CBS has apparently ordered development of a series about Sheldon Cooper at the age of 9, living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Series due to start in the 2017-18 season. Casting is set, apparently, per Variety. Jim Parsons will apparently narrate in his character as adult Sheldon.
Somehow this doesn’t have the ring of success. I could be wrong, of course, I frequently am.
“Sheldon as a kid” is one of the characters on the insanely schlocky “Scorpion.” The kid character. He is insufferable.
At least this Sheldon show will be the opposite of “Scorpion” In that it won’t be a bunch of savants walking around congratulating themselves about how different they are. It’ll probably just be a bunch of Texas Christians telling a little boy how annoying he is.
Because Wesley Crusher worked out so well on ST:TNG.*
Speaking of which, what about Wheaton and this show? We know that he didn’t show up for the 1995 convention that young Sheldon went to in Jacksonville, MS. Maybe they’ll meet in a dream/fantasy sequence.
You don’t get a Usenet group called “alt.wesley.crusher.die.die.die” if you’re well liked.
I don’t think this will go anywhere. Nine year old geniuses don’t seem particularly amusing. Make it when he’s about 18 and focus equally on his hot twin sister- now you’re talking.
