You haven’t changed a bit – a post-reunion MMP

Taxi -I feel for you - I love my cats, and each time I think of the times I’ve had to do that, I lose it a little all over.

Can you post, or send a picture? I’ll keep it in my screen saver file and every so often, someone else can remember **KeithT’**s cat, along with him.

Aw, taxi, that’s sad. {{{{hugs}}}}

mindi, my folks had one house that had an orange tree and a grapefruit tree that were close enough to cross pollenate. The oranges on the grapefruit side of the orange tree would have the pinkest fruit you’ve ever seen. Tasted the same but, yes, disturbing for some reason.

Today I am in billing hell. Just thought I’d share the glory of life that is mine.

Tupug

rigs - What in the name of all things baked, is the name of that bakery downtown about a block from the train station by you?

A guy here brought in some paczki that he said was the Best Ever, but nowhere near as good as what I got from that place…

While you’re trying to remember, can you send some through the internet to me? Or, just e-mail me the name if that’s simpler…

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of her with me. If I remember, I’ll post from home, but I’m not terribly good at doing that.

She’s a cute little Bengal though so if you search for Bengal photos, it’ll give you an idea of what she looks like. She’s just a lot smaller than an average Bengal. At her peak before she got sick, she only weighed in at ~7 lbs. She was just over 5 lbs when we took her to the vet in early November and probably around 4 now. There’s just nothing left of her. :frowning:

Taters, I’m sorry to hear about your dad’s dog too. Losing a pet’s certainly hard. :frowning:

Morning all. yawn

Rigs, I feel your pain. I have so many things to do this week. And next. Mid to end of quarter is always insane.

Taxi, I’m sorry to hear about the kitty. Losing a pet is never easy no matter how many times you go through it.

Scottish Darling and I plan to make pancakes this fine morning. Hope they turn out well. When I was little I once poured salt instead of sugar into the pancake batter. We ended up feeding the lot to the birds.

Taxi, big hugs to you and KeithT for what you know you have to do. It’s very sad when things reach that stage, I’ve been there too. Yes, it might only take a few minutes to do the actual deed but any good vet will be there ready, waiting for you to have those last goodbyes, and will be happy for you to stay with your kitty afterwards for as long as you need. Some people need to spend some time alone afterwards, before they’re ready to face the people in the waiting room.

taxi, I’m so sorry. Hugs to you and Keith, and a very gentle pat to the kitty.

Do Nutri-Grain Eggos[sup]TM[/sup] count? It’s a blistering 55 degrees Amurikin this morning. I have the heat off, good thing too, since I do not want to see my electric bill next month. I think I’ll take the dog to the dogpark in a few.

LiLI, bacon tea? mmmmmmmm…

{{{{taxi}}}} I am sorry, it’s never fun to lose a furry friend.

Mork, my navel orange today had a verry ruby grapefruitish look to it. :dubious:

So sorry to hear about the kitty, taxi. Hugs to you and KeithT. Sorry about your dad’s dog, as well, Taters.

I’m having a lovely day off, how are you? I’ve already done 2 loads of laundry. Yes, Iam washing pretty much every washable item in the house this (long) weekend, why do you ask?

Welcome to grad school, rigs, where each professor knows that your life revolves around their class and that you have committed your existence to completing those special projects.

I’m sure there was more, but I’m supposed to be doing other stuff.

Back later…

GT

I blame the lot of you for this , by the way. :stuck_out_tongue:

GT

Taxi, hugs to you and KeithT. It’s so hard when it’s time.

No new phone jack for me. The AT&T guy (how did AT&T come back from being dismembered, anyway?) said that installing a new jack would be…problematic, at best. I should take pictures of the “basement” to illustrate. Suffice to say, the crawlspace under the house is large enough for your average cat, and nothing larger. So I’m back to having a long phone line from the bedroom to the living room. Maybe I’ll just buy those cable hiding thingys and leave it at that. It’s such fun living in a house built in 1926, and never remodeled since!

I think I’ll wander down to the diner for a late pancake breakfast.

Aw taxi. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: I’m sorry.

So, the word is in on the Prof A/Prof B thing. As I suspected, Prof B is teaching the course - apparently it wasn’t his idea. He was given that course because a special topics course he had in mind didn’t pan out. It’s complicated. I’m not taking this course now - Prof A said he might not even use the completely standard textbook that pretty much defines the subject. Bah. Fortunately another physics classmate told me about a Math dept. course that looks interesting, so I may take that.

Oh, and about the girl becoming involved with our TA - turns out that she didn’t have anything of the sort in mind, and was as surprised as I was about a certain piece of evidence. I think it’s mostly in his head, and the rest of it was her not really paying attention to what was happening and going along with it thinking it was harmless. Still doesn’t sit right with me. Here, have a pun.

Jahdra, there was a hilarious Colbert Report bit on the whole AT&T thing, which you can find on youtube (I can’t play video on the office computer, or I’d find it.) Basically, after AT&T was exploded into tiny little bits, other companies started buying those bits up - the prime offender being cingular. Eventually cingular had most of what remained of the original company and changed its name to “at&t” lowercase. Dolts.

I think you mean Nielsen’s, on Ridge, no? It’s a good bakery. Never had paczki, though.
Why does everyone eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?

Off to do Reference homework, to clear the decks for the TWO HUGE PROJECTS. Grrrrr.
To all students here: I feel your pain. Feel mine. (ew, that sounds kinky!)

That’s it - on Ridge. MMMM.

Ok, back to work. I’d kill to just have two big projects to work on.

taxi, I’m so sorry to hear about the kitty. Hugs for all of you.

I have nothing else to say. But I suppose I have to hit the job hunt harder very soon, because I’m getting bored. Roomie is home sick today, so I have somebody besides the cats to talk to, but I’m starting to sleep late and take too many naps, which means my time off is coming to an end. :frowning: Ah, well.

Pancakes? No no, today is Cajun food day – red beans & rice (usually Monday fare), jambalaya, etouffée, something along those lines. It’s Mardi Gras, people!

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!

Ahem. Anyway, I went to the doctor for my final preop appointment; Palebunny came along, and was seriously impressed with the x-ray of my knee. It’s not only bone-on-bone, but it’s falling apart enough that the top part has kinda slid sideways from the bottom part. Methinks a new knee will be a VAST improvement.

But not only do I have to bathe in special antimicrobial soap daily for two days before going to the hospital, and not only do I have to swap some special antimicrobial goop up inside my nostrils daily for three days prior to surgery (!!), but if I get so much as a pinprick, cat claw hook mark, etc. in the skin on my knee between now and Monday, they’ll have to postpone it! Oy, in THIS house, staying mark-free? Should be fun. Not!

I’m sorry, {{{Taxi}}}. Hugs to you guys and pets for the kitty!

Rigs first off, grad school, see, told ya so! :stuck_out_tongue: As to pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, well, who knows really, except the idea is to shrive (shrove?) ones home of all fat and the like, so I guess butter, syrup, bacon, sausage and the like gave way to eating pancakes. I like Tigs cajun food blowout idea better though. We had discussed doing a pancake supper at church this year but since we just moved into the new digs, it was really too soon to put it together. Next year, we are talkin’ about doing a for real Nawlins Mardi Gras Creole/Cajun feast. YUM!!!

Tonight we shall have pancakes and sausages just cause it’s good and it is National Pancake Day after all. All the pancake recipes sound yum. One thing I do is put in about a quarter cup of club soda in the better. Makes 'em fluffier. Just a little helpful hint.

Ok, so today I had an interview this morning. It was for a HR position. It went pretty well, I think. Also, a job that sounds kinda interestin’. We shall see. Also, I applied for another job that required filling out one of those pdf apps and printing it out to mail. Well, I get to the printing part and… GRRRRRRRRR The dang printer decides at that very second to die!!!. Nuttin’ I did made it work, so I finally decided it just died. Well, it did last ten years so I guess I can’t complain. Anywho, I trekked off to the Wally*World and bought me a new printer. It’s a cute lil’ ol HP all in one thing for the whoppin’ price of seventy dollars, tax included. The old one was also a cheapass printer and lasted me that long and I can’t see payin’ big bucks right now (heh! ever for that matter) for a fancy schmancy printer when I know in my heart that how long any of 'em last is just a crapshoot anyway. So, I but new printer, come home and uninstall old printer, take it down, install new printer and software and now happily print away. It does everything old printer did but it’s like half the size. So, the app, resume, cover letter and all that jazz is all printed and ready to mail tomorrow morning, since the mail’s already run today. Thus has been my day.

Taxi I’m so sorry about KeithT’s cat. He really is doing the right thing by kitty but still it’s hard, I know. He can take comfort in knowin’ he gave kitty a long, full and loving life. Taters I’m so sorry about your dad’s dog. He too can take comfort in knowin’ he gave doggy a long, full and loving life. Still makes it hard to lose a beloved pet though.

Everybody else, howdy, boo, yay, aww, etc.

Home from work - pretty much a *meh * day. It started raining a bit, so I decided to leave my car outside and let Mama Nature rinse off the salt mess. Now the sun’s out - so much for the rinse.

But it is warmer today - in fact, it was already in the 40s when I left this morning, and it’s in the 50s now. YAY! We’re actually back to seasonal norms. What a relief!

No pancakes here tonight - we’re having chicken tits - haven’t decided how I’m going to cook them. Right now they’re thawing. I’ll figure out something.

Is it Friday yet??? <sigh>

Well, so much for dinner - there was a party at FCD’s work and he’s not hungry. So the chickie tits go back into the fridge for tomorrow and I’ll probably just grab something on my way to class tonight. Makes my evening simpler.

Should I make nachos? I’m hungry. I could have toast instead.

Or this can of Milk Drink that I bought last week, with the Scary Kid on the can. Sweet fancy Moses, it’s got 175 calories in a can half the size of a Coke can. Oh, okay. It’s got condensed milk in it. That explains it.

Still, I could have most of chocolate bar for that many calories.

I think I’ll have tea and nachos.
