I forgot about Step Brothers. I think I’m the only twenty-something that hates that movie. I laughed when the bed collapsed, but the rest was torture.
300
There Will Be Blood
Seven Pounds
Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Not knowing anything about the movie somewhere on youtube I must have seen some out-takes or something where they were screwing around on the set. the character seemed like a real asshole, I thought it was going to be an edgy kind of comedy. Uh, no.
I’m amazed anyone would have this on a worst list, and the fact that more than one doper has mentioned it depresses me.
I not only think NCFOM is one of the best movies of the decade but one of the best ever. I put it in my top ten of favorites with The Godfather and The Deer Hunter.
The worst, yeah: The Wicker Man
I so loved the original that I wanted to kick Nic Cage in the nads.
V for Vendetta
Oh good God, bore me some more.
I can’t pick ten because so many, and more, have been mentioned already. It would be overkill.
Huh. I really liked V for Vendetta, even though it makes the weird Hollywood sin of hiring American actors to play British people.
I don’t think I’ve seen Hot Rod mentioned yet.
I loved NCFOM and, for that matter, Master and Commander.
I hated that remake of The Wicker Man. Shame on everyone involved in it, including the little girl.
Crash really blew, and so did There Will be Blood.
And what really sucked was Atonement. Stupid, irritating, gross people and a dumb story. Within the first ten minutes, I wished they’d all just die already.
God, yes. Worst movie I’ve ever seen in the theater (and yes, I knew it was going to be horrible going in). Makes the Star Wars prequels look brilliant by comparison.
Van Helsing would be second on my worst-of list.
Ooo. I forgot about the terrible ness that was Van Helsing! Put that on my list! I was bored in the theater with that one as well.
I was going to list the original Stepford Wives because I liked the remake but it’s from the 70s, so out of the decade. In general, a lot of the older movies seemed to think that epic meant long but with filler stuff instead of things that add to the story.
I wasn’t bored by them but after watching A Fistful of Dollars, I didn’t watch any of the sequels. It’s not that it was bad but I have seen those themes played out better in newer movies.
In general, I am a “current” snob. I like the evolution of story telling and like how we do it today, talking about movies. So, in general, I like remakes if done well because if I don’t have fond memories of the original, I probably won’t like them.

Solidarity, bro. Don’t let the “dead to me” folks get you down. That movie was 90-however-many minutes of tedium and stupid.
It’s no stranger than hiring British actors to play Americans.
Yes, but that’s a useful trope. How else are you going to appropriately indicate that the character is eeeeeevil?
I’m almost of the exact opposite, “originals” are my faves. Seldom does a remake even come close to capturing the intensity and beauty of the first made. Planet of the Apes was mindblowing, but the remake simply blew, Down to Earth was a horrible rehash of the remake Heaven can Wait, which both sucked compared to Here Comes Mr. Jordan. Born Yesterday was almost unwatchable with Melanie Griffith in the Judi Holiday role, same goes for the Taking of Pelham 1-2-3. Don’t get me started on The Birds v. The imitation hitchcock film of the same name.
Very seldom, as in the case of Hachi, a Dog’s Tale. The updated American version of the most revered twentieth century Japanese story was every bit as enjoyable and heart-wrenching as the original Japanese version.
Did someone actually redo the dreadful pseudo-sci-fi stinker Logan’s Run?:dubious:
This was a slap to my brain’s face. My cat knows more about quantum mechanics than these snake-oil salesmen.
On the other hand, this was riveting. Just loved it.
Not yet. It was on Bryan Singer’s “to do” list for a while, but hasn’t gone any further.
However, The Island by Michael Bay has a lot of similarities to Logan’s Run, and a lot of people seemed to dislike that movie, though I personally thought it was fun.
And I would also add Atonement and Dungeons & Dragons to my “Worst” list.
I’m with you on that.
Not that I sat right through it, but The Beach was one of the worst films I’ve seen of any decade.
The first Harry Potter
Shrek 2 which is the most disappointed I’ve ever been in a movie as the first one is one of my all time favourites.
Crash - again I didn’t watch the whole thing
High School Musical
Mama Mia
Nothing personal (I’m just posting because it’s fun to compare opinions) but the only thing I’d consider “mindblowing” about “Planet o’ the Apes” was its level of stupid.
Apes speaks English and there are are horses and humans and there’s a big surprise at the end… that a copper statue has survived after all other ancient artifacts have vanished. And that leads Charleston Heston and the movie viewer to the mindblowing conclusion that at some point NASA must have stopped administering IQ tests to prospective astronauts.
Anyway. Liked “Atonement.” Was bored by “In Bruges” but didn’t hate it.
Umm… Those “Caribbean” sequels sucked.
I’m about the only person that was annoyed by “Wall-E.”
“City of Ember”
“Bridge to Terabitha”
“Crash”
“What the ##@& Do We Know”
Generally I avoid movies that seem likely to be bad.
It had even more similarities to Parts: The Clonus Horror.
And how could I have forgotten about the wretchedness that was Casino Royale? The movie left me feeling angry and confused. So I watched it again and payed very close attention and was left feeling even more angry and confused. I also would like to add Iron Man. Everybody insisted it was really, really good, but like the Spider Man movies, there’s no there there. The average episode of According to Jim had more depth and characterization than any of those movies (maybe even all four of those movies combined).
I considered adding Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus to my list, but it is actually more plausible than The Happening and had a better script than Revenge of the Sith. It also made me less angry than The Wicker Man, so I guess it doesn’t deserve to be on the list.
Oops, forgot The Phantom Menace & the Pirates of the Caribean sequels.
I’m surprised at the amount of hate for this one. I thought it was one of the best of the whole Bond franchise. (Although Craig’s Bond is really pretty much a different character from any previous version.) Quantum of Solace, on the other hand, was incoherent.
