqualified him to begin with and could be quite legitimate grounds for impeachment - not because he’s a conservative but because he’s an unstable partisan perjurer.
Something I’ve been wondering – can a sitting SC justice be indicted? If so, and he is convicted and sent to jail, what happens?
I suspect that lying under oath is not a jailable offense, but ISTM that there’s something hinky about the Drunkard’s finances. If it can be proven he was bribed, jail time is certainly possible.
Perjury is certainly an impeachable offense, as a certain recent President discovered. Whether it leads to jail time depends on the materiality of it; like Clinton, a civil suit resulting in a fine and disbarment would be a more likely outcome if perjury and obstructing an investigation were found to have occurred.
But this, of course, is all speculative at this point. And would require a much more heavily Democratic Congress than even the most optimistic projections of the midterms can produce.
Wow. Where’s iiandyiiii with his lecture on how dangerous dehumanizing language is? And DNA testing to vote? And calling people apes? Imagine the ATMB threads if that language was applied to the left.
You’ve gone full Der Trihs.
You sound triggered. Do you need a safe space?
Did you actually just deride another poster for having “conspiratorial fantasies”?
I don’t know about financing but it is pretty much established that here in Michigan in 2000 Republicans operatives were active in circulating petitions to get Nader on the ballot.

That must be what he was talking about. Case-closed, no bizarre conspiracies here.
I find it amusing that someone would think I have promulgated conspiracy theories. That’s what nitwits have been conditioned to think when encountering a staunch anti-war message. Very Pavlovian.
I haven’t finished my WillFarnaby bingo card for this thread yet. I’m still waiting for “statist” and “baby boomer” to come up.
You can do better than that. Weak!
When FDR tried to pack SCOTUS it was to remove power from sincere good-spirited men who happened to embrace reactionary economics. On the other hand, Kavanaugh, Alito etc. are despicable, hateful and unqualified judges who are bought-and-paid-for. Yet these evil-doers wield huge policy-making power. Look at the 5-4 decisions just in 2018 shown in my post above.
But I agree with you that the D’s would never have the gumption to try packing the court.
Because they would lose power the next election and the Reps would further pack the court.
Let’s say you’re right. What we’ve established, then, is that Trump voters are kind of ignorant, or kind of assholes. Neither of those things is a crime that justifies locking them up by the millions for “re-education.” I think repeating that kind of off-the-rails hyperbole (if it even Is hyperbole) won’t make things better. It plays directly into the conspiracy theory that all Democrats, in their heart of hearts, are secretly Stalinists. That won’t win elections or solve any problems.
I think insofar as you are correct, Trump supporters have had their sense of grievance played upon such that they believe the Democrats have already done everything they gleefully support Trump doing. It is Always “both sides do it!” even though only one side, say, locks up thousands of children or pretends to be fiscally conservative but actually only cares about tax cuts for the wealthy.
That facts don’t matter tells me that these people are credulous and easily led, and messaging to them needs to be crafted with this in mind. A totalitarian strongman will only backfire on us all. What might work? How about a crowd funded or billionaire backed effort to buy Fox news and simply change the programming. Done right, these people will believe just about anything, so why not brainwash them with something of some civic value?
So, we need to control the courts, regulate the media, send our political enemies to prison, and anyone who voted for them to re-education camps. To avoid fascism.
Maybe it would work, but how would you tell the difference?
Regards,
Shodan
Could you link to that requirement? I’ve heard of public access channels, but never had the opportunity to see one. We’ve had cable in a few different places when we lived out in the boonies, and none of those places had a public access channel.
But these were all things that came out during the hearings. The Senate had a chance to take it under consideration and chose to confirm Kavanaugh. (And I want to emphasize I strongly disagree with that decision. But it was legally made.)
I feel we should accept this decision and not seek to overturn it in the future. If significant new information emerges, that wasn’t known at the time of the confirmation, then that could be grounds for impeachment.
At this point I’m thinking the hats. Also…no pretty much just the hats.
