The title of your thread sure brought back some memories. Back when I worked on a HP minicomputer and our opportunities for goofing off while seeming to be working were limited to text-based games.

With a shout out to Adventure and general references to the Invisible Clue books and assorted box tchotchkes. Did I miss any?
Planetfall and/or Stationfall (the part about a dropship and a mop)
Trinity (the midget in the park)
A Mind Forever Voyaging (the rhyme forever voyaging)
That’s amazing. Their songs are actually quite good, and not just gimmicky. I wanted to like Harry and the Potters, but just didn’t think their songs were any good. This I can get into.
Jophiel and tanstaafl, when you mention Adventure and Trinity, are you talking about the White Wolf tabletop games? Or perhaps adaptations of them?
If so, are you familiar with Aberrant! and Exalted?
I’m not much of a tabletop gamer, but while WW’s “World of Darkness” line is generally put down for attracting a lot of goth and emo types for players and being ridiculously overwrought in general, all of the titles mentioned above are often-cited as exceptional RPG’s, in my experience.
After watching the video, I bought his “Nerdcore Rising” album through my emusic.com account. Off that album I think I like “Which MC Was That?” and “Penny Arcade Theme” the best.
No, we’re talking about Adventure and Trinity. The entire song is nothing but references to “Adventure” type computer games from the '70s and '80s, primarily those released by the company Infocom. Steve Meretzky, the other guy who shows up in the video, was one of their developers.
I knew all of this, but I was wondering at the possibility of a coincidence since two of the titles mentioned also happen to be the titles of tabletop games by the same company. Especially considering Adventure and Trinity (along with Aberrant! inbetween) were part of a single timeline (that progresses from pulp action to a superhero style setting to full-blown space opera themes). I thought there might have been some connection. shrugs
