Thanks. I couldn’t do flowers or stripes or solids. I like geometric designs.
Happy Sunday!
It was a chilly 39 degrees at the park this morning. There was a little snow as we were leaving, just a few flurries. It felt colder today than it did yesterday.
No Barky or Humpy today. I don’t know if she will come back. I texted her and asked if she was going and all she said was no. So, it was quiet today. Echo went out and played with Coco and Lui, something she doesn’t do when Barky and Humpy are there. Several of the other dogs like chasing the laser light with Cerby, so there were a good 4 or 5 of them running after the light. I said everybody should bring one and we could drive them nuts chasing after different lights.
I ordered another one because it only holds the charge for an hour.
I’m a bit annoyed with my nieces. I asked Niece2 what her boys want for Christmas, that was last week and she never answered. Yesterday I ordered a PieCaken to be delivered there and sent both nieces a message so they can watch for it. It comes packed in dry ice and needs to be put in the freezer. I also figured f’it, I’m not playing around so I ordered an assortment of gift cards for everybody, and told them that the gifts are on their way.
Still no answer from either of them.
They could at least acknowledge that they got the message.
Well, they just did, so that is a relief.
It’s been confirmed that Niece1 is getting divorced. I already got her husband a present, which is okay, just need to make sure he gets it. I hope she doesn’t mind if I stay friends with him. We’re not close or anything, but I like him.
Morty, I would visit the vet first. Make sure there is nothing physical going on. If you contact a behaviorist or trainer, that is what they will tell you to do. I don’t know if it applies to other breeds, but Shar Pei are known to have behavior problems due to thyroid issues. I should have thought to ask when I had Cerby at the vet. Panels were run for him but I’m not sure what was included in them.
When I look back, I did so much that is considered ‘wrong’ with my dogs. I never introduced them slowly. Nope, new dog or kitten, brought them in and plopped them on the floor. Told the others, here is your new brother, or sister. If they didn’t like it, well then they’d just have to get over it.
FCM, I think MIL is just going to have to understand that she cannot keep on living as she wishes. One of my ex-bf’s father was violent with his mother, and when a visiting nurse saw it, she reported it and he was put in a nursing home. He was bedridden so he couldn’t hurt his mother unless she was near him, but she was his caregiver and she was covered with bruises. His mother was told she no longer had a say, but I don’t know if that is totally true.
Your MIL may not realize he could really hurt her one day. It’s a sad situation for everybody.
Pretty tree.
AFAIK, your daughter will have to refinance it herself or pay it off. Unless she can get by with just making the payments and never telling the loan company anything. That probably won’t work. Sooner or later the loan company will find out, or when she makes the last payment there will be some trouble with the deed.
OAOASO did that with his father’s truck. He made three payments, but when the finance company found out his father had died, he had to pay it off or they would repossess it.
When I got my mortgage, it was through a privately owned mortgage company. The owner told me about a man whose parents died and left him the house. There was @ $40,000 left on the mortgage and the guy had to pay it off to keep the house. You can’t get a mortgage that small, and the guy couldn’t get a personal loan that big, so the mortgage guy worked out some kind of special deal for him so he could keep the house.
That is why when I refinanced my house, I put my son on the deed and mortgage. When I die, the house is his. Unless he defaults on the payments.
Of course, I could be totally wrong, so probably better to check with a lawyer.
Interesting info Dicey.
Sounds like fun.
Most of what I have to do today deals with papers and schedule.
The load in the washer needs to be put in the dryer, and the plants need watering.
I love all my plants, but I wish there weren’t so many.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got back to da cave, had a leftover N.O.L. and achieved nappage. I have also hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow, as the alleged rain is supposed to start any time now.
MOOOOOOM I hope something can get resolved with the inlaws soon. All three of them seem to need a level of care that is way more than FCD and you need to handle it seems. It’s sad to see this stuff happen.
Taters any plans that can be made for your mother now will be a huge help down the road. I am fortunate that it was not too bad with my folks. Dad was in the horsepistol for almost three months before he died due to some physical problems. We were fortunate to be able to keep mom at home with hospice care.
JtC hope your mom’s trip home is a safe one.
Dicey thanks about all the info on Advent/Christmas in Switzerland. I like hearing about the different customs.
sari yay for no drama at the doggy park today. May there be many more drama free days ahead.
Got the new cable box (about a 50-mile roundtrip). I was told it was ‘plug-and-play’; so I plugged. It doesn’t play. The Xfinity technician said the box is fine and there’s ‘something wrong with the wiring’. So we’re expecting a visit around 08:00 or 09:00 tomorrow.
By the way, Xfinity phone techs talk entirely too much.
Mooooom, your accountant should be able to advise you about leaving your house to your daughter. I hope that you can get some resolution with the in-laws soon.
I liked the info on the Swiss holiday traditions dicey.
Sunday chores are done, supper made and et (cornbread and sausage stuffed acorn squash with a side of fried cabbage for those keeping score). Now for more messing around in the studio.
I think this is the 2nd week in a row that you’ve inadvertently reminded me to do the same.
Thank you for your service!
Twas snowing this morning, so I prudently decided to not go to the shop. Advertised accumulation of 4-6 inches. Instead I slothed.
They lied. Only about 2. But still a successful sloth day.
That two inches would have guaranteed me a couple of days off irk.
I’m wrapping Christmas gifts. I realized I forgot to actually place the order for Dogkin’s Christmas gift (a plush duck toy that has no stuffing, kind of a dead duck), so I did that. A friend I wasn’t sure was buying me a gift and that I got a generic just-in-case gift for said yesterday she has something for me and mentioned that she won’t buy generic gifts. Luckily I remembered a gift I never gave to anyone that I think is less generic.
No calls yet from kids, but my nephew called.
FCM, IIRC, there’s some law that allows you to designate an heir who’ll take over the mortgage without going through the approval process. I think you fill out some forms, but that’s all I know, so maybe not much help. Re: in-laws, I hope MIL comes to her senses without something really bad happening. I’m sure that possibility must weigh heavily on you and FCD.
Sari, I’m glad you and the pups got a day without Barky/Humpy. I hope it continues.
morty, if nothing else, the new habit of peeing/pooping in the house should be taken up with the vet. I have no clue on the aggression toward you. If only dogs could tell us what’s going on.
Taters, do you have Power of Attorney set up for your mom? If not, that should be done pronto.
Every time I think of this, I start giggling again.
Good choice on Dogkin’s gift. The toy may be like a lot of Nelson’s: a plush covered squeaky. The squeaky is the body and verrrrrrrry durable, He loves them.
shoe you are welcome. I am happy to ensure that you do not have excessive stinky trash.
VanGo here’s to slothful days. May you have many more.
Evening all. My trip to Krispy Kreme was my only venture outside today, so sloth ruled at Casa Hutch. Did exercise my brain a little with various Sudoku’s. Jumbles and the Sunday Crossword puzzle, but that was the extent of exercising. To atone (slightly), I ate a bowl of Salad for dinner. Will also run a hot bath tonight and take a good soak.
Laundry will be coming due sometime next week, depends if I run out of socks or underwear first.
Flyboy, good luck on the cable repair; they ought to give you a discount on your bill for all the trouble (they probably won’t).
OK, salad is consumed and more tackleball is on the telly, so everybody have a good night and I’ll catch y’all on the next MMP.
Slothful days are becoming a habit for me. Only I have too much to do to engage in sloth.
I got everything in my list done today except confirming my PT appt for tomorrow. I have tried several times but it won’t let me. I also needed to fill out the paperirk for my son to take some of the money out of the IRA account. I want him to do it with me and he slept all day. Just as well to do it tomorrow in case we have any questions.
I’ve got our trash together, ready to go out. Taking it out is my son’s job.
JtC, can your mother move closer to you?
I was so lucky to have Niece2 living with my mother. That took a lot of worry off me.
My father died at home from a heart attack, so no lingering there.
Both nieces are looking forward to seeing us at Christmas.
The debate is taking Cerby. He has never been left alone here and I’m not comfortable leaving him all day by himself. I could board him for the day.
Niece2 is excited to have him come and to get to see him.
Niece1 thinks it might be too much for him. She is afraid he will get too excited and bite somebody. I’m more afraid of how he will act when we leave. Will he be okay going home with us or will he want to stay there?
I’m kind of hoping for a blizzard.
Pulley, I hope all your physical ails clear up soon.
There are a lot of rude dog owners out there. That is why we go to the park early, most of the assholes are still in bed.
Tell your daughter,
no man is worth crying over, because the ones who are worth it won’t make you cry.
Which reminds me, tomorrow is the anniversary of my son’s father’s death, 17 years.
I also need to have a talk with OAOASO, who is behind on his portion of the phone bill.
It’s on the list, but I keep putting it off.
Morty, I forgot to say.
One, i know several dogs named Remy, and all of them are weird. Not as bad as dogs named Angel, but almost.
Two, I think shock collars are not so bad. I figure it’s no worse than an electric fence, which I had at one time because a certain dog I had would do anything to get out of the yard. I had an electric wire around the top to keep him from climbing, and one around the bottom to keep him from digging.
On night I came home after having a few drinks and grabbed ahold of the wire while I was trying to unlock the gate. I was standing in a puddle of water. Took me a minute to figure out why my whole body was tingling.
Karma points for those who are walking neighbor’s dogs.
Maybe Nelson would like a little sister.
I should make myself something to eat. I haven’t eaten anything but two protein bars since breakfast.
No wonder my stomach hurts.
Ventured out for pot roast fixins, because
- I developed a gnawin’ & cravin’
- tomorrow’s a Blessed Day Off and I can finally take time to cook
- imma be trapped at home tomorrow waiting for a signature-required delivery anyway
Pot roast requires carrots, so those were obtained.
… I just tossed a few into the yard, and heard the leaves scuttling - methinks Bun-bun was already out there. Hope (s)he finds the goodies soonest!
Thirty simoleons.
Neat.
So the complex was without cable/Interwebs for a couple of hours During handegg. But I had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, and I got Bo seasoned poke loin and sweet **N.O.T.**s in the oven, so it makes up for it.
Heck, 2 flakes will shut things down for the day around here.
Unless you deploy The Holy Hand Grenade Of Antioch.
sari glad you had a drama free dogpark day.
FCD has taken the initiative since he has their POA. He’ll do what he thinks is best for them. Oh, and the neuro appt is in Jan. Dammit. But I just suggested he try the VA clinic, so maybe we’ll get lucky.
Closing in on bedtime with Nyquil. I need a good sleep.
Howdy all. Always lurking so I am caught up.
I never mentioned but I lost my sense of smell about 4-5 months ago. I was not sick. I guess I could have been asymptomatic as I am 4 times jabbed. I really hope it comes back eventually. Better smell than taste methinks. Still weird not being able to smell anything. I even got some Vicks inhalers and can’t smell that. Here’s hoping the Chats recover without lingering problems.
I have watched football all day and still watching. Good games today.
My Sonny boy and his girl, I’ll call her Sherry cause that’s her name, bought me a shed for Christmas. It’s by the tree, no secret. I have been gradually getting presents wrapped. I cheated as I purchased some shirt boxes and the box tops are printed so no need to wrap. I do have some things that won’t fit into the boxes so wrapping I must. I used to enjoy wrapping but now-meh.
My Keys friend sent me the most beautiful wreath made from live succulents. It’s gorgeous. I am done shopping. I only bought for the kids and pets. Merry Christmas everyone else. I’ll make some phone calls on the day.
Countdown to cruise. I will be forced to finally unpack my clothes so that’s a plus. This week I plan to do that, open a new account with the local credit union. They have a 13 month CD with 4.75% interest. I also either need to find a new primary care MD or do a Teladoc appointment as I need refills on a couple meds.
It’s supposed to get into the 40’s by the weekend. Brrrr.
My gift to myself arrived today. It’s a mattress in a box. I hope it’s a good one as it wasn’t cheap. Plan is to try to get it unboxed tomorrow. It weighs 116 lbs. It has a 120 night return policy.
I have read all. Hugs to all. Stay healthy everyone.
Meant to tell FCM that here one can basically add a beneficiary for the house so I plan to do that for Sonny Boy. It’s with the county and what I read is once I die he needs to present a death certificate and the deed will be changed. My house is paid for so I don’t know how it would work with a mortgage.
