You utter and complete asshole!

How could you do that to the one person who cared about you? I’m just sick.

That’s what addicts do. Believe me, I’ve heard far worse. And addicts reflecting on just how low they’ve sunk is one of the few things that can sometimes break thru the stranglehold of the drug and cause change. Sometimes. Mostly they just rot in a living hell formed by the drugs and the consequences of their own behavior until they end up in jails, institutions, or a morgue.

I’ll tell you one thing- addict or not, he knew what he was doing was way fucking wrong. He could have picked up the phone and called for help, or he could have sold her car and his clothes for crack. How sad that he chose the latter.

Zette

I’m with Zette on this one. Addiction only works as an excuse in certain situations. This guy had been sitting in prison for a while–he had no physical addiction left. With a little dedication, effort, and honest introspection he might have been able to make some amends for previous bad deeds. Instead, he gets out, steals from his grandmother, trashes her car, smokes his crack and robs a bank in less than 30 hours. His charge on the first time through? Bank robbery.

I’m thinking this is less a case of an addict than an idiot.

bella–who shares her hometown with this schmuck

From what I’ve heard about crack, what he did seems quite restrained, if not considerate. Gramma is only out the money she spent on his foolish new clothes; she got her car back; he’s back in the clink. He didn’t kill her or force her to go to the bank for money, etc.–he’s gonna have the withdrawal and another semester in crowbar college.

Nothing to say about the OP. I just wanted to point something out.

Just because he’d been in prison does not mean he was off drugs during that time. Drugs are big business in most prisons.
