I’m worried i’m missing out on a joke - why would this be forgotten/what difference does it make?
Because some people around here sure did lose sight of that fact concerning President Bush. Now, I’m not going to point fingers. I’m just going to try not to do that.
And a middle name like Hussein? Don’t forget that!
I would’ve said it was that Bush was/is President that led to complaints about him.
Your guy has shown himself to be smart, skillful, well-organized and effective. The way he has run both his primary campaign and his campaign against McCain has made me much less concerned over his ability to perform in office.
And at least I’m not faced with the prospect of Hillary in office for at least four more years, and that counts for quite a lot.
So again, congratulations.
:dubious:
So, where exactly is the debate in this thread, if you don’t mind my asking?
I mean, if you just want to gush and gloat and strut, don’t do that thing here!
Instead, go to this thread.
I don’t really feel any emotion either way. Meh.
Valete,
Vox Imperatoris
Oh shit. Yeah.
Awestruck.
Now THAT’s a fucking leader. Someone you’d get behind
Just got done watching President-elect Obama’s speech. What a great speech and a wonderful and historic moment! :p:D:cool:
I got a bit teary-eyed, don’t tell anyone.
Congratulations!
Thanks, FriarTed, for exactly the sentiment we as a country need. Now there’s a lot of work to get done with the economy and international-relations-wise–and I hope enough Obama supporters are as classy as you just were that you and others in your shoes join in and together we forge a path back to the America that everyone respects and loves together.
Both my mom and dad called me tonight. Mom, i expected as a democrat this year (previous Republican supporters). Dad, though…even Dad voted Obama. And both are thrilled. I’m at a loss for words right now. It’s…it’s…just amazing.
We promise not to forget the other side, FT.
And not only because we didn’t get that 60th Senate seat
Thanks
Had McCain won, I wouldn’t have been devastated. I still think he’s a decent guy. Shitty campaign, though.
Thanks, man – and do please keep an eye out in case our guy makes a questionable move, as humans will. I’d have done the same for yours.
Congratulations from Canada!
Thanks!
I thought McCain’s concession speech was very, very gracious, and extremely supportive of his former opponent.
Did you see Obama’s victory speech? Do his statements about wanting to be the President of all Americans, even the ones “whose support I have not yet earned” do anything for you?
I cried in the car on the way home listening to Obama’s speech.
Thank you, FriarTed. Your grace means a great deal to me, as do McCain’s words. I would not have been heartbroken if he won – I believe he’s a good man and could have done a great job as President. I voted for my guy because I figure he could do better, but I have a great deal of affection and respect for McCain.
Thank you, Mr. Moto, for you grace in this thread as well. And thank you, Scylla, and thank you Bricker, for the same. I haven’t gone hunting for any nasty words from you, but I do not expect to see any.
Evil Captor, I’m going to Hell right along with you, because that was horribly disgustingly offensively funny.
I hope that we can all be gentlemanly and ladylike about this, and I suspect we can resist the desire to go NEENER NEENER NEENER or HE STILL SUCKS at our opponents. We will rely on you guys to keep us honest and remind us that we have elected a politician, after all, and one who may not be able to keep all his promises. For my part, I will try to remember that a bad idea from Obama is still a bad idea and a good idea from McCain is no less good for that.
I am blissfully happy right now and full of hope. I want this win to energize the country, conservative and liberal alike. I want us to become the country I thought we were when I was a little girl, the country I believe we still are in our hearts. I want everyone else to see how incredibly great we can be.
Stay classy, Starving Artist. Your congratulations mean a lot.
