Yes, We Have No Bananas, An Ever Green MMP

It was 39° when I let Higgs out for her morning constitutional, but we’re promised sun and upper 60s today - huzzah! So far, my only plan is to change the sheets on our bed when FCD decides to get up. And as I was digging thru the freezer, I found a big chunk o’poke that I need to do something with. I’ve got plenty of polled poke in the freezer, tho I suppose I could make some to go to FL. Still, I’ll peruse some recipes first.

Beyond that, who knows? Doesn’t matter - we’re retired!

Happy Easter Sunday! :rabbit: :sunflower:

Happy Easter! :rabbit:

Weird that so many of y’all are reporting chilly weather - we’re supposed to get a high of 68 (!!) today, which seems like a typo or something.

I read this half a dozen times and still can’t quite follow what you mean. I recognize individual words, and I understood that last part about getting money back  but the rest went over my head.

Yes, those are indeed terrifying objects. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I guess I missed some drama? Probably blown over by now - hope you’re feeling better, EmilyG

Shit. Oops.

Morning all. Up and at it at 7:30am, thought it was later than that but still feel good. 46F heading for 71F and not a sign of rain before Thursday in the Forecast, so all is well. Looked at the Sunday Dining list and Olive Garden is up, so I’ll be heading that way in several hours, hoping to beat the Easter Rush. Outside of that, nothing much else on the schedule.

swampy, enjoy celebration and feasting.

Dicey, no bongs hear, most of the Churches don’t do bells in this neighborhood.

OK, onward into the day. All y’all have a great Easter.

HAPPY EASTER to those who celebrate, and happy Sunday to those who don’t, and to the people of Caerbannog.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Poke loin is marinating, and I shall start cleaning shortly.

While I was putting the clean sheets on the bed, Taz decided he needed to pee on the dirty ones that were piled on the floor. So I’m doing a load of laundry right now. Idiot feline… At least he didn’t soil the clean ones.

I’ve showered and dressed, cleaned the cat box, refilled the water fountain and the kitteh kibble dispenser, and also swapped out our bath towels. There are a few dishes from last night that need to go into the dishwasher, then I’ll figure out what to do with that big poke roast, tho it’s probably still frozen.

The sun is shining, so I expect the temp will rise. I need to psych myself up to clean the pellet stove. It burned the last of its pellets this morning, but I need to let it cool down before I take a vacuum to its innards. It’s very ashy - dirty chore ahead.

Stoopit E. Bunny didn’t bring us a basket or even an eggs. Can’t trust anyone these days! :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Easter everyone.

I finally got rid of my giant kennel/dog run and kennel decking yesterday. I am so glad to have that monstrosity gone and the folks who bought it could really use it. Unfortunately, they didn’t want the dog houses because they thought the houses were too small for their dogs. Their dogs must giants because my large dogs fit in there just fine, but that’s okay. I’ll offer them up for free and see if there are any takers.

I did some weeding yesterday, but when the yard waste bin was a little over halfway full, I stopped because I wanted to get the lawn mowed. I couldn’t get the stupid mower started and the husband promised he’d mow the lawn today. And, of course, it’s raining today. :: The lawn will not get mowed today. Damn it.

The bed needs stripping and towels washed so I’ll take care of that when the husband awakes. He came to bed in the wee hours of the morning so I am sure he’ll be in bed waaaay late today.

I am bored and restless which isn’t a good thing because it usually means I will indulge in some retail therapy. I still need to get a sofa and loveseat, so maybe I’ll head up to a furniture store I’ve been wanting to check out.

She’s starting to like the iPhone, now that she’s getting used to it. She said last night that she can take pictures of her flyers, which she couldn’t on her LG. I’ve been talking up Siri for navigation and getting information. (Unfortunately, when I’ve tried to use it when she’s in the car we’ve been in areas of poor coverage. She’ll come around.)

Huh, after a series of bongs, I think I’d sleep quite well…

Yeah, I’m childish. So?

Was irking today- but I was the only one on- there’s normally about 5 of us. I’m actually not sure if I should have been irking or not, but there was some stuff to do, and no-one told me not to log on today. It’s not as though I had anything much else to do anyway.

It’s not all that warm out, but it is sunny, and I have some big chocolate aigs to eat (see: childish), so I’m generally happy. I may venture out for a wander around the park while the sun’s still out; I’m trying to make myself go out for walkies more, seeing as though I’m sat in all day staring at an assortment of screens. Spring is sproinging away in a very pretty fashion, and the park’s quite nice, if a bit busy.

First thing that popped into my mind, too.

I have exhausted the old man, and the kitchen is clean, and the apartment dusted. Vacuuming next!

So, I am super-duper excited about this teensy tiny little corn snake I bought for myself. She’s beeeeeyoooootiful and very chill for a corn snake.

She’s due to eat. Being so little, it’s not like she can skip meals for long.

Guess who doesn’t have any tiny pups of suitable size? That’s right, the nine or so colonies of feeder rodents I feed and clean up after. I had to drive to PetCo (was surprised they were open on Easter holiday) and had to BUY frozen pinkie mice, like some non-rodent-breeding plebeian.

The outrage!

Well, she ate, so I’m happy.

Thus endeth the odd errands of my morning.

I’m relieved for you!

Babby snek pics?

I got one and found that there wasn’t much difference between what I could accomplish with the air fryer vs the toaster oven or regular oven. I am giving it away, since I don’t need more things on the counter. YMMV

I am sooooo lucky that there isn’t a DQ close enough to get delivery. It’s a guilty pleasure. The kids occasionally make noises about Coldstone, but I usually hold my ground.

Thought - have you considered fostering a dog to see how it went? I find it’s not much work at all and dogs are great companions.

Did you already share the recipe? It sounds great. I wonder if I could make some and freeze it.

My first thought too. :stuck_out_tongue:

The weather today seems to be N.O.S. and mid-60s. We’re scheduled to have Easter dinner with my folks after the NCAA championship game is done (women’s). They know one of the coaches and have followed the team obsessively over the years. Go Card! (Insert mild b*tching over game being on Easter)

I have booked a hotel near the hospital for the week 'Beamette will be there. Now I am trying to decide whether I will be Uber-ing that week, or taking the car (parking is an issue).

I’ve had coffee and now must decide about breakfast. I am so tired. Maybe more coffee?

Happy Easter to those that celebrate. Happy Sunday to everyone!

If I remember correctly, you’re supposed to check with the mods before you start an AMA.

I made pancakes for breakfast – keto and sugar-free maple syrup for me, and Krusteaz and boysenberry syrup for Mrs. L.A. Two rashers each, and two eggs for me.

The pot roast is in the oven, and might be ready around 14:30. It’s 3.8 pounds, and nearly as thick as it is wide. I seared the meat on all sides, then did ‘dad’s recipe’: Sprinkle with Lipton Onion Soup Mix, top with cream of mushroom soup, and add veg. I did red potatoes instead of dad’s russetts, deleted the green bell peppers, and put in carrots, a halved onion, and a bunch of whole mushrooms.

This is basically the same, but I didn’t do the separate layers. I think I’ll try that next time.

Happy Easter, everyone! If you’re not religious, celebrate bunnies. They deserve celebrating. Except when they eat up your garden. 'Tis cloudy here with an expected high of 51.

I’m dealing with stressy personal stuff I won’t go into here. My plans include a walk and dealing with that stuff. I have no special meal planned because it’s just me and because I’m not hungry due to said stress. But enough about me.

shoe, glad you’re happy with the corn snake. I looked 'em up, and they’re beautiful. For some reason, the frozen mice creep me out. Not sure why when mice in general don’t bother me at all. I hope they look like they’re peacefully asleep. Do snakes have individual personalities? If so, how are they expressed?

Emily G, I read that thread to see what you were talking about, and I agree that some people were pretty harsh. Luckily the big, squooshy, ever-friendly MMP is here 24/7.

What’s an AMA?

We stopped at Texas Roadhouse for lunch, so we probably won’t want supper. I’ve helped FCD move his arbor press (it’s a heavy sucker!!!) and I cleaned the pellet stove as well as I could - the pros will have at it next month.

The poke roast is back in the fridge - I’m going to rotiss it tomorrow. Still haven’t loaded the dishwasher, but I’ll get to it. Eventually…

In this context, I’m guessing Ask Me Anything.

Thanks, flyboy.

In my world (nursey medical) AMA means Against Medical Advice, for when a patient chooses to not do a treatment against medical advice or decides to leave the hospital before the doctor discharges them. It’s a thorny do-si-so to avoid liability from choices made against medical advice.

Guessing that isn’t what our Emily G is referring to though.

I have one of those kittens too-does the same thing. Also likes to jump into baskets of clean clothes and do it. Laundry gets put away at warp speed at Chez Boo. She is our special needs kitteh.

taters glad the dog fence has been rehomed. Bet those dog will enjoy it. Good luck with the lawn mowing. I have perfect mowing weather here, wish I could send you some.

flyboy nice that MrsFB is enjoying her iPhone. I’ve had various ones the last eight years (I get my youngest kid’s as a hand me down when he upgrades) and they’ve always done well by me. I’m always finding new things they can do. Check it the ebook apps your public library offers then she can always have a book to read right there in her phone (or 10 ). My library does Libby and Overdrive. Books, music, TV and movies in your hand~~~magic! And free.
