Unlike the ever-patient Czarcasm (How’s that for a phrase you don’t expect to hear every day?), I’m no longer willing to give you the benifit of the doubt and assume your friends pulled a quick one on you and never bothered to let you in on the gag. I personally know a bag lady who’s damn near a hermit (the government’s trying to monitor her thoughts, see, so she’s gotta keep changing her name and whereabouts and staying away from public places), and she invented “The Simpsons”. Matt Groening is one of her clever psedonyms, and she’s hired an actor to play his part for appearances and press junkets. I can’t wait 'til she kicks off and leaves me her vast fortune.
Personally, I find it amusing that he insults you for believing what you read on Usenet (after being shown several non-Usenet sources for the same inforamtion) while at the same time expecting you to believe him, when all he offers is the unverifiable vague claim of one anonymous individual over the internet. Then again, in Chas.E’s world, he’s a reliable source of information, and an expert in all manner of things, and no one should have any reason to disagree with him.
Oh, yeah, I should have mentioned that part in the rant, too. (Although I did mention it in the post asking for the apology that is still outstanding.)
Don’t forget that he doesn’t even offer their names to allow for a little independant verification, but just says it wasn’t Shooter, O’Niel, Mantlo, or Macchio.

My official prediction: Chas will start by claiming that everyone is ganging up on him. He may accuse the people who have already posted to this thread of belonging to the SDMB clique, or of being the victims of groupthink. He may or may not compare himself to a historic figure.
Specific questions and complaints directed at Chas will not be answered. In response he may ignore the questions completely, claim “I already explained that” when in fact he hasn’t, claim that he is being unfairly attacked, or (and I think this one is the most likely) post inflammatory and poorly-worded jibberish which is only tangentially related to the questions/complaints being discussed.
After a short time, when no-one has stepped foreward to agree with Chas, he will make one last post to this thread. Everyone who disagreed with him will be accused of ignorance, stupidity, and/or deceitfulness. He will assert one more time that only he knows the full truth of whatever it is that we’re discussing, but since we’ve pissed him off he is no longer willing to share his bountiful knowledge. He may compare himself to another historic figure. He will claim that it is useless to try to talk to any of us since we are all part of the clique/hivemind, or since we are too young to understand, or since we use Windows PCs, or since we watch different television programs from him, or since we just simply refuse to believe everything he says. He will claim to have “won” this thread through some kind of spurious logic, then tell us that he is taking his ball and bat and going home.
It’s neat. I’ve known wind-up toys with a greater range of behavioral patterns than Chas.E.
Maybe Chas will suprise me, and not perform in exactly the way I have outlined above… Maybe he will take this chance to discuss things rationally, eloquently demonstrating his points with logic and evidence. By the end of the day he and Tengu could well be fast friends.
I give ten to one odds against any of that happening.

I really don’t give a rat-turd about Chas.E, I haven’t thought Transformers since, well, ever, and I wouldn’t care if they were invented by Cheech and Chong. I just wanted to post in here to make sure I’m included in “The Clique”.
Well, other than the fact that the terminology is mixed up (manga is comic books, anime is animation), there are some who are under the impression that Transformers was Japanese created, and even those that know the truth are willing to give it a ‘pass’ because it hit Japan pretty quickly.
On the other hand, Transformers was created by Hasbro Toys, then fleshed out by Jim Shooter and Denny O’Niel, so beyond that, Chas’s comment is still full of shit.
I love this. I honestly think that this is my new favorite quote ever. Chas is approaching JDT levels here. Because everybody knows that drawing graphic novels and comics is such a lucrative industry. :rolleyes:
