I once complained at a Dopefest that no one ever flamed me in the Pit. The next day, Green Bean opened a thread there to call me a poopy-head. Doesn’t really count does it?
I have been spending a lot of time in GD and The Pit lately. Maybe I’ll get a real flame soon.

Nope, I never check it. Why? Well, I never write inflammatory remarks. That is just not my thing. Thus, I don’t expect a barrage of insults being ejaculated in my direction. And besides, if somebody wants to insult me without being provoked, why should I care? That is their prerogative; I just wouldn’t hold enough respect for people of such low caliber to be affected by whatever crap erupts from their twisted minds. Where was I? Oh yes, I almost never descend to the lowly depths of the Pit. Most dopers are really great, and hence I have never had a problem with any of them in particular that would merit a rampage of insults, which, however fun they might be when expressed in a mutually agreed upon non-serious fashion, are futile in nature when raised in obedience to the feral, passion-guided instinct rather than the always calm and objective voice of reason.

I think that the only time I have ever been mentioned in the pit was as part of the group of relatively young dopers. Well that, and the idiotic thread I started when I was a newbie.
I’ve had one pit thread with my name in the title. You can find that here. Sure, it’s not technically a pit thread because it got moved to MPSIMS, but it did start out in the pit. Anyway, I never search the pit specifically for my name.

As a matter of fact, my contribution occasionally kills off otherwise healthy threads. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this thread die now that I’ve posted to it. I am the Original Invisible Poster.

Double Whammy…it had never occured to me to search on my own name before, but I glommed right onto the idea as soon as you all brought it up. I’m as needy as the next guy.
So I do a search on “Cranky” since that’s what many people shorten my handle to… and up comes the Mistletoe thread! I tear in there thrilled to my toes that someone named ME as a person they’d most like to drag under the mistletoe to play tongue hockey with. I desperately search through 1…2…3…4 pages of posts. And all it turns up is one person talking about feeling cranky. And they didn’t mean feeling ME.
Is there anything more pathetic than such desperation for attention, followed by hope and hubris, followed by crushing reality? LOL
