BOOGIE NIGHTS
THE NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
THROW MAMA FROM THE TRAIN
ANYTHING STARRING STEVE MARTIN (SORRY) (NO I’M NOT)

If that’s your list, you need to see more movies. In a world filled with truly painful garbage like those below, your’s are nowhere near contention. Check these out and see if you can maintain your sanity:[ul][li]Battlefield Earth[/li][li]Manos, Hands of Fate[/li][li]Batman and Robin[/li][li]Megaforce[/li][li]The Wild World of Batwoman[/li][li]Dungeons and Dragons[/li][li]Boxing Helena[/li][li]Highlander II[/li][li]Maximum Overdrive[/li][li]Anything starring Steven Segal[/ul]I’m sure somebody will come along with a list even more disturbing but these are the ones that I’ve been least successful in blocking out.[/li]
BTW, welcome to the boards Jaystercom. NO NEED TO SHOUT.
Although I haven’t seen it, Nowhere is another Greg Araki film, and I’ve been told it’s just as bad, so I shall place it at spot number two
Skydivers
Manos, the Hands of Fate
Batman and Robin
Superman 4
Godzilla (the American piece of shit)
Wild Things
Starship Troopers
Anything with the word “Hard” in the tittle
I know there are a TON of shitty films worse than those on my list (with the exception of my #1 choice; NOTHING could be worse than that film), but these are the ones I haven’t forced from memory.
Just out of curiosity Jaystercom, which Night of the Living Dead are you talking about? I admit, the remake was crap, but the original is one of the greatest horror movies of all time.
I’m sorry, But Starship Troopers, Die Hard, and Under Siege (Seagal’s one good movie) cannot appear on that list.
Otherwise, Hodge is definitely on the right track.
You do not know pain until you have seen Battlefield Earth and Manos: the Hands of Fate, Batman and Robin (how low the series has fallen), and Highlander II (the worst follow up to a good movie, ever).
Some really odd choices so far. I detested Starship Troopers, for example, but wouldn’t consider putting it on the list. And things like “Mothra,” “A Boy and His Dog,” “Boogie Nights,” “Throw Mama From the Train,” and “Die Hard” are good films in any case.
The champion is, of course, Battlefield Earth.
Vying for runner up:
Space Mutiny
Mitchell
Saturday the 14th
Madhouse
The Secret of Santa Vittoria
Freddy Got Fingered
The Wild World of Batwoman
Ring of Terror
George of the Jungle (live action)
For the record, the current worst rated films at the IMDB are “Trigger Fast” and “Backyard Dogs.”
**Monster a Go-Go
Mighty Gorga
Sextette
Guru:the Mad Monk
Star Crash
Dracula vs Frankenstein
Manos the Hands of Fate
Princess Warrior
Maniac (1934)
APE
**
I think this film was an extremely important critique of sub-culture behaviour and nuances in our post-modern era. It reflected the growing alienation youth feels as it reaches adulthood but still fails to grasp the complexities of humanity and society as an adult. It expresses the dense feelings of separation we all pass through on the journey to acceptance and fulfilment.
Either that, or you were right the first time. (although I quite liked it, really)
My $0.02…
Any ‘made for TV’ soft porn flick (Ok, that’s a given), or
any bloody homely Disney film, like "Air Bud"
For Hollywood films that really sucked (and should know better), I would add:
Barb Wire
Cobra
Judge Dredd
Anything with Macaulay Culkin
Using only flicks I saw at the theater (or at least the first half):
(no set order)
1 Batman and Robin- by academy award winning writer Akiva Goldsmen.
2 The Avengers- Ok, so Uma WAS in Spandex…
3 Godzilla- Even Hank Azaria was bad…
4 Spawn- I didn’t even like Leguizamo
5 Blown Away- the worst film I have ever seen at the movies.
6 Hudson Hawk- The first movie I ever walked out of.
7 Jurassic Park 2- Began the end of my love of FX.
8 Cool World- Holly would if she could…but I wish she hadn’t!
9 Drowning Mona- I normally like Black Comedy.
10 Lucky Numbers- I picked this one for a large group to see!
My picks (in no specific order) :
[li]Mr Wrong[/li][li]Freddy got fingered[/li][li]Battlefield Earth[/li][li]Manos[/li][li]Navy Seals[/li][li]Yor, the hunter from the future[/li][li]Very Bad Things[/li][li]the Ator movies[/li][li]the Gor movies[/li][li]Double Team[/li]
It seems to me that any low budget movies should be left out of consideration because there are so many bad ones, and they shouldn’t be blamed for being what they are. Manos, for example, should not count because it had no potential to be anything other than awful.
Any list of bad movies should be limited to big budget movies from major studions that had the resources and skills to make something decent instead of an Alan Smithee project.
I nominate Boom, written by Tennesse Williams and starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and featuring Nowl Coward as “The Witch of Capri,” this bizarre bit of celluloid is jawdroppingly bad.
Town and Country–a $100 million film that brought in maybe 2 bucks. BAAAD.
Ishtar–Write your own joke
The Pick Up Artist a gawdawful Brat Pack pic from 1986 with Molly Ringwald and Robert Downey, Jr.
Battlefield Earth–Watch John Travolta flush his career down the toilet. “Hey, Quentin, you got a part in your new film for me?”
The Avengers–What a waste of Uma!
Showgirls–OK, this movie is actually one of my guilty camp pleasures, but on any real scale of artistic merit, this movie is pure cowflop.
Caligula–Bob Guccione’s one bid at cinematic glory, this atrocity wasted the talents of Gore Vidal, Malcolm McDowell, Peter O’Toole, and Helen Mirren.
