I was posting in the Quick, what’s your current earworm thread and started wondering who else had a love of geek-related songs. I listen to a lot of nerd-core rappers - The Stupendium, Dan Bull, HalaCG, and FrivolousShara, just to name a few. I’d say at least a quarter of the music I listen to would be from these Nerd Core rappers and singers. Am I the only one?
Here are some of my favorites, just to get things started.
The Nic Cage Cypher by JTMusic, featuring too many other great artists to count
I love cyphers because they introduce me to a lot of others that I hadn’t heard of yet.
Kanto (A Pokémon Parody of Back Home) by Nate Wants to Battle
Nate Wants to Battle is one of the first of the NerdCore that I was introduced and is still one of my favorites. Along with parodies (like this one) he also does covers and some original songs
Slide Into the Void - The Stupendium feat. Cami-Cat
The Stupendium is just… they’re talent personified. Their videos are fantastic, their writing is witty and hits perfectly, and they interact with their fans. This is probably among my top 5 favorites of theirs.
Real Fight - HalaCG, feat. FreeSoul
HalaCG participates in a lot of cyphers but one of my favorites is this one here. The original version was taken down because she used a lot of clips from Avatar: The Last Airbender and got copyright struck. But the song didn’t change. It’s so empowering.
I’m always interested in being introduced to music that hits my geek button heavily. Please share some of your favorites so we can gush over awesome music and geekdom together.
