At least we can turn to the lord in our time of need. What kind of godforsaken planet do we live on ? Go to heaven ? We’re obviously all in hell already.
Blitzkrieg… Witchcraft… Mass-Murder… Megaslaughter… Maddness… Terror
The Occult Power of Destruction… Nuclear Warfare… Burning Stroms of Radiation… A-Bomb… Pure Deathf*ck…
Yeah, god Really Loves his Children.
Someone please tell me about our loving lord. Someone please tell me that the lord took 10,000 lives from us for a greater cause in heaven.
FWIW, I subscribe to a more deistic view of the world. God made everything, set up the laws by which Nature is governed, and then sat back for the most part and let things run their course. I don’t believe God is responsible for the horrible things that have taken place today. I believe He is saddened by the terrible devastation caused by His most wayward creation, though.
The Crown. From the album Deathrace King. Ol’ Strom would have a heart attack from the first 3 seconds of the song.
I think your view is the only reasonable view of god. I just can’t see how people can turn to “god” in this miserable time. He obviously doesn’t care about his creation. Either that or he’s making way for his next one.
Please. This is utter bull. It’s our responsibilty as humans to take care of our fellow man. That’s our job. Our job. We are judged by how we treat our fellow man. If we mistreat them, we are judged harshly. If we feed and clothe them, that’s to our advantage. All this violence that this will spawn will sadden him.
Let me reiterate: God doesn’t cause things. We let them happen.
which god are we refering to? too damn many of em’, need a scorecard to keep track. problem is, the nut-job assholes who caused all this shit are pretty damn sure thier god loves them…
me, i think they are (unable to come up with anything good enough to insult them, but ferret shit would somehow figure into it)
…and eagerness to slag people for doing so…well, I think of it this way. A certain fellow was reputed to have expressed, at a particularly bad time, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” He was, to many millions of people, not a fellow they’re disposed to think poorly of. I forget his name, but he was supposed to have been pretty durn important.
It seems to me that if that particular fellow can get away with that without being called a fuck, that perhaps those who put stock in his narrative could cut their fellow mortal grunts a little slack.
You’re not a fuck for thinking so, but don’t think that you hold all the answers, either, and don’t attack people who DO turn to God at times like these.
According to Christianity, God gave us free will. FREE will. Meaning that we could do whatever the Hell we wanted, but we’d be judged by our actions in the end. Meantime, he’s there to lend a helping hand, to offer support for suffering people, and maybe even throw a miracle or two into the mix. But he can’t just stop the damn plane from hitting the building. That would violate free will.
God didn’t kill 10,000 people, Lockpick. Humans did. We did. And that’s the scariest thought of them all.
Jester? Hear, hear! As a Christian who just got back from a prayer service this evening, I was trying to figure out how to explain free will, and you did a better job than I could have. BTW, the service did help me lance the boil I was feeling develop on my soul.
It’s understandable to feel anger and bitterness, but I echo Baker and Jester’s sentiments.
Let us not forget the many blessings we experience all the time. And let us not forget the incredible bravery and self-sacrifice that the people of NYC are displaying right now. Is that not some evidence of beauty, and love? Life is not all death and bleakness. Not even on a day such as today.
I daresay that on this day from Hell on the East Coast, God has shown His mercy many times.
I appreciate that no one will change their religious beliefs after this event but I still have 2 problems with gods creation (and therefore god himself).
The attack was based on religious differences.
God allowed a massive amount of his children to parish for nothing. This happens on a daily basis but on this grand scale it just becomes so painfully obvious that he is not a merciful diety who I am ready to give my life for.
“He’s got the whole world, in his hands” - now don’t you feel safe ?
You can look at all the dispair and devastation, or you can look at all the bravery and heroic self-sacrifice, and love.
You can realize that people actually do have a choice in this world, and today was a result of some evil people’s choice.
I am certainly not suggesting you change your views, but man! What’s the point in trying to bum everyone else out too? Don’t you think we know the sadness, grief and dispair of this situation? Why try to depress the rest of us like this, with your bitterness and dispair? What exactly is it going to accomplish? Do you think it’s going to make us stronger? What?
You want God to override all acts of violence committed under freewill?
Think about it, America would still belong to the native Americans, Australia to the Australian Aborigines and so on…
Let’s be consistant. If the Lord kept Lockfuck alive, then that Lord didn’t help those in need. You can’t have it both ways. Either he’s hands on or hands off.
Yep, let’s blame God. After all, evil men had nothing to do with this. That was St. Peter in the cockpit of one jet, maybe Paul in the other, hey…maybe Jesus was in one too. It never fails, let something bad happen and the first to be blamed is God. So who gets the blame for all the goodness in the world? Or do you just take your next breath for granted?
Maybe I missed something somewhere after hours of watching the coverage on this, where was it said that religion played a part in this? My understanding so far has been that it was the symbol of the World Trade Center that was destroyed and brought down. An attack on America, not an attack on religion.
