If this sort of thing is your bag, go to the bottom of my linked article and follow the breadcrumbs. I admit that I downloaded it, mainly because I find it to be extremely subversive and rebellious to do so, but I have the feeling that when I do play it it’ll be like watching the Budd Dwyer video: so disturbing that I wish I had never seen it, but so compellingly creepy that I can’t turn away.
Just as I did previously, I leave it for you people to decide. I’ll be back with my thoughts on the game in a bit.
Given that it was developed by one guy using an off-the-shelf RPG maker, I see it as the SNES RPG geek equivalent of someone writing a pro-Columbine essay on a personal blog. I mean, not even Rockstar Games would do anything this tacky…
As I suspected, while not particularly graphic, the game is creepy. Lots of screeds and bitterness with some extremely ironic statements (clearly the author’s own) about things in general. Like music: one of the comments goes to how music will be blamed for the massacre. There are others like that scattered throughout, and I’m just getting started. Also, it has some interesting character names. Like “Openly Gay Guy”, who takes the least amount of damage and thus far always gives Klebold and Harris a hot dog. Yes, you read that correctly. There’s also churchgoers who get hit points back by praying, jock-types, nerds, cherubic girls, etc. Yeah, I guess this guy figured that if he was going to offend he was going all the way.
Anyway, it’s a Final Fantasy-type game, and kinda boring to boot. Were it not for the creepiness factor I probably would have turned it off by now. But I can’t because apparently you have to fight your way through Hell sooner or later. As an added bonus, one of the weapons you can get is Napalm. No, I’m not quitting. I’ve gone too far to turn back now.
