You haven’t changed a bit – a post-reunion MMP

Drat. I can’t find a pic of the can online. It’s great. It’s red, with this hugely enthusiastic-looking cartoon kid on the front. It’s made by Want Want Foods, based in Shanghai.

I do believe you meant to “make the batter better.”

Been to an Asian grocery again, LiLi? You always find the most interesting items.

I had apple pancakes for lunch. Found that the Joy of Cooking recipe actually needs about 1 1/2 cups of milk; I haven’t made it in quite a while. (I’ve been lazy and made Bisquick pancakes or else used a buttermilk recipe that I really like).

I’ve done more laundry and remembered to change the credit card number on the automatic payments that are charged to my VISA (they just reissued my card).

Off to - you guessed it - do more laundry. I need to take some stuff back to the library. Maybe I’ll wander out and do that too.

Yep, it’s an action-packed Tuesday chez GT.

Well, seeing as I live in The Land of the Pukie Tummies, I don’t see any interesting foods in the Cherry household for Mardi Gras dinner tonight. Too bad – I love to make Cajun foods for my Louisiana-native husband. The boy can put away the okra.

Re: Pancakes – Buttermilk. Buy buttermilk and put it in the batter. Also for waffles, biscuits and corn bread. You can’t beat buttermilk. No sir.
Sorry to hear about the pets! It’s always sad to lose a furry friend.

I’m all trained on an automatic defibullator! We have them now at work, and they offered CPR training, and training on the use of these things. As a former EMT – who was trained 20 years ago – the new CPR is disconcerting, but the changes are certainly understandable. But anyways, I feel all Life Savey today.

Nava – blood oranges come from Spain, right? I love Clementine oranges this time of year, and it says on the box they come from Spain as well. I have left off eating any other oranges since they were introduced here several years ago (or, whenever I first noticed them). They are DELISH.

Update: the drink tastes like watered-down condensed milk. Very interesting. Not bad, but not something that I’d volunteer to drink a lot. It would be good with some coffee in it.

Sounds like you need to tie some phone wire to a cat and have it walk across the crawlspace.

Why does it seem like all California crawlspaces are really nothing more than slitherspaces? The crawlspace under my mother’s house in Illinois? I can nearly kneel and be more or less upright with my head between the floor joists, and if it wasn’t for the annual tendency to flood, it would be very usable as accessible storage space. The house I had in Sacramento was difficult to access, but it was possible as long as you didn’t mind wriggling yourself in a 90-degree bend to traverse between the access hatch in the deck and the access hatch in the foundation wall. Also, don’t mess with the body-sized lump in the middle of the space. We never did figure out if that was a stray from the cemetery on the other side of the backyard fence.

Under my house here? There’s about eight inches between the bottom of the joists and the dirt. And this is a house built in the last 20 years, but they couldn’t be bothered to run a stupid phone line to the living room or family room. I had to blast holes in the stucco and run some PVC conduit to carry a line from the garage to the family room, but to do the same thing for the living room would mean circumnavigating the house with pipe. Bleah.

I basically skimmed, and saw a lot of talk of pancakes. Now I want some, too. Maybe I’ll buy some “pour out just what you want” frozen mix stuff. I know it’s severely inferior to homemade, but I don’t have the time or inclination to drag out bowls and whisks, and I don’t own a griddle

Appropriate noises all around. I’ll check in when I get home.

Jahdra, you might look into what we have – since we have very limited phone jacks in our house, we got a system that has a base unit that we plug into a phone jack at the back of the house in the dining room, with a cordless phone that sits in the base unit, and then there’s a remote handset with its own base unit that has to plug into a power plug but not a phone jack; it gets its phone signal from the base unit in the back of the house. And we can always add more remote handsets, which we need to do for Palebunny’s room since there’s no phone jack in there, either. Plus the phones share a phone book, so I can put all kinds of speed dial numbers in and only have to do it once.

We got our system (Motorola) at Sam’s for about $75, as I recall. It’s worked out so well for us, we’re going to get a similar system for my mom, who doesn’t have a phone jack in her living room and always uses the cheapest cordless phone money can buy so understanding her is a nightmare.

Thanks for all the thoughts. Poor Nikita may not make it until tonight. She didn’t look good when I left for work this morning, and when I went home at lunch, she was barely hanging on. I feel so bad. I wish I could do something - anything - for her. But the vet didn’t have an appt any earlier than 9:45 this a.m. and KeithT couldn’t take time off from work to take her in during the day. :frowning: We probably should have done it sooner, but she didn’t seem bad on Sunday night. She was stealing chicken from us from our gumbo! [Sidenote: good gumbo! And I’m having pancakes at my Methodist church here tonight.] So I guess we did what we could. She just went so fast from stealing our food to not being able to move at all. It just makes me feel bad to know she’s in pain at this point. :frowning: :frowning:

Anyway, in unrelated news, we had to do an online security course today for work. What a joke. One of the quizzes included this question: Your boss sends you an email with the subject line “I love you.” Do you open it?

Um… no! I keep it, call my lawyer and sue for sexual harassment!

Taxi, sorry about the kitty. Hugs to you and KeithT.

I’m feeling really bitchy right now. Had my GYN appointment today, and they refuse to put me back on the Depo shot. I’m getting too old for it, they say - it has been linked to osteoporsis (sp?). I am hacked. I have to see another doctor to see if I am starting menopause early. That is just going to have to wait until I get my hockey playoff tickets. I do have my priorities in order.

Why am I doing laundry again?

Taxi again I’m so sorry. Just don’t know what else to say.

Pancakes and sausages make a fine supper. Really. Num! ‘Cept we’re both sittin’ around goin’ “I’m so full!” They really fill ya up.

So, tomorrow commences Lent and a smokeless swampy. Should make for some innerestin’ times over the next few days, weeks, months, decades…

OOH! New printer came with this cd called Scrapbook Factory Standard. BWAAAHAAAHAAAHAAA!!! ACBG and I have been snickerin’ over it all night. It’ll be my crutch when I get the urge to smoke. I’ll take up scrap bookin’! There will be cute kittens and teddy bears and puppies and little bug eyed chilluns and bits of lace and ribbon and the smell of hot glue all over the place!

Seriously, what. the. hey. Why would sump’n like that be included with a new printer?

Scrapbooks for everybody this Christmas!!! WOOHOO!!!

[sub]Apologies to any cool kid who happens to be a scrap book enthusiast.[/sub]

Huh. As if. Hey, I got two jobs, and three kids, too, Mister!

Got a whole mess of stuff done this afternoon for grad school; now only have ONE HUGE PROJECT for that class and one smaller one for Reference (which I didn’t know about until today! What fun).

Also having a house guest this weekend. Daughter’s BF is coming in from Boston for 3 days, so am trying to somewhat clean this house.
Taxi --sorry about your kitty.

Good thoughts for the kitty, taxi and KeithT.

I don’t scrapbook, but from what I’ve read, digital scrapbooking is becoming popular. I imagine software companies think distribution through printers is a great way to get people hooked.

Watered down condensed milk? How disappointing.

Hope the tummies start to quiet down, Ellen.

My big accomplishment today: laundry.

Going to bed early so that I can get lots done in the next three workdays.

Swampy! Paging the Swampbear

There is a hockey dopefest being planned for the Snakes game on March 17th. Check the thread I forgot to link to…

G’night everyone, and see you all occasionally on Sundays, and not any other time until Easter. Kisses all around.

The good news: The computer is back from the shop, and is running at warp speed(the Ethernet connection even works!) The bad news? The Canes lost 3-1 tonight, with Etlanter scoring three times in the third. SCL, ask Conner if he wants to move up.

LiLi, good luck! See you Easter Sunday!

Good luck quitting, swampy. You can do it! I know, I did and I had a psycho bitch for a boss at the time.

:frowning: I’m sorry. Poor kitty. It’s the right thing to do, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Hugs to all of you.

taxi, I’m so sorry about your poor kitty. Hugs to you and Keith T. It’s hard to watch any living thing suffer.

Dangit, I missed saying ta-ta for now to Li-Li.

Swampy, good luck with smoking thing. I hope it works for you. I don’t know when I’ll be quitting, but if the no-smoking thing goes into effect at work, it’ll be sooner, rather than later, I guess. I’ll bitchy right along with you. :frowning:

Yet another crazy day at work. As much as I’m pulling my hair out, I should be freakin’ bald by now. Ah well, it’s a paycheck.

As I was leaving my building today, I ran into the Chief of a division I have to work with a lot. He said to me, “Your name was brought up in the General’s office today.”

I was all, “Bwuh?” I asked him why and he told me that my was boss explaining some of my products and that’s when my name came up. I guess he then went on to add a lot of the other stuff I’ve been doing. She asked where I worked and my boss told her that I worked directly for him. I was told that several other things were said too. Nothing bad, but, you know, I just don’t like having my name come up there. I would much rather be in background just doing my job. Bleh.

Hope those that were feeling poorly are on the mend.

My son isn’t feeling well. First his stomach was all messed up and now he’s complaining about a back ache. It’s been bothering him for the last couple of days. I’m sure (hoping, really), that he just moved incorrectly, but geeze, he’s only 14 and much to young for that kind of stuff. He told me just a few minutes ago, that if he’s still feeling crappy tomorrow, he doesn’t want to go to school. This is a real oddity for him. He will usally drag himself in at all costs, so I know he’s really feeling bad.

I think I’m gonna veg in front of the TV for a bit. Night all.

I didn’t get any pancakes last night after all, I was a bit late home and then spent a couple of hours doing my uni reading, fed the cats, saw the veg man, cooked dinner and did the dishes.

‘im indoors came home with a bottle of wine but didn’t put it in the winerack properly so it ended up all over the floor. Just what I needed! It took me quite a while to mop the floors, luckily the kitchen and hallway are tiled so it wasn’t too bad, wipe down the woodwork, pick up the bits of bottle, wash the cats’ foodbowls and replenish them, empty the litter tray, clean it out and put fresh litter in it…by then I was too knackered to faff about making batter.

Maybe tomorrow night instead. Tonight we’re off to the pub so no cooking for me! And a few beerverages to look forward to.
