You want a divorce? I'll behead you.

Founder of Islamic TV station accused of beheading his wife

There are no words strong enough to convey my disgust at this, you ignorant slut.

There is some irony in the fact that the man who murdered his wife built the tv station, Bridges TV, to be the first english speaking station targeting Muslims inside the US.

All of his attempts at balancing the negative portrayals of muslims …look what he does. Goes medieval on his 2nd wife.

The poor children.

Yes, this act will do wonders for the negative portrayals of muslims.

What was he thinking?

At a guess, he was thinking that he did not want the hassle of a divorce. (She was a co-founder of the network, so any legal divorce was bound to get messy in terms of both property division and publicity.)

It seems to be a pretty American thing to do:

(Maybe it’s a Great Lakes thing?)

American women seem to get in on the action from time to time, as well:

It’s hardly unique to Muslims. Leaving an abusive relationship is a risky thing for anyone. Lots of abusers of many different religions and cultures track down and harm or kill their ex for leaving.

Do you realize how insulting that is to Muslims? — Well, other weirdo subhuman dumbasses do the same thing, so…

I think you completely missed the point. I understood Anne Nevilles’s point to be that this sort of thing is not unique to Muslims, as spousal abuse occurs across many cultures. Therefore, Muslims are just the same as everyone else, no better and no worse.

Hey! Let’s not start a trend here!

I dismember Mama.

Same thought I had after I read it, followed by “Look at the pretty young thing he married.”

It’s always the insecure bastages that hit. :frowning:

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that Pyotr Valeryevich Shmelev may not have been a native of the Great Lakes region.

Also, none of these killers seem to have been particularly noteworthy before their crimes. The subject of the OP was somebody with a self-declared mission of improving the public image of a group that suffers from a widespread perception that it does not respect women.

Hence the irony.

No, but he had to move to Minnesota to engage in that behavior. :stuck_out_tongue:

I perceive the irony. I just note that irony can be based on a perception that has little bearing on reality. A Muslim who made a big deal about how Islam was fully amenable to modern Western society who then invoked some interperetation of some clause of Shariah to inflict harm on his wife would be really ironic. Some nut that simply behaves in a murderous fashion toward his wife in a fit of rage, then turns himself in to the cops, not so much.

What if his murderous behavior just happens to fashion itself after an execution method favored by Muslim terrorists? Bump the irony needle back up a hair?

Henry VIII divorced two of his six wives this way. The ones he divorced the old fashioned way were grateful by comparison. And Henry was a Christian theologian.

I know what you mean, but it wasn’t exactly the same way: he had his wives charged with treason (adultery while married to the king being treason) in his courts, and executed through the normal processes of the criminal law. He did not personally kill them.

But you know, they have a different faith, and we have to be respectful of other beliefs and cultures that are different from ours.

“It’s good to be the King!”

That sounds plenty Great Lakes name to me.

We had a dude in Ohio that beheaded his wife, served a few years in a mental institution and then was released. He’s single now, gals! (I’ve often wondered if “Have you ever beheaded anyone?” should be a question on eharmony.com.)

Yeah, and besides, don’t they stone their wives, not behead them?
Wonder if he’s related to this Hassan?

I’m sure that the kangaroo court nature of the process was a comfort to them before getting their heads lopped off.
