[singalong]O-o-o-krahoma, where the wind comes sweeping through his brain.[/singalong]
I’d like to challenge this! I enjoy a good hoax.
Back in the mid 1930s, members of the Harvard Lampoon printed up a phony front page for the New York Times, then ran around campus just before dawn, folding it over every delivered copy. The headline was MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE HITS ATHENS; ACROPOLIS TOPPLES. The head of the Classics department was so broken up he canceled all classes for the day.
One of the below-the-fold headlines was WALRUS IN CENTRAL PARK ZOO SPEAKS. Since the hoax only covered the front page, curious readers were disappointed when they turned to page 18 to see what the walrus had to say.
Torture-supporters have the moral high ground over vandals, I guess.
I’m sure you can. What percentage of hate crimes are “hoaxes”?
It could be “a certain percentage of hate crimes are hoaxes, therefore it is inadvisable to jump to conclusions when an alleged incident comes to light,” a completely sensible statement with which I would agree.
But we’re talking about Okrahoma here, so the sights need be fixed a lot lower— e.g. “a certain percentage of hate crimes are hoaxes, therefore all of them are” or “a certain percentage of hate crimes are hoaxes, therefore blacks should shut the fuck up and leftists are stupid and conservatives are awesome and please, please let me find somebody else to sneer at so I don’t have to think about the crushing disappointment that is my own life.”
This.
Okrahoma, feel free to correct me if I’m off base here, but everything about your posts in this thread seems to me to indicate that you’re going for the same dishonest bullshit Milo went for in this shitstain of an article:
It will do them no good. Despite the scaremongering, bigotry in western nations is in terminal decline. Soon, only the hoaxes will remain.
Of course, the problem here is that this opinion is woefully stupid. Hate crimes see hoaxes at similar rates to other major crimes like murder, burglary, and rape.
Can you point out exactly which of my posts in this thread seemed to indicate any kind of “dishonest bullshit”. Feel free to quote them.
Simply from my perspective, it’s more about how your posts always seem to communicate an implication that to not be a supporter of the America-hating shitstain currently defiling the Oval Office is to be a “leftist.”
That in itself, is bullshit.
You have to remember, to a Shitstain supporter, even someone who is squarely in the middle of the conservative side is “to the left”.
Ah, so it’s about your fantasies, not about my posts. Gotcha.
It’s the subtext, which you would realize if you read a few more works into my post, buttmunch.
Seriously dude? Cauliflower is just nasty. About the only thing worse is brussels sprouts. And egg plant.
Do you share Milo’s opinion that hate crimes are mostly or entirely hoaxes? What percentage of hate crimes do you believe to be hoaxes?
I know, right? That recipe is a hate crime against potatoes.
I think you (and most of the other people in this thread) might be reading a bit too much into this. Whichever side of the political spectrum you fall on, everyone has a reason to be angry when hoaxes like this occur.
It makes it much easier for the other side to post just the sort of “see? It’s just a bunch of false flag nonsense!” stuff that you are ascribing to Okrahoma here.
Not entirely. But a significant percentage is hoaxes. I don’t know exactly what. But just the fact that I can cite a few dozen such for you (and those are just the ones that were uncovered, how many weren’t?) should give you pause.
Except kaylasdad99 loves potatoes … a cup of Potato Buds, cup of boiling water, salt pepper butter to taste … to die for …
We should still pit this stuff rather than make excuses or justify it by saying the other side does it too.
We recently had some vandalism at a local JCC. They caught the guy. He had mental issues. Didn’t we have a thread a while back arguing that crazy people were mostly republican/conservative?
Hey, what happens to the idiots who fake these crimes? Do they get charged with anything?
I hate when this happens, whether it is from the left or the right. I see it as a waste of law-enforcement resources. There are enough real crimes being committed out there; the police don’t need to be chasing after phantoms.
+1.
