You haven’t changed a bit – a post-reunion MMP

I got it, and it’s on the hockey wall, next to the Rod Brind’Amour puck. Hey, at least you’re not a Buffalo fan. Then you would be SlugsCatLady.

I meant to mention to rigs (or was it rebo who needed teen anthems?)
I’ve always thought Mott The Hoople’s All The Young Dudes, altho about 20 or more years old, is a great song.

I had a nice l’il cat nap, (I’m sooooo funny when I am drugged!) got up and soaked my arm and cleaned it with the antibacterial soap, applied more bacitracin and popped another couple of tramadol. Before I pass out again I wanted to check in and say that the wound is already looking better. Still weepy, but not as copiously and the discharge is clear again. It still itches and throbs like a, well, I’ll be a lady and refrain from the epithet I want to use! The tramadol kicked in quickly after the first dose, so I am hopeful that it will do so again!

I’m glad you approve of the wound doggy! No, really, when I have a genuine owie it’s nice to have it validated!

I’m glad to hear that you received your treatment rosieposie and still felt well enough to participate in the festivities. I surely hope and pray that this helps you feel better and keeps you feeling better.

My darlin’ SnakesCatLady I appreciate the advice. Stubborn me wasn’t about to let a mere kitty scratches, and even though y’all think skiffman is hunky, he is not supportive in the least when it comes to my health. Apparently he believes me to be immortal. (Oh, but the wailing and knashing of teeth when he gets the sniffles or a hangnail  …good Lord!) I would like to think that if my week hadn’t been so emotional I would have tended to myself better, but the truth is, I probably wouldn’t. I need someone like you to kick me in the butt and hie me to the doctor, want the job? And no, I don’t want Magic, apparently I can barely manage to wrangle the four cats I already have! Thanks for the offer though, lol!

Kai, my love - you are one of the MMPers I would love to meet the most! (and have the least chance…) I am not diabetic - but I am allergic to cats. Yes, I have 9 of them - I’m fine as long as they don’t break my skin.

Cat bite is worse than puppy bite. Do I have to fly (which I hate) to where it’s COLD (I don’t do cold) to brave the forbidden wastes to take care of you? And provide a alibi for whoever kills/stuffsintoacrabpot/feedtohungrynicewolves/?

Yeesh, kai , that doesn’t look pleasant at all.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better, FCM.

You know, Swampy, I got my current job in a very strange way. Apparently, my resumix was in the system but I didn’t know it was in for my current job. I hadn’t even seen my current job announced. At any rate, I got a call from one of my former bosses, who asked if I was interested. The funny thing was, I had worked for him some years ago, and to my mind, we hadn’t really hit it off then. I was much more vocal back then and let people know when I was unhappy about something, or if I thought something was bullshit. Sometimes, I wasn’t exactly polite about it. Trust me, I’ve grown since then.

At any rate, I told him I was very interested (it was a two grade promotion, after all!). He told me he’d call me in a week or so. So, he called back, basically interviewed me on the phone, and told me about the job. I honestly told him what my skill sets were and told him that I wasn’t sure he’d still want me. He told me right then and there, that the reason he was interested in me was that I was a fast learner, I didn’t put up with crap, he could count on me to honestly state my opinion, and he had no doubts as to my abilities to do well in the job. About 10 minutes later, I had the official offer from the local CPAC, and I immediately said yes.

So, although I kvetch about this job, I’ve honestly liked this one much better than all the jobs I’ve had in my civil service career. I get highly frustrated at times (who doesn’t?), but I’m not micromanaged, I’m treated like an adult, and most importantly, I’m treated with respect, courtesy, and like I really am valuable to the command. There are bad days and once in a great while some minor sniping might occur, but for the most part, it’s okay. It’s seems as though it’s been a long stretch of bad days, here lately, but hopefully, things will improve soon. The workload is just tremendous right now, and I’m hard on myself. I fret if I don’t make the progress I feel I should, and I want to turn out accurate work. I am a bit of a perfectionist in this regard. So, although I won’t hold up a project to nit-noid stuff because of time constraints (when an eighty percent solution will do), I push myself to make sure it’s right the first time. If I can’t turn out what I perceive to be my best work, I make sure that it’s perfect the next time.

I’d like to learn more and feel more comfortable with some of the programs I use, but it’ll come in time.

So, in my very long-winded way, I guess I’m trying to say, that sometimes jobs obtained in slightly weird ways, can often be a very good thing.

gt, I’m sorry to read about your friends. I hope they can find some good news amongst the bad. I’ll keep you and them in my thoughts. The cancer thing must definitely sucks.

Tomorrow we’re going to a Wigs and Wine party. Sounds strange, doesn’t it. It’s a surprise party for a friend. We’re supposed to show up with zany wigs, bottles of wine, and celebrate his birthday. We bought some huge, giant Afro type wigs. I wanted a Marge Simpson wig, but couldn’t find one. I bought some big glittery sunglasses to wear with my wig too. I’m sure we’ll look absolutely ridiculous.

What’s worse is that we’ll have to drive about 25 miles wearing these things. I’m hoping that it’ll be dark when we leave so we don’t get strange stares from other drivers. The party is south of us, in Olympia.

I guess I 'll go veg in front of the idjit box for awhile.

rosie, before anyone gets to doing that garden-variety plain-vanilla no-excitement-left-in-the-marriage “in bed” snerking on those fortunes you so kindly brought us, I figured I’d kick it up a notch or two. My additions are in blue.

**You are contemplating some action which will bring credit upon you, so don’t forget to have a towel handy to wipe it off.

You are strong and brave. Use these qualities to pull through, but not out.

You will be pleasantly surprised soon, and call out the wrong name afterwards.

You are more likely to give than to given in, and you are more likely to put out than to be put in.

Think highly of yourself, for the world takes you at your own estimate, but 9" is really stretching it.

You can’t steal second base and keep one foot on first, unless she really is into that sort of thing.

When you don’t care who gets the credit, there is no limit to how high you can climb, but if you fall off the bed it’ll ruin the moment.**

Now the snerking may commence.

Spats some things just can’t be improved upon, even with a <snerk>In Bed! <snerk>

Rosie I’m glad the treatment went well. kai watch out for evil cats. I know, evil and cats is redundant, still…

Snakes yeah, it would have been truly awful to have misread your name as AntScatLady. :stuck_out_tongue:

All you sickies, feelin’ better today?

I’m up and caffienated. I think I’ll go make some breakfast and rouse a certain somebody. The smell of frying (fully clothed!) burly butcher bacon usually does that quite well. I’m thinkin’ bacon, eggs, grits and biscuits will make a mighty fine breakfast. That’s cheese grits of course. MMMMMMMM…

Happy Satuday everybody!

That’s my favorite

swampy - as a jen-you-wine southern boy, you must tell us. Exactly how many syllables are there in “grits”?

Off to work for a few hours. See you this afternoon.

Well, there’s gri-yuts, gri-uts and gr-eee-its depending on what part of the south you are from. For me they’re [del]food of the Gods[/del] gri-uts

Yawn.

Hey everyone. Late night, and it wasn’t supposed to be, Wife and I promised each other we’d make it early. I had a dinner to go to - the enrichment foundation I’m on the board of was up for an award by the local Chamber of Commerce. Ahem, an award which we won…

Community Service Organization of the Year, it’s nice hunk o’lucite anyways.

We’re supposed to be gettin some big winter storm tonight, so my night out wit da boys might be in jeopardy. We’re going to meet someplace about a 40 minute drive from here, and I’m not sure I wanna be driving home in all that.

Right now it’s corn flakes and coffee time, then a trip to the gym, then library, shopping for food (mah cupboard is bare…) then maybe some work here.

What’s for dinner?

Good morning. My back is sore again, and the cat tried to kill me with the hand grenade last night, again. Maggie has had her walk, and is taking her morning nap.

swampy, I have been is the South for 25 years and haven’t tried grits. Well, there was one time the cafeteria at school had “grits” with the “pork” patties(which looked and tasted just like the “chicken” nuggets).

Spats, those are a thing of beauty.

Somebody needs to wake up Haze and ask her if she’s hungover.

Mornin’, all. I woke up with a stiff neck and a sinus headache, neither of which I can do much about. Fortunately, I got my neck loosened up with stretching, and after some clearing out managed to get my nose swabbed with goop again (I use a Q-tip, though – yuck! on doing it with my finger!), and am feeling semi-caffeinated and semi-human. Not semi-human enough to actually do much of anything, but it’s a start.

Wow, kai, those are some nasty pictures! It’s a darned good thing you went to the doctor – next time don’t wait so long! Clearly you and cat claws do not get along well.

Most excellent work, Spats, you sickie, you!

Do you make real gri-uts, Swampy, i.e. none of this quick cooking or (blech!) instant type? Because like oatmeal, grits must be the original slow-cooking variety to be worthy of my refined taste buds.

There is only one kind of gri-uts and that’s the slow cookin’ kind. Everything else is an abomination. Besides it don’t take that long to cook gri-uts. Doggio what you need is cheese gri-uts with plenty of butter, salt and pepper. Gri-uts by themselves are well, bland and tasteless. It’s the cheese, butter, salt and pepper that give the flavor. Kinda like escargot, if you’re into that. Escargot is a conduit for butter and garlic cause that’s the taste. Same with gri-uts, the gri-uts are a conduit for butter, cheese, salt and pepper. Plus, it’s corn so it’s good for you. Gri-uts that is. Escargot is snails and as far as I know snails do not eat corn.

Ok, I’ve got N.O.T. cut for fries, onions and maters sliced, some good sharp cheddar cheese all sliced and burgers gettin’ up to room temp. Shortly I will light the grill and grill up some burgers. Since we did not do breakfast (decided against it) Ima fry up some burly butcher bacon for bacon cheese burgers. MMMMMM… that oughta tide us over til dinner, which, as I mentioned yesterday, is a dinner party tonight at two friend’s house. Actually I think dinner will be skettis, so it ain’t fancy. Still the company manners will apply which means using a napkin and saying excuse me after a belch. Gotta trot out the ol’ couth every once in a while after all.

I survived! In fact, I’ve been up and out, breakfasted, took the trash/recycling to the convenience center, and started a load of laundry. I’ve declared today to be a clay day. I’m going to change into clay grubbies and head down to my studio to throw stuff all day.

My throat is still sore and my nose is still snurffly, but my tummy seems to have settled down. I had a pretty good night, except for waking around 2, coughing like crazy. But I slurped down the last of the generic nyquil and crashed again till about 7. While we were out and about this morning, I got another bottle of generic nyquil stuff, so I’m good to go for tonight.

Today’s a pretty, if cold, day, and tomorrow, we’re supposed to get rain and maybe sleet all day. If I feel motivated tomorrow, I’ll get to painting. I just don’t feel like messing with it today.

So, time to get grubby…

Hey Sickies - how are you feeling today? Better, I hope!

Kai, those are some nasty looking scratches you have there. You were right to get them looked at properly, you and the cat’s claws obviously don’t agree. I have a fine set of scratches and toothmarks after play-fighting with Shadow this morning, he’s got some serious claws on him and he’s not afraid to use them.

Thanks for the links and stuff about the hushpuppies, I feel far less ignorant today!

So it’s Saturday, I had a late start this morning then had to clean the bath because Shadow decided to wee in there, and a bit later he decided to poo on the bathroom floor. He’s obviously got the idea of what the bathroom’s for, just not realised where he ought to be doing those things.

After that, we went into town for a wander around. I bought some fancy new boots for work - black leather ones with lots of zips, studs, buckles and stuff…enough to show those pesky students that I’m not to be messed with.

I also took 'im indoors to the ticket shop to buy tickets for a couple of bands - we’re off to see GWAR and at the opposite end of the scale, we’re also going to see Spiritualised on their acoustic tour. I would have liked to go and see GWAR at their Rock City date in Nottingham because that’s one of my favourite venues and has a fantastic rock disco every Friday and Saturday night. Oh, memories of my mis-spent youth! Sadly we can’t do that night because we already have an invite to a double engagement party. Still, can’t beat going to see a good band on your own doorstep. Now, when are Rammstein likely to play here?

I’m also sneaking off to buy some tickets for The Mission as a surprise for 'im indoors because they’re playing in Wolves on his birthday and it’s a Friday - added bonus because that means when the band’s finished, we can go up the road for a few late beerverages at the Posada.

I’ve just had a nice soaky bath, there’s another one running for 'im and then when I’ve decided what to wear, we’re off into Brummyjam to meet up with friends for the night. Some of them have been on a jazz cruise this afternoon, some are going for early drinks and a visit to the Chinese BBQ, and those of us that prefer to drink real beerverages will be meeting at The Wellington - I think tomorrow might involve a bit of a sore head after that lot!

Happy Saturdays, everyone!

I’m actually at the library as we speak, muahaha. I had a breakfast date with some friends, so despite the fact I had an infinite amount of Woodchuck cider last night and crawled into bed at 2:30am, I was up at 9 today - go me.

I have done no work these past few days, so today I’m going to at least go through the motions. cue Buffy song: going through the motions ~~

Burp Excuse me. See, I’m practicin’ for tonight. Those were some dang good burgers if’n I do say so myself. I also remembered a bag of frozen jalapeno poppers in the freezer so I deep fried some of those for “appetizers”. I am way full and so is somebody else. I foresee nap time in the near future. Well, nap time and ummm… possibly other stuff…

Glad you’re feelin’ better FCM. If you’re up to clay throwin’ then you have recuped pretty good.

So, y’all, BooFae is goin’ for a night on the town. That means that tomorrow, we shouldn’t YELL, ok?

:: takes a bow :: Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week. Speaking of which, do we have someone doing the next MMP?

I just went to the chocolate shop in town and bought oodles of choc. Six Lindt bars (three dark, three milk) and this one other brand I can’t remember that has hazelnuts in it. Eighteen bucks. I’m stoked - this should hold me for about a week.

FCM, it’s better to throw clay than to throw up your breakfast. Yay for feeling better!

Haze, good work. It’s always nice to hear that someone is out there going through the motions. I’ll be going through my own motions today with the next quantum mechanics assignment. Later days, everyone.

Smokey is lounging on my sternum right now, purring, nuzzling, and shedding all over me and the keyboard.

I crammed a lot of work into my four hours, so that will make Monday a little less stressful. I’m gonna have leftovers from last night yummy dinner for tonight’s dinner. Then Hagaan Dasz Rum Raisin for dessert. But first a nap, cuz I’m tahrd.

Awwwwwwww!

I am currently curled up in front of a library computer, using my coat as a blanket and reading articles for class next week. I hate reading from a computer screen but the printer network was down all morning. Almost time for lunch. I think I need more coffee.
