Afternoon all. After two bowls of salad, 4 breadsticks and a bowl of Fettuchini Alfredo, I think I can safely say I’m stuffed and will remain so until late tonight. Got a couple messages off to my parents about soccer this week (we’ve gone about a week without activity due to Easter and weather). Also did a little shopping and there were dogs for adoption outside the Petsmart, so I distributed some scritches and donated $20.
Sunny, I’ve lived alone for so long that incorporating a dog(s), even a foster one, wouldn’t go well and would upset my routine (and not do the dog any good, IMHO). However, if the places need volunteers to help…hmmmmm…
{{nellie}}, because personal stuff needs it.
shoe, congrats on the new snake and it’s appetite, even if it is icky…
Taters, good on the kennel removal, good luck on the re-location of the dog houses.
OK, need to do some useless stuff like sweeping and complete reading the Sunday paper, then onward. All y’all take care.
Attempts are being made. Does this work?
She is being a “bracelet” here.
Here, she’s just being cheeky:
Let’s see if these work.
metal mouse, when I lived where I couldn’t have pets, I volunteered at my local animal shelter and still go in on call when they do a puppy mill / hoarder / disaster evac (they’re a regional center for that). IMO, your biggest drawback for having a dog would be your extensive travel. But your shelter still would likely welcome a volunteer to assist in socializing the dogs and cats there.
Moooooooom, it was 37F when I took Nelson out this morning, 43 when I left to go the spring picnic and 73 when we finished up.
This is the time of year to dress in layers.
shoe, a simple example would be that the county where I worked taxed you on 3% of your federal taxable income and that was my payroll deduction. My county of residence taxed me on 1% of federal taxable income. The state of Indiana was charged with collecting the local / county taxes and I was basically paying 2% FTI, 1% to each county.
The spring picnic went fairly well. This was our first sanctioned group activity since March 2020. Most of the adults have had at one dose of the vaccine and masks were required except when eating or drinking. All food had to be individually wrapped or prepackaged, so it wasn’t the big, yummy potluck that we usually do, but it was a good beginning. Nelson got to sniff butts and wag tails with Harris the Pyrenees, Ruby the English setter, her buddy Tiffany (Tiffany’s humans are Nelson’s local ICE), Bumper the elderly miniture fox terrier and Luna the greyhound, so he was the little guy there. A good time was had by all.
After I prep the week’s breakfasts and lunches, we’ll head to the dog park for a playdate with Watson and Jersey.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
It’s only been a little more than four hours since breakfast, and I had some thinly-sliced salami and a slice of provolone not too long ago. But damn she smell of that pot roast is making us hungry!
I just put some peach crisp in the toaster oven - instead of supper, we’ll have dessert. I’m still working on digesting lunch.
Wizard of Oz is on TV, so I’ve been half watching it and half doing other stuff. The day is winding down…
Happy Easter all who celebrate, happy sunday, those who don’t. Just made a glazed ham, was delicious. Sammies for the rest of the week. The dog is being nmmj needy. I’m leaving the dog related head bump on the elbow typo in, he’s 13, so I’ll take all the time we’ve got.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated Easter style, i.e. large and in charge, we ate, we drank, we made merry. Been a fun Easter! Now we are exhausted and chillin’. On the food front, we have leftovers for tomorrow’s sup, so yay for that. Plus there will be ham for sammiches and such for a few days. No problem with that cause we lurves us some ham@
Looks like everyone has had a pretty good day. Yay for that!
Need to haul the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. I do believe we shall close the garage door afterward and let Netflix entertain us for a while.
Just finished treading the mill for an hour, watching Nate Bargatze on Netflix - he’s funny, and clean! Finding clean comics seems a real challenge these days.
Now I need to dump some pellets in the stove and fire it up since it’s supposed to drop into the low 40s tonight. And that’s all I’ve got. Catch ya tomorrah!
Ooo! She’s gorgeous!
The sun came out and (mostly) stayed, so it was a beautiful seven-mile walk. Nelliekids both called, so I shared a couple of miles with each of them, which was nice. Lots of people out and about, and even better, people with babies and/or dogs. Some church was handing out food at one of the homeless encampments. And the cherry trees are blooming. So a lovely walk that helped de-stress me somewhat.
shoe, she’s gorgeous, all rightie. And so practical, too! Who needs to buy jewelry? Imagine the surprise and delight of customers if you wore her to work!
Does she have a name yet?
There’s ICE for dogs now?
What are they doing, chucking chihuahuas? Lassoing labradors? Ejecting English setters? Punting Pyrenees? ![]()
Aww. C’mere, ya big lug. {MetalMouse} Actually, everybody circle in: {{{group hug}}}
Yes! There are lots of places that could use your help, doing “horrible” things like petting dogs, playing with them, and walking them. ![]()
flyboy That pot roast recipe sounded num.
Hey! Guess What! Stanford Women won the NCAA championship. ![]()
Heh, thanks, I needed that and didn’t even know it. {{{{{ here’s another round }}}}}.
Sounds like all had a good day~~Grandma Boo did too. Played out in the backyard for hours in a perfect, sunny 68 degrees and up morning. It’s lovely to be old enough to not care what other grownups think and just sit down in the sandbox and dig in the sand right along with her. We have lovely talks.
Dyed some eggs (outside) using food coloring, baking soda and vinegar-that was fun. Snuggled up and watched Toy Story and TS 2 while her stick in the mud parents went out looking for a replacement refrigerator. They have a loaner from the appliance center holding the warranty on their Smart fridge that died 3 months ago and so now it’s a matter of giving up on fixing that one and just replacing it with new. And waiting months more for that one to show up. It will be a Samsung so hopefully it won’t be trying to come through the Suez Canal.
Had a grilled cheeseburger and grilled bell papers picnic backyard lunch and a smoked chicken breast salad for supper with a gluten free pound cake/real whipped cream/raspberries/strawberries/lemon curd (homemade) parfaits for dessert. Someone sure taught my daughter something about making good desserts
.
I’m tired, but happy tired. I’ll read and Dope cruise til bedtime in a couple of hours. It’s early mornings all week-middle school drop offs. Our turn to have my housemate’s daughter. She’s adorable and livens the place up quite a bit. Picky dang eater though.
It was. Mrs. L.A. gave me two compliments. ![]()
I’ve heard they’ve got the Suez traffic jam cleared and are back to normal.
Had various administrivia to deal with today, plus the usual weekend laundry/cooking/etc.
Evening all. Guess I couldn’t stand all the excitement, went for nappage and ended up sleeping 2 hours, so will be up late tonight I fear. Have made the weekly plans and menu (such as it is). Having a sammich and Pepsi now (about 8:15pm) because that’s when I felt hungry again after the Olive Garden stuffing. Internettin’ and readin’ are on the agenda for the rest of the evening.
red, sunny, if I get any ambition (always a problem), I’ll look into volunteering.
flyboy, you have me drooling for pot roast now.
BBBoo, a grandchild is obviously just what you needed…now if my niece and nephews would just get around to it…
OK, all y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Mooooooom, Nate Bargatze has kin around here. I know his uncle from Dem party events. If you like clean comedy, check out Dry Bar on YT. It’s a dry comedy club in Utah, so nothing offensive.
nellie, while Sis in Houston is Nelson’s godmother, there still needs to be someone local who can take care of him in case of emergency. Melissa and Steve have a key to my apartment to get him and the second ICE number on my contact list is ICE dog (sounds like a hip hop artist, doesn’t it?). Their dog and Nelson get along well and they are fosters for Metro Animal Control, so they truly do know what they’re doing to comfort a dog whose human isn’t available.
See y’all tomorrow!
If it is any reassurance, I was 67 when my first grand baby was born. I’ll be 71 when my second and last one will make his appearance. So hang in there-it’s all the sweeter then when it happens. You will be such a swell great uncle! Lucky munchkins.
Your “simple example” made me wanna hide under the covers.
I swear I’m not a complete idiot.
Charm.
So Canes won, but gave me angina. And I’m over my vaccine reaction, so 2 weeks till Immunity Day. ![]()
< strokes Charm >
Pretty snek.
