If it helps, RT, I’m sending warm and cuddley thoughts your way.
Oh, sure!
I get smarmy backtalk!
He gets cuddles!
It’s the beard, isn’t it? It better not be a Maryland thing.
Nan, Lucretia just likes me better than you. (How many times has she sat in your lap? ;))
That’s sweet of you, Lucretia! An afternoon of Christmas shopping in Annapolis both warmed me up and boosted my spirits. Our power was off for awhile while I was gone, so I’m holding off until 8pm to turn the heat back on. But hopefully the house ought to be warm by bedtime.
Propane, my friend, propane.
Stick with the reliable.
Are you saying Lucretia’s not reliable? Or are we strictly confining our discussion to conventional sources of warmth?
I’ve got a wife with OCD. She’s nervous about propane. So that’s out, at least for the foreseeable future.
Anyway, the heat pump’s been back on for a couple of hours. The temp at the thermostat has gone from a chilly 54º to a tolerable 62º. By morning, everything should be back to normal. Thank goodness.
We’ve just had a new heater installed in the bathroom, and on Monday will have a new one in the kitchen. I am trying my best not to freeze people out!
It was cold, cold, cold this morning. I think it was 5 F in Charlestown when I got off work. I knew I was in for a miserable ride home. The thermostat in the cherokee has been flakey for a while. The engine doesn’t seem to get up to normal temperature. So I ended up freezing to death on the way home. Brrrrrr.
More on the Auto Front. My GF narrowly avioded a maiming Friday. It seems that my pretty (haha) camo-colored CJ-7 decided it didn’t want to run any more. Right on busy Rt340. While some kind hearted soul had taken her to go get help, someone came speeding up the hill and smacked the hell outta it. She said it was pushed about 8 feet up the hill (with a locked drivetrain, no less).
I can only imagine what might have happened had she still been with the vehicle. She would have either been in it when it got hit (bad!). Or she would have been in front or behind it (horrible!!). I’m very thankful that someone stopped to help her.
So my GF is okay, but the CJ is toast. Knocked the rear axle loose on the left. I’ll have the beast towed to my house and figure out what to do with it later. I loved that Jeep.
And if that isn’t bad enough… My other GF’s car has front end issues. Gotta get that fixed. Then I have to buy another car for GF #2 to get around it for now. I guess I know where my bonus check is going this year.
If you wanna believe it’s the beard, then okay, it’s all about the beard.
But if it helps, I could give you some cuddles at the WeirdNorth Holiday fest.
We’re still in play for the Weird-North fest due to an office party. It’s tough to weasel out when you’re up the food chain.
Theios…woof, I’m sorry about the CJ. Lady Chance (another Jeep Woman, if you’ll recall) actually winced when I told her. She sends her sympathies.
What is it about women and their Jeeps, anyway?
OK, MADs…
It’s happening again. Current predictions range for 2-8 inches in the DC/Baltimore area.
Watch the skies!!!
Who’s stocked up?
I was actually on my way to Eckerd to buy some stuff anyway. Perhaps I’ll add toilet paper, bread, and milk to the list.
Dave told me it never snows here. He lied. I need a new husband.
You know I’ll be crossing my fingers…unfortunatly I think people are getting their hopes up (I heard 1-3 inches in Baltimore on my station, which wouldn’t be enough to cancel school in Balto County).
Though, my Spanish teacher who thinks she’s a meteorologist says there’ll be a big Blizzard on February 8th. Might as well start stocking up now.
I hope it IS snow this time and not ice. We didn’t have electricity for a week in December. grumble…grumble I live in the South damnit, it’s not supposed to snow and get cold.
I’ve already asked for tomorrow off so I don’t have to deal with the mess.
Up the mountain we’ve already totalled 20 inches of snow so far this year. That’s more than the last two or three years combined.
You don’t need a new husband, Ginger. Just tune up his predictive abilities.
Are you kidding? They cancel school in Baltimore County for an inch!
It’s snowing here. It’s 7:30 and we’re getting light flurries.
8PM up the mountain and we’re at 1/2 inch.
Just thought y’all should know.
It’s started to snow here, now. Northern Maryland, 9:00.
9:18 here and it’s been (and still is) snowing.
I have a feeling I’ll post in this thread 10:30 tommorow saying “Yep, well…I was wrong. Oh well.”
Yeah. My mom is from Montreal and tells me how they had school with 28 inches easy. Well, Maryland sucks at snow control (good for kids, bad for people driving 695)
I’ll be going to school until July if it doesn’t stop snowing! Which isn’t really a bad thing, I think. Nor is it a good thing.
Splanky! You’re half Canadian! Yay! Now I knew I liked you for some reason!
