Alas, S/he also implied that wishing karma on those dickweeds was correlated with being too weak, cowardly, and shy to give them the ass-kicking they so richly deserved. That’s what got my ire up.
In my perfect world, behavior like that reaps its own reward at some point, whether or not they suffer for it immediately after each incidence. It may be “karma,” or it might be something like calling a guy a spic when you see him in the bathroom, only to learn he’s the fly half for the area rugby team who are all out at the bar. Either way, I’m happy.

I’ve been called a cracker by a group of blacks before. I have been told by a black kid amongst his friends to “give me a dollar”, when I told him I wouldn’t he responded, “I just wanted to see what you would say.” I have also experienced a group of blacks walking down the street screaming how they were going to kill a white motherfucker.
I did nothing in any way to provoke any of these aforementioned incidents.
Those guys were dickless asswipes, Topaz. I am in total agreement. The only reason I mentioned the experiences I did was to make clear that ignorance and bigotry isn’t just confined to people who happen to have white skin.
Perhaps many of you will feel that this didn’t need to be said. But I do tend to think many people feel that racism is primarily a white thing.
Jjim, I’m glad that broad got called out on her ignorance. However, I don’t see how the white customers needed to apologize for her behavior. That bitch didn’t become a representative of whites when she spouted off her hatefilled rhetoric. But maybe they were just words of condolences like: “I’m sorry you had to experience that”, and not real apologies. The only one who needed to apologize for that was the lady in question.

I’m sure Topaz is as confident, brave and strong as the next person. But what good are confidence, bravery and strength when you’re standing at a bus stop and your antagonists are in a moving car?
And furthermore, even if someone is shy, or lacking in bravery or physical strength, that still doesn’t mean that they deserve to be treated like shit. Topaz didn’t create the situation.

Well, I still owe this thread an apology-- I realize that in saying “The Universe will take care of these guys” it can make it sound like I think karmic justice makes up for the actual experience of being called a racial epithet. I don’t mean to trivialize the offense at all. I should have been clearer on that.

Well, unfortunately, there are plenty of trashy women who will be willing to go along with this, or at least tolerate it. Intelligence and caring are not automatically given to either gender.
I’ve worked for over a year with people in Bakersfield, CA, and let me tell you, these jokers could be from a certain part of that town. Unfortunately, lightning does not strike their trucks or burn up the dried weeds that pass for a lawn in their yards. They do manage to keep jobs, often, because your social sensibilities aren’t much of a hiring matter when you’re welding oil pipeline, fixing motors, driving trucks, etc. Being in unions, many of them make decent money.
But the ones with these attitudes are the dregs, no matter what they do, or how much money they make.
