Yes, We Have No Bananas, An Ever Green MMP

Great minds insure alike? My coverage seems better than last year’s. Thank goodness for that.

I just drained my FSA today to pay for the colon remodeling, and the surgery itself consumed my out of pocket max. I think all that’s left to pay is about $250. Still haven’t seen a statement of what the sepsis treatment cost, and might never since it’s 100% covered.

The block has been a separate purchase since ~ iPhone 5. When they first began that, when we fulfilled a claim on them, our CSRs always made sure to check to see if another was needed.

Howdy Y’all! Been a day of sloth for the both of us. Outside of makin’ and consumin’ sup and cleanin’ up the kitchen, no productivity occurred at all. Go Us!

I read all, but retention is zero, so yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

I’ve decided to make a completely new (for me) dessert recipe for the family dinner on Easter Sunday. It’s called Simnel cake, and it’s British, according to the recipes I’ve reviewed. It was either that, or the Gateau St. Honore. The latter is named for the patron saint of pastry chefs. Sound tasty, but even more complicated than the Simnel cake.

If you’ve had experience making this cake, can you give me tips?

Sorry, I meant the cord was a lightning cord. Mrs. L.A.'s computer isn’t even compatible with our 5G Internet.

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced and dinner procured and assimilated. My big toe is aching (started with no warning while shopping this afternoon) and I’m hoping I just turned it wrong, since my back-brain is whispering “gout” in my ear. We’ll see how it feels tomorrow.

Got a couple of appointments booked for gutter replacement quotes this week, one guy told me they’re backed up until Mid-may with work, but I’ve had the same gutters for 24 years so a couple months won’t set me back. Had planned to pay for them with my tax refunds, which still haven’t shown up. I’ll manage.

Cupcakes!! {tacklehug} Long time no see. Missed your posts, and us offering the primo baker in the MMP tips? Hope it comes out good.

And VanGo, haven;t seen you for a week or so, which is a long time in these parts…chunky milk is bad for you (just tossed some today with a expiration date of today as I wasn’t going to use it until Wednesday) and yeah for client liking your work.

Gotti, Wizard, glad insurance is covering most of your costs. Hate to think what it would be like if you lacked adequate (or any) coverage.

FCM, think FCD is being smart not trying to push on through the night. Get 8-9 hours rest and come home somewhat in balance.

OK, need to finish internettin’ and do some readin’ before bedtime. Catch y’all on 2sday.

I had my cover blow across my deck once. The BBQ was still in it though. Torrnados rock!

It’s for the MS. :frowning:

Please let us know. Verizon is riding my last nerve.

Guess who got home around 1:45 of the AM? And guess who was awake because of a creepy nightmare? And guess who’s still awake… ok, it’s both of us. He’s watching TV to wind down and I’m just rested enough that I can’t fall back to sleep. Ugh.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

I’m not a baker, but
: tacklehug :

{{{{FCD and FCM}}}}

Up, dressed, breakfasting, caffeinating, but not quite awake. Less than 4 hours sleep, and I have the RoxStar today. It will be… challenging.

The nightmare I mentioned - in it I witnessed someone being murdered with a baseball bat - the killer swung and hit the head out of the park like a fly ball! Apart from the horror of the dream, I lay there wondering if one really could behead another with a baseball bat. Not that I have any plans… and it’s not like I can control where my brain goes at night.

It’s 37° at the moment and we’re promised sun and 68° eventually. Maybe playground after lunch, but I’m not sure about the morning. I don’t suppose I can get her to nap…

And so it goes. Happy Tuesday, such as it is.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear, with a predicted high of 78 and possibly rain this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB have willy-nilly down to an art these days. Thus, today is a regular Spring day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. Sup shall be pot roast with baby N.O.T. and carrots, butterbeans, and cornbread. Ya know, I guess I should call it slow cooker roast.

CupCakes ::tacklehug:: good to see ya! I looked up both recipes. YUM! I have no advice to give. Then again, when I do make a cake, the first step is open the box of cake mix. Perhaps I should have spoilered that so as not to give you a case of the vapors at the mention of cake mix. :woman_cook:

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Still blustering noisily up here. (That’s a terrific line, BTW.)

Sure ya did, lady. You moved to Nebraska!

My very best wishes for your sister’s improved health.

Heh. :slightly_smiling_face:

They’re showing off for each other. Can’t be the one guy who can’t maneuver his truck into the weird, tight little spot, not in front of the other boys!

Party hearty!

You go, girl!

As with many things in life, this is a conclusion she has to arrive at herself. I know all y’all keep telling her this & she’s resisting listening … later, it’ll be up to you to resist saying “Told you so.” (You are, of course, allowed to think it to yourself, repeatedly.)

You’n’me both!

Supposedly a new hire is starting today. Which is good. Long term. But for today, it’s prolly gonna mean a LOT of mis-packed orders and long customer wait times and running back & forth to fix shit while customers yell at me for it.

Ah, well. I have an Amazon order on the way that I’m looking forward to receiving.

It’s been maybe 90 minutes and she’s worn me out already!! I gave her my tablet to entertain her for a while. We’ll go play in the basement in a little while.

I was looking for pre-schools around here thinking a few days a week of socializing would be good for her. But dang, 3 half-days a week is $200/month, and that’s the cheapest one. eeeeesh… Guess we’ll rely on the playground for socialization.

Afternoon, mumpers! It is looking glorious outside today, I ventured out for a quick scoot across the road to post a card and it was indeed lovely. Weather app says “It’s fair as fuck outside” and promises me 19C/66F and mostly sunny. For once I’ve got no reason to argue with that.

Moooom hope FCD had an uneventful trip home and is getting some well-deserved rest. I’m sorry to continue reading about MIL’s stubbornness but perhaps she will finally be getting the wake-up call she needs once he’s back home and she has to face the reality of his condition.

CupCakes welcome back! We missed you!! My mum used to make Simnel Cake at easter, I love it because it’s got loads of marzipan on it and I could quite happily sit in the corner with a block of marzipan and a spoon

I had a bad night’s sleep, for some reason I was awake many times although I wasn’t aware of anything in particular disturbing me. Perhaps it was the excitement of knowing my entire morning would be taken up with preparing a training presentation Said presentation is now complete and I’ve sent it off to a couple of people for comments and to see what vital step I’ve missed. There’s always something, right?

And now I have to go to a webinar about quizzes on our virtual learning environment. Go on, admit it. You’re jealous, aren’t you?

All the carpet and tackboard in the family room is now GONE! Yay! Now that leaves us to call in a floor specialist and see what needs doing. My husband is convinced that the floor is destroyed beyond repair because the previous owners apparently got nail happy at some point and drove these enormous nails down into the sub-floor, but I’m hoping it’ll just take a solid refinishing. Guess we’ll find out.

Today is also stitches removal day! At least I hope it is. I was told a week, and I’ll be super excited not to feel a tug every time I close my hand.

Wait…did I just see that there is a cake with marzipan?!? That sounds absolutely incredible.

CupCakes - Would you believe that Tasting History did Simnel Cake last week?

I did a thing I haven’t done in a long time: I got Chick-fil-A breakfast.

Cons:

  • Their politics are abhorrent, and I resent that they drag their anti-gay-rights stance into the food business sphere.
  • They’re closed Sundays, which would otherwise normally be a big “go get breakfast out” day for me. Again with dragging, now Christian dogma, into the food biz world.
  • Their weird cult-y “It’s my pleasure to serve you” shtick they force their employees to constantly say is damn nauseating.

Pros:

  • Those wee little Chicken Minis are little pillowy clouds of happiness.

From what I understand of child care costs, that’s … quite reasonable?

As someone who was rather poorly socialized as a child - and will pay the price all my life - I’d say, go for it, if you can swing it, even for a bit. See how she likes it.

(You know those puppies that want to play with other dogs, but have no idea how, so they wind up inadvertently starting a fight? That’s … um … well, slightly less me, now, after decades of re-teaching myself how to human.)

Afternoon all.

The weather is indeed scorchio (by English March standards) today, so of course a housemate-who-shall-remain-unnamed thought it was a splendid plan to whack the heating up full last night and leave it, because she felt in a wee bit chilly standing round on an uncarpeted floor barefoot in jammies.

She’s out all day, I am not.

Even though I leave the heating off in my room almost all the time, with the window open almost all the time, the ambient heat of the house leaves me boiling. Why does the heating even go up to a setting of 30°C anyway? I’m Northern English, I start melting when it hits 25°C…

Anyway, nowt much else is going on. At least with the clocks going back last week, I can go walkies in the park after work now, which is nice.

Oh, and Baker- I think I’ve had simnel cake; I believe the crucial component is wee chocolate aigs. Plonked on top, decorating the side, or just shovelled into the cook’s mouth, all fine- but by tradition, they should be involved.

Morning all. Body convinced brain to stay in bed until 9:15am, so I’m still fully waking up. Soccer coaching is on the agenda this afternoon, but nothing much else on-line. Temperatures are supposed to read Nut-melting levels (77F or 25C) today, but tunder-boomers and rain are due tonight and tomorrow.

FCM, $200/month for 12 sessions (3 wk for 4 wks) is about $17/session, so not massively unreasonable IMHO…but your call. And I see FCD didn’t take his own good advice yesterday…hope he gets caught up today. (and you’re able to stay awake).

talky, good luck with the floor.

Ok, Instant Breakfast has been assimilated and there are a couple things to get done, so best be about it. All y’all take care.

Good morning! Off to the eye doc’s in a bit. Always a fun time. I just flunked the eye chart a week ago, but they keep making me retake the class. I’m so tempted to say, “I can see! The first line is, ‘Call me Ishmael.’”

FCM, $200 a week for three half-days is cheap! Daycare costs have gone up and up. Grab the smelling salts before you look at pre-K in a couple of years. I’m glad FCD is home. It’s so sweet how you two miss each other when he’s gone.

MetalMouse, Nut can melt? :hushed: Have fun coaching today!

shoe, I’ve never been to Chick-Fil-A and probably will never go for all the reasons you list. (I’m Christian but not that kind of Christian.) There isn’t one around here anyway.

Yikes! Running late now!
