I’m a woman, I’ve been having a period for approximately 17 years. (I got one year off for bad behavior, pregnancy/breastfeeding).
I have never used PMS or hormones to excuse me being a bitch and I despise women who do. Control your shit. It happens to you once a fucking month, you should be able to control yourself by now, if you can’t, stop making men tremble in fear when dealing with a woman in case she might pull out the “I’m PMS’ing” card. I hate when men feel comfortable attributing me correcting their bad behavior to me possibly PMS’ing, no, it is because you shouldn’t be allowed in public.
CONTROL YOUR SHIT LADIES.
If it was reversed, blah, blah, blah, it isn’t reversed, it isn’t a surprise, it rarely sneaks up on you and you should fucking develop coping mechanisms so the rest of the world doesn’t have to.
Yeah, I’ve had some recent issues with a woman who is blaming her hormones on her excruciatingly bad behavior.
My wife does this, and it makes me crazy sometimes. I’ve learned to recognize the signs of PMS, and I refuse to take any bullshit because of it. I’m sorry she has tender breasts, mood swings, etc. I hate it for her, and as long as she wants love, comfort, and sympathy from me, that’s fine. But the second she directs her feelings AT me, as if I were the cause of her problems and she’s spoiling for a fight, I cut it off immediately.
How do you know the person isn’t suffering from PMS? I do think it’s wrong to use PMS as an excuse to be a bitch. If it really is PMS, see a doctor.
I hate when I’m mad about something legitimate and someone makes a PMS crack.
No, I’m not on the rag, thank you. I’m just mad because your a jerk.

Gotta agree with that. Or maybe they just don’t like you.
Not to derail a good arguement, but I have a similar feeling about folks who say “Oh, I’ve got *such * a migraine!” and then go about their day like they have nothing but a headache - which is all they really have in the first place. It totally devalues the truth when someone actually DOES have a migraine.
I’m as sympathetic about it as any man can be. But there comes a time when you know someone is manipulating things, just as I know there are women who are in pain but don’t take it out on anyone else. I’m pitting the former.
I don’t really suffer PMS, but before I strated taking BC pills, my period was wildly irregular. The number one clue it was about to descend was if I got really angry for no reason, and then really weepy. So, there are some hormonal changes.
Turek - there are times when I have one where I’m somewhat functional thanks to pain medication - so don’t necessarily think that unless someone is in a dark room moaning in pain that they don’t have a migraine. I may be able to cope but don’t for a minute think that I “only have a headache”.
Migraines are migraines and headaches are headaches. I have no problem with people who have mild to moderate migraines (which I’ve had - auras and such *without * my head feeling like it would split) saying they have migraines. But someone who has a “migraine” every time they’ve had a rough day and their head hurts… that bugs me.
I’ll gladly control my shit if people will respect my boundaries when I set them. There is roughly a 3-5 day period once every few months when if I say, “Please leave me alone, I’m not feeling well,” I fucking mean it with all of my heart and soul.
It’s probably me being obtuse, but I don’t understand the question. I know the person is suffering from PMS because she says “I have PMS.” Now, maybe she is lying or mistaken, but for the purposes of getting through the day, if someone says she is suffering from PMS, I’ll take it at face value.
Sorry, but you are still needed here on earth for an enterprise we call “human interaction.” I need you to control your rage when I have to ask you something and answer me like a rational person. And quit fucking yelling at me.
Zactly. Anyone who has had both will never refer to their headache as a migrane. A headache is a paper cut. A migrane is losing your limb by sawing it off with a steak knife.
Regarding the Midol issue – Isn’t Midol actually just aspirin and caffeine? Or something similar?
IIRC, NSAIDs like Advil or Aleve work much better not only for PMS and cramps, but for any muscle aches. I’ve known persons of the female persuasion who were directed by their doctors to start taking largeish dosed of ibuprofen a day or so before they were due to menstruate.
Men get fluctuating moods, too, they just don’t admit it, or recognize that it could be a hormonal issue. My daughters and I have been known to remark to one another, “Dad’s got PMS today.” And we giggle.
