Yes, We Have No Bananas, An Ever Green MMP

Sounds like a hot mess. I did a quick double-check with hubby who does this sort of thing on the off chance that he knew of a tool, but no luck.

Evening all. We practiced soccer for about 50 minutes and then the rains came, after 6-7 minutes of it, I called off practice. Of course, soon as we stopped practicing and everybody headed home, the rain stopped. Tunder-Boomers are due tonight along with a major drop in the temperature tomorrow.

Mac-n-Cheese is quietly digesting and all is well. I visit Red Robin about once every two months because my calorie intake there is…large. Which reminds me, my monthly 5 Guys trip hasn’t occurred for March yet, so maybe tomorrow…

wordy, hope the stitches don’t cause itches.

{{nellie}}. Eyes are always problems. Take care.

red, dicey, may your respective irk-places get better.

Not a chicken-sammich fancier, so I skip all those places.

OK all, going to watch a little basket-ball and do some readin’. All y’all take care.

Gods, am I tired. Okay, just ONE more day of work, and then I get two - two!! - days off. You can do this, shoe.

I had homemade black beans thawing in the fridge, but succumbed on the way home and picked up a cheeseburger from a local joint that happens to also make good fries.

Greasy, saucy, messy bliss. The beans (and fartfest to follow) will have to wait.

I needed some pet supplies at the Gettin’ Store this morning, and saw they had laser pointers. “Well,” thought I, “Perhaps Monkey will enjoy chasing the little red dot.”

Folks, I’ve created a monster.

He was all amped up when I came home, chasing Nikki nonstop and generally being an ass … too much energy, that’s all. So I busted out the new toy, and he LURVES it.

Yay!

After a few minutes, I give him a break so I can have a few bites of dinner, then we play some more.
Now, I want to relax with my Plants Vs Zombies for a bit, and I put the laser pointer away.

He won’t stop searching for it, meowing, crying pitifully. Good grief!

A big chunk of my Amazon order arrived, right on time. That was nice.

Okay, imma crash here soon. Sweet dreams, Mumper buddies.

the city doesn’t have an option at like a community room at a park ? thats how my 2nd oldest nephew went to preschool ..although there was some blow back espically in the summer because the preschool took over the parks until 1 pm ..

Shoe theres a debate amoung cat circles if pointers are a good thing becuase although they like chasing it once they realize they cant catch it or dont catch anything real they get fustrated/upset … my tub o’ feline soulved that problem by herself tho… when she wants to punce it shell smack i or grab it out of your hands and carry it off …

Well, there’s the problem right there. I don’t like mornings. :expressionless: Unless I haven’t gone to bed yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have never had Popeye’s, but there’s one in Zurich. So I hope to try them sometime. I’ve been to Chik Fil A with my sister-in-law, but never on my own. I don’t remember anything great about their chicken or fries, just their peach shake. But good milk shakes are hard to come by in Switzerland. According to their site, the chocolate milk shakes have mustard in them.

And the nearest Five Guys is in Geneva. They also do not have peach shakes, I think.

Got to go take the first load out of the washer and start the second load. It’s sheets and mattress cover day, so lots of fun.

Have a good Wednesday!

Do not miss the red beans ‘n’ rice. They’re wonderful!

That’s … like, gotta be a misprint or something. (I refuse to exist in a world where chocolate and mustard are allowed to co-mingle.)

One tip I picked up from that Jackson Galaxy guy on Animal Planet (he’s the kitty equivalent of Cesar Milan “The Dog Whisperer”) is to end a play session by tossing the cat a treat or two to catch & eat.
This mimics a successful hunt - kitty catches something tasty with its paws and claws - and ends the playtime with a feeling of feline accomplishment.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to carnival?) out with a predicted high of 86 and somewhat N.O.S. for the day. Thus today is Sprng/Summer. The next two days the highs will be 61 and 60 respectively, so back to Spring/Fall. Weather be weird! Groceries shall be procured today along with a fresh ham (got one reserved at the Pubic Sto’) for Sunday’s Easter Feast. Eight of us (all of whom have been shot twice) will gather at da cave Sunday afternoon around two o’clock to make merry and feast. YAY! I shall also betake myself to the church house for some church janitor Junior Warden duties. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, woe, and bother, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is just so demandin’!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Awake and actually rested, despite my bladder rousing me 3 times during the night. I was pretty tahred, to be sure. FCD is still crashed, but he didn’t come to bed till late, as is his habit. I don’t know how late, as I was unconscious.

nellie - since we eat out a fair bit, mostly at chains around here, I was able to look up the so-called nutrition info on some of my favorite dishes. Holy crap on a cracker, it’s a wonder I didn’t balloon up more than I did! Some items had more calories in a serving than I’m trying to eat in a whole day! Like RR’s fish-n-chips is over 1500 calories, and the mountain high mudd pie is over 1300! I’ve never had the mudd pie, tho I’ve been tempted, and now I sincerely doubt that I could, just knowing… At least they offer the option of broccoli instead of fries. I do like broccoli… not as much as fries, tho.

shady - we live in a very rural county - no cities to speak of. In non-plague times, the local libraries have story time/play time for toddlers, but those only last about an hour once a week. The public preschool is Head Start and Daughter and SIL probably make too much to qualify for that, tho they will look into it.

I found out my niece is paying over $1k/month for her son to go to a private day care/preschool. Then again, she teaches at a boarding school, and her housing is free, so she and her husband can afford that and not feel the squeeze too much.

The day is starting overcast and dreary and the forecast moved up the arrival of the rain by a few hours. How much I get done outside is now in doubt, and the next two day we won’t get out of the 40s, so I doubt that I’ll rake in that. Maybe I’ll try to make the basement a bit less of a disaster. There are several boxes of assorted crap that need to go out to FCD’s shop. I’ll need to take the cart down to haul it all - several trips - but it’s got to be done.

For now, tho, caffeination continues in the quiet. Happy Wednesday!

Morning all. Up at 0630 so nappage is likely later. 63F now and that’s supposed to be as warm as we get, temperatures headed for the mid-40’s and close to freezing tonight. Did manage to rescue the paper between raindrops, so puzzles will be available for solving.

Need to make up the Great April Shopping List sometime today, not as much as usual as I’ve been doing some quick stops 1-2 times a week lately, but still need to stock up on the bulk items.

OK, need to finish waking up and wonder how long I can wait before sammich-n-soup can be prepared. All y’all take care.

I’m with Dicey regarding Chik-fil-a and their peach shakes. A good peach milkshake is hard to come by. Mmm… Just two more months until Peach Season.

Mrs Magill’s chemo pump decided to start beeping at one-thirty last night. It took a couple of calls to the doctor’s office and the manufacturer to get it to stop. No one was quite sure what the error was for. We think it was just out of medicine. She has her follow up appointment this afternoon, so we’ll see. In the meantime, I’m wondering what possessed me to give up caffeine for Lent.

FCM a good quality daycare will get expensive. When the boys were small, about half of my salary went to day care tuition.

Wifey, RN finally found a COVID vaccine shot. She got the J&J one yesterday.

Flyboy, I’m so glad the Mrs. was able to find a shot!

nellie, I’m glad there was no need to throw things - trying to figure out what the heck is going on with one’s own body is excruciatingly frustrating. I’m sorry.

And I hope Mrs. Magill’s appointment goes well today - and that you both get some rest!

My finger is looking slightly better this morning. Still surprisingly “open” after having had stitches, but I suppose since the slice went almost to the bone, one would expect it wouldn’t completely close all that quickly. I’m guessing the stitches were intended to hold it closed long enough it could start closing up from the inside out.

I have a Big Important Meeting this afternoon and it’ll involve video. Ick. Not only do I need to make sure I don’t have kids dancing around or doing handstands behind me, I ought to put on some makeup, which I haven’t worn since last July. Oh, and I dyed my hair burgundy about a month ago, so…oops. In my defense, at 45, I can dye my hair any damn color I want.

I also just heard from my boss that there will probably be a massive reorg soon, likely to involve me. Since she didn’t tell me to start looking, I assume that means there’s a spot for me, but we shall see, eventually anyway.

We got the big-ass heavy sheet metal roller out of the truck, and I ended up with a bruised foot because of it. Ice has helped, so there’s that. Needless to say, no rakeage has occurred. But I did watch 2 episodes of Anna Karenina and I crocheted, so I accomplished something.

We just finished lunch. I think I’ll run to Food Lion for a few things before the rain starts. Chickie-rice-veggie soup for supper. At least that decision was made.

Ain’t that a delight? Bad enough if a smoke detector decides to turn into a chirping bird at such a time, but an infusion pump is more like “Oh shit, this thing trying to keep me/them alive is broken!”

Someone screwed up the scheduling if the pump ran dry at 1:30 AM. My late husband’s IV bags were changed q48h, and there was about two hours of “leftover” built into the bags, so no panic if we weren’t able to swap them at exactly 4:00 PM.

Another possibility is a kink in the line between it and her, and just moving will clear that.

I have a brand new great-niece! Celebrations across the nation! (My siblings and I live on the east coast, in the Midwest, in the Deep South, and on the West Coast respectively.) We’re waiting to learn the name, the one bit they’ve kept secret. I’m guessing they’re going to have their toddler “announce” it somehow.

I’m making Easter cookies this morning. Maybe I’ll post a photo later. And I’m planning another long walk. I have to get in better shape for being able to get back to the gym in a couple weeks, kinda like cleaning before the housecleaner.

wordy, hopefully @BippityBoppityBoo will weigh in, as this is her area of expertise, but I don’t think the cut should still look “open.” I guess the docs saw it, though, and didn’t comment or use Steri-Strips? If it’s not completely healed and is still oozy, I wonder if you couldn’t apply Steri-Strips on your own? (Well, with help–two-handed job.)

FCM, yeeouch! Hope that bruise doesn’t hurt too much…not that that’d stop indomitable you. I’ve been to Red Robin exactly once. Had their scrumptious Black ‘n’ Bleu Burger and a boozy milkshake. I probably had over 3000 calories. But it was a celebration: my first outing after cancer surgery. I haven’t been back (like you said, a calorie avalanche), but when I walk by, it’s not the aroma of broccoli that makes my mouth water. I like broccoli, but let’s face it, fries are sexier…until they get to the hips.

Magic, hope Mrs. Magic’s doctor’s appointment goes well.

MetalMouse, was the soup-and-sandwich for lunch or breakfast? Inquiring minds want to know.

General announcement: I went through and did some housecleaning on my Facebook Friends. If I accidentally unfriended any of you, please let me know.

Wizard best wishes to your wife. You both have enough going on without malfunctioning medical equipment.

Talky I agree - dye your hair any color you like, says the woman with purple hair. Since your boss mentioned the re-org, can you ask her if you need to worry? As you say, probably no need, but it might not hurt to probe a little on this point.

nellie congrats to you and the new parents on the little one. Huzzah! Cleaning before the housekeeper at this point will take a few days. Quarantine. I’m going with that.

flyboy congrats to the missus on the shot. J&J is only the one, which is awesome.

I’m very muddle-headed today. Don’t know why. I must off to feed this incredibly starved Chi-hoo-ah-hoo-ah before he perishes before my eyes. (I don’t know why I thought cats ruled at this game. Pixel should teach classes in it.)

Happy Weds all!

ETA: I saw you Swampy!!

It’s been raining for almost 4 hours now. I got the things I wanted from Food Lion and managed to cram everything into the freezers. Guess I should start cooking some of it. I did pull out a sack of chicken stock and a large chickie tit, and it’s simmering right now. Shortly, I’ll add celery and carrots and rice. Then supper will be done - well, done once everything is cooked thru.

I finished watching Anna Karenina - that was one messed up woman! I don’t know what Vronsky put up with her! Then I started watching a documentary on the Plantagenets. For some unknown reason, of late I’ve found programs on various and sundry British/English monarchs to be really interesting. Maybe to reassure me that the US isn’t the only government with issues??

And I walked 45 minutes on the treadmill. My foot is purple and feels bruised, but I’m pretty sure nothing is broken. I imagine if it was, treading the mill would have been next to impossible.

OK, to the kitchen with me. Them veggies won’t chop themselves!

Just got back from a doctor visit. Not a surgeon visit, not a specialist visit. Just my old familiar primary care guy (who I’ve been seeing for about thirty years) that I’ve grown to like, and he knows that if I say something’s wrong, it is.

All is going well with my recovery, and the minor issues I’m having are expected. He’s also had a chunk of colon removed for the same reason as me, so he knows first-hand what I’m experiencing.

Now to stare at the contents of the deep freeze and contemplate dinner.

I’m actually kinda hoping for the 4-6" of snow they’re calling for tomorrow. I want a good excuse to not leave the house.

Now, hmmm. what’s fer dinner?
