I went to the mall this afternoon with kellibelli. As we were passing by the electronics store she stopped to look at the computer on display, she clicked on the mouse and said ‘damn!’ With out even cracking a smile I turned to her and said, ‘Did you want to check the board while we’re here?’
Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.
I used to check the boards constantly, but I’ve definately slowed way down- same for chat. I’ve been trying to spend more time with real life humans instead of computer people, (much as I love you guys). I just think it’s healthier

Voted “Most Empathetic”- can you believe that?
Ooooh, one of the first signs. You didn’t “just say no”, did you?
Slightly more seriously, I’m w/ Zette here. The outage (i.e. cretins torching the library of Alexandria) was a useful wakeup call. We share slices of our personalities and lives here. Maybe some of those aspects we’re reluctant to share IRL, so this place can be liberating. Doesn’t make the connections less true or valuable–but they can be more attractive because they’re less demanding.
BUT it’s a balancing act, and each one has to decide individually. The friendships here are no less real for being “cyber-distant”. Yeah, this place and the people here are addicting. Frankly, there’s a more concentrated, variable pool of interesting people than comes my way IR(?)L.
But f2f mundanity has its role too. Learning here is FUN and much to my taste, but the frustrating, boring and demanding “real” life sphere teaches me the stuff I wouldn’t seek out in 5 lifetimes. Cheeses me off royally, but that’s probably what I need the most.
Oh dang, heck, ptui and curses-foiled-again, I just complicated things.
Wouldja believe it’s genetic? An industrial accident? loverock made me do it!
