I don’t care if it’s not street legal. If I have to actually go anywhere, I’ll eat the ticket or take the helicopter.
Any car?
I’ll take the Bowler Wildcat
Chevy Kingswood Avocado green with wood paneling.
Yeah. I like something that is as long as an air craft carrier and corners like a freighter on luudes.
I think you may have mixed up a couple of AMC engines…there was a 360 and a 401 in 1973, but AMC never had a 460. Amongst my buddies, the 401 was considered their killer copcar motor.
But for my dream car…1961 Plymouth DeLuxe Suburban (2-door wagon). White outside with Belvedere trim, blue inside with some comfy late-model buckets, 15" chrome steelies and baby moons. A 440 with new Edelbrock aluminum heads and Megasquirt fuel and spark control, hooked up to a built A-518 Torqueflite, adapted to use the pushbuttons that came with the old cast iron Torqueflite. A 2 1/2-inch exhaust, the quieter Flowmasters or equivalent… Well, when I win the lottery or something…
Ooh, I came in here to post exactly this. I saw a blue one with white racing stripes a couple of days ago. Some guy driving to IHOP in his Cobra. How the other half does live…
I came in here to claim the Ariel Atom, but Dorjan beat me to it, darn you! The Tesla would be badass, too.
I think, though, that I’d just keep it simple and go for a nice Z06 Corvette in metallic blue. It’s fast, comfy, fun, and beautiful but it’s not so special that I’d be afraid to drive it. I could go for that as a daily driver, no problem. Also gets decent gas mileage and has a reasonable amount of cargo space for a sports car. My dog would love it, he could sit in back and hang his nose out the window–at 150mph!
57 Chevy Nomad with the Bel Aire trim. Hot-rodded, of course. Cragar mags, big fat tires, new stereo, and a modern engine.
That is one stylish wagon. It’s screaming for the Barris treatment.
I saw one of these on the streets a few years ago in Dallas. My first thought was who would be nuts enough to actually drive one of those in real traffic.
Porsche Boxter convertible. Keeping it insured and fueled would be an issue, but what the hell.
You paying for the gas too? Get me a Dodge Ram with the Hemi!
I had the good fortune to attend a class in High School that is taught by his son. Guys a card.
Drives a beat up old brown truck, though tells the tale of almost getting his hands on one of the old bat cars when he was a kid/teenager.
Ford Fairmount station wagon, used, which at this point I’m guessing is the only kind of Fairmount station wagon I could probably get. I’d like to squeeze a few more years out of my 1996 Escort though, if possible. Seriously, I really would like the Fairmount. That was the car of my childhood and it rocked! I’ve never owned anything but a Ford, and I do a lot of camping, so I’d have something to carry my gear and could still have a Ford.
Actually a base Boxter will probably get between 25-30 mpg, depending on how you drive. Insurance is not crazy expensive, either.
One of my uncles had one–many years ago. Not quite as shiny. But he was very handy & had customized it. For example: There was a record player in the dash. For playing a stack of 45’s. (But it only worked when the car was parked.)
Another uncle had one of these. I thought it was the coolest car in the world. And still do. (Yes, I know I’d need a full-time mechanic.)
No thanks. I got enough cars already.
Allright, if you insist. I’ll take a Ferrari GTO.
